I Love this car ... with one notable exception. When I am getting on it a bit above 4500 rpms there is this rattle coming from the passenger side that sounds like a buzz! It only happens near 4500rpm and continues through the range to about 6K.
I am reluctant to bring it in for two reasons
1) I have an APR stage 1
2) I do not like nor trust people pulling $30K apart and poking around
I've got a issue on the passenger side interior of my car that only seems to happen when it's cold/cool. I can hear a rattle coming from something plastic. I've turned off the radio and emptied the glovebox to ensure they weren't at fault.
Here is a recording I made last night with my phone. There was a decent amount of road noise on I-295, but when listening just now from stereo desktop speakers, I could hear the sound.
Many months ago I had a rattle in my 13 Azera. Of course when I took it back to the dealer they heard it but when I left it was gone. I had a scheduled service to have it looked at but the rattle never came back.
The last two weeks it is back louder than before. I thought it might be coming from the passenger seat belt housing on the side of the door but now it sounds like it might be coming from the passage side rear door or maybe the sun roof. Hard to tell yet my girlfriend was in the car last night said it wasn't coming from the passenger side seat belt housing sounded more like the rear of the car.
So going to make an appointment to get it looked at next week. I hate rattles! I looked all over the car yesterday after had her cleaned up. My trunk is empty, so not sure what it could be.
I have a 2011 F250 4X4 Supercab 6.7L that has a highly annoying knock/rattle (you can't hear it) under the front passenger side floor. It feels like someone is tapping on the floor beneath your feet any time you hit a bump or when on a rough road.
Its been in at least 5 times in 2 yrs with cab mount adjustments/shims, cab mount replacements and realignment of the exhaust and brackets. The knock has been there since about day one (I assume anyway, I'm rarely on that side of the cab) and have burned up my 36k warranty, although I'm told i'm good because it is pre-existing.
I keep insisting its in the suspension and keep being told they can't find anything. The mechanic indicated that this is a known problem, but Ford has not put out any service bulletins other than to do the cab mounts and suspension. Has anyone had this problem and found the solution?
I was removing my rear headrests, for the first time, from my 2012 GTI today and noticed that both the passenger and driver side headrests rattle. It sounds like there is a broken piece of plastic rolling around in each of them. I have been hearing a rattle since I purchased the car new 6 months ago so maybe I have found the issue.
View 5 RepliesMy wife's 2011 Gti (31k miles, dsg) has developed a bad rattle vibration at idle. It goes away when you press on the gas. At first first I thought it was just a bit of plastic rattling in the wheel well or engine bay, but now I'm suspecting the engine. It's coming from the drivers side and it sounds like the 'TSI rattle' turned up to 11. It's intermittent, but worse when it's cold.
Engine mount? Chain guides going going bad? I will try to get a video of the sound today.
I've got two rattles .....
First is an actual rattle noise coming from what seems like the passenger side a pillar.
Second is more of a buzzing noise coming directly behind the radio at between 3k-4500
Having issues with passenger side door making noise on the highway at higher speeds or over bumps? I've recently begun to notice a slight rattle coming from the passenger side door when at highway speeds which becomes more noticeable and annoying when driving over a bump or less smooth roadways. I just reached 1500 miles. I have looked around on the forum and found some issues that various GTI owners experienced most dated from last year (talked with a MK6 GTI owner today at work who mentioned there was a recall not too long ago on this issue?), but I feel like that would have been since fixed with the R if the recall was last year.
View 9 RepliesI've been trying to pin point this golf ball rattle i hear from my passenger rear side of my car. I though it was the sway bar end links wearing out, so i changed those along with a pair of new rear struts as they were leaking.
I was still getting the that rattles when i drove on bumpy roads. I then though it was the sway bar bushings going out on me so i took the sway bar off to eliminate it all together.....WRONG AGAIN.
Ok, it must be something behind the bumper right? before i start pulling the bumper clips my spider man senses zoned in on the passenger rear wheel caliper that i had changed 6 months ago due to a rusted guide pin that i acquire while i was living in snow country New York.
I began rocking the caliper and to my surprise the damn thing was moving very loosely.
Time for some maintenance: Turned out that the lower guide pin on the 6 month old caliper was loose. Cleaned it up and tighten it with an Allen key applied some crc brake grease, installed new brake pads and hardware and that took care of that damn rattling.
My passenger window won't roll up or down from driver's switch, I know it isn't the window itself bc it rolls up and down from the passenger door switch and if so how did you get it fixed?
View 2 Replies2011 golf 2.5l. It all started a year ago, I changed a bulb.from there the head light error came on. I switched out the head light switches on both. Driver Side works all the time and both have been.now getting same problem it in passages side. Have to press the wire for the head light to even turn on sometimes ...... Not under warranty sense I replaced the bulbs my self..... I asked if I can get new wiring. But got a laugh and got a reply that I have to replace the whole head lights it self as a unit. So if I do have to go that route . Not hide stock head lights.
View 5 RepliesI've noticed a noise coming from my car (2014 IS350 RWD) that sounds like a light, irregular rattle, when the engine is running in the 3500 - 4500 RPM range. I don't hear it necessarily under load, but if I am in manual mode in a lower gear, and let off the throttle, I can hear it.
The best way I can describe the noise is like a bowl of rice crispies (rapid and random), only slightly louder. You have to listen for it, the road/traffic should be quiet, and if you get back on the gas, the intake noise that's plumbed into the cabin pretty much covers it up. I can also hear it in Park or Neutral.... I've wondered if it's a loose heat shield, or an exhaust issue, but I can't hear it standing next to the car or with my head under the hood. I only hear it from the cabin. The rhythm of the noise is irregular.
I don't think it's ping/detonation, since that usually shows up under load, is much louder and has a decidedly metallic sound to it compared to what I'm hearing.
I visited my dealer for something else, but I thought I'd take a chance and mentioned that my car (2010 III) had a passenger side rattle. He said that there was a TSB for that, and had a tech perform the fix. The rattle is gone. The TSB number is:

Upper/Lower Windshield/Rear Glass Tick Noise
The work consisted of the replacement of a couple of stoppers at the top of the windshield. I would not have guessed that this was the cause, but the rattle is gone (for two days, anyway).
Did some searching on this and some said it could be the throw out bearing, some sort of intake rod or something like that, or possibly a heat shield..
Figured I'd ask to see if there has been more of a solution as the threads seemed pretty old.
When I accelerate or rev, the car has a rattling sound coming from the passenger side. If i take the car out of gear and slow down or let it idle, the noise disappears completely.
I have a 2011 sonata with 72000 Km on it. As I am driving at highway speeds I notice a rattle from the drivers side towards the door. I can't quite locate where but have tried pushing trim and I can't stop it. Took it to the dealer and was told there was nothing wrong and no rattle. On a trip yesterday I noticed the rattle stopped as I braked. So I then applied very light pressure on the brake pedal. So light it did not come off cruise. And the rattle stops. What is the likely cause? I want to be prepared with some ideas when I take it back to the dealer.

I've notice a bumping around, rattle type noise in the wheel well or below the adjacent floor at the right rear tire. I'm still looking into the cause at this point.
The "tracking bar" was replaced last year, and is firm and tight. The rear exhaust pipe was also replaced last year, and I've checked that it might be "tapping" on the body of the van by checking it's range of movement.
The shocks are relatively new (<50,000 miles)...
I've noticed when going up hills where the engine is working, there is a rattle/vibration that seems to be coming from the passenger side dashboard/glovebox area. I've opened both glove boxes and made sure nothing was in it and the rattle still continues. It sounds like there is a screw loose in the plastic inside the dash that is vibrating.
View 5 RepliesShortly after driving off the dealer lot last year with the 2014 Camry a persistent rattle would appear at 70 MPH. It sounded like it was coming from inside the passenger door.
The culprit was a loose passenger side rocker panel knocking against the undercarriage at highway speeds. A few plastic push pins securing the panel to the underside of the frame backed out.
After pushing the pins back in a small dab of RTV was applied at a few locations where the rocker panel comes in contact with the undercarriage and dab was applied to each push pin. Now, not even the heartiest of car washes will work anything loose again.
I'm starting to be a little annoyed with a rattle in the passenger side dash area. I looked around to check if there was anything obvious, but I couldn't find anything...
I sometimes get that noise while driving over bumps, but oddly, I usually tend to get it when I accelerate and get the engine at a specific RPM (like some sort of resonance frequency issue?!?). What could cause this?
Just had the truck in the dealership for a bad blend door/ heater core case. Heat would only blow out warm on the passenger side, blows cold on drivers side. Dealership replaced the case, heat works normal on both sides now. It was a little warm out yesterday so i turned on the A/C, frosty cold on passenger side, warm on drivers side, temperature does change when i select different temperatures (dual zone.)
