How do you remove the city or parking light bulb in the 2011 GTI, without the HID projector headlights? I have the regular halogen set-up...I want to change them to a super white bulb to match my Xenesis bulbs.
I know its the 194 bulb, I just can't seem to pull it free...
So I just picked up an R32 and it has a euro switch and euro projector headlights but I've noticed that my parking lights, city lights, and front fogs are all inoperative. Though the turn signals do work. I tried doing a quick search but wasn't really able to come up with anything as to a reason why.

Am I correct in assuming I have to pull back the carpet, then remove 2 nuts/washers, and then remove the taillight lens/housing to replace the bulb? Any recommendations on bulb or just stay with OEM? View 2 RepliesI changed the bulbs from the stock to LED then the error light was showing so I decided to switch back the stock lights (I did this while the lights were on).
And now my city lights will not turn on at all! It is a fuse that is causing this problem?
My lens on my city light popped off. It seems like I might be able to reach it and get it from the city light socket, but it'd be impossible to turn it around and stick it back. The next option would be to cut the headlights open. I'm about to just give up and let it sit there.

I recently upgraded to a "Euro" light switch to get more flexibility with my lights. Put tape on the TFL pin to disable DRLs in OFF Mode. Put tape on the 56d pin to disable DRLs in CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode. Completely successful -- no DRLs, just as taping the TFL pin on the original light switch accomplished long ago.
BEFORE I did any taping this time, I installed the Euro switch AS IS and tested all of its modes and physical positions:
(1) OFF: No fog light position available (switch knob will not pull out). As expected and okay.
(2) FULL ON Fog lights come on (but who the hell can see them?!?) when switch knob is pulled out one stop into the fog light position -- and the little front fog symbol on the switch lights up. Again, expected and just fine.
(3) CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights): The fog lights position is physically available by pulling the switch knob out one stop... BUT THE PARKING LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON (regardless of ignition switch position, emergency hand brake position, etc., etc.) And the little fog light symbol on the switch does not light up. (Not surprisingly, pulling the knob further out to the REAR fog light position does nothing either.)
THIS IS NOT GOOD - since with a Euroswitch one ought to be able to manually select and de-select the fog lights while in CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode!

View 30 Repliesmy (new to me ) 2011 TDI DSG occasionally will surge when cold at parking lot speeds. You all know what im talking about. Ive found a handful of updates and TSBs that deal with it, but they said they cant apply unless they can replicate it. I left it over night so they can drive it cold and of course, they cant reproduce. I am gonna go back in 4-5hrs after it cools fully again and ill drive him this time. Annoying nonetheless.
Couple other questions: The car just got a 30k 4 mos ago. From prior records, the previous owner had the fuel filter changed at 20k in June 2012, then the 30k svc was done in Jan 2013. Should I be proactive and change the fuel filter now before the 40k or just wait it out?
Should I press for any other maintenance, etc to be done (car is at 35,900 miles today)...?

View 5 Replies I have read all 11 pages of the led light post, and I am more confused then when I started. I bought Ed's opt.4 lights with the LED's. I bought the light kit he recommended: [URL] .... with H7 harness. I have 2012 North American TDI Golf. I purchased and had installed the Bold eruo light switch with light sensor kit. I had someone install everything for me. They have had trouble finding out the proper codes needed. The issues I am having are:
1: with the above set up, they can not get the light bulb out warning light to go out. I was told that it is due to the light kit purchased above, and the fact that it only connects to the drivers side harness, and not the passenger side, so the warning light on my car keeps saying there is a bulb out on the right side.
2: With the euro switch in the Auto position, I get no DRL's at all. The only way I get that is if I turn the switch to the next position, and then I get the low beams, as well as the LED's, and no fogs. This stays the same day or night with the light switch in this position. To get the fogs as well, I turn the knob one more turn, and pull it out, and this gives me the fogs as well as the low beams and LED's.
My questions are:
1: can I get the LED's as DRL's in the Auto position or in the position next to it, and then have the rest of the lights come on automatically at night via the sensor? If so, what are the vagcom codes I would need?
2: Is there anyway to get the bulb out warning light to go away without putting in a different light kit. I was told by the installer that they had to try a few light kits to get one to work with the coding of the vw, and the kit they use connects with two harnesses(one for each head light, and not one harness for both as my set up is).
Whenever I start my 2011 Sonata Turbo after it has been resting overnight, the brake warning light comes on and stays on. It's not immediate?it usually takes five to ten seconds, and whether the emergency brake was on when I started has no effect. Once it goes on, it cannot be shut off without shutting off the car and restarting?at which time it acts normally for the rest of the day. The braking system is fine.
View 6 RepliesSometimes when I start my car, parking brake light fails to go off. I know this is usually indicative of low brake fluid, but mine is not low. I rarely use the brake so I don't think it's the parking brake switch either as it only happens if the parking brake is not engaged. Never happens on the occasional use of it.
Restarting doesn't seem to work unless I set the brake, restart, then disengage it. Very strange problem. Not a big deal but is a bit perplexing. I never see a CEL or any codes generated at all.
Thinking about getting a used Camry. Is there any issues with any of the years in the seventh generation Camry? What are some of your likes and dislikes of your car? For example I have been told that on the sixth generation Camry you have to remove the bumper to change the turn signal bulb. I have never had to deal with this, just what I have been told.

View 1 RepliesI have a 2003 W8 wagon and my front turn signal bulb went out. I need to replace it, but am having some problems. I removed the high beam cover to get to the turn signal socket, but I am having problem removing the socket. I was able to turn the socket slightly and was hoping I could just pull it back, unfortunately it doesn't seem to want to move. Is there a trick to remove the turn signal socket so I can remove the bulb? I don't want to force anything in fear of breaking something. there has to be a way.
