I just got a 2011 Golf today and the voice recognition was speaking in English originally but I somehow changed it to German. I have reset to factory settings and quadruple checked that the language was set to english us. It is still speaking German. The guy at the dealership didn't know how to fix it and service department was gone for the day.

View 1 RepliesI notice in the service/diagnostic menu, there is a place to change the voice recognition (handsfree) settings. It appears to involve recording something (your voice, maybe?), since it has the same kind of record and stop buttons you see on YouTube or in WMP, etc.
How to adjust the microphone sensitivity using this diagnostic?
The thing will only recognize about half the streets / towns I speak. I have a 2014 XLE.
View 14 Replies I have a 2012 Prius III and from the time I bought the car I have been having ongoing multimedia system and voice activation problems. I have taken it into the dealer numerous times, and they often say they were unable to duplicate the problems (so I started recording the issues with my iphone!). The third time I took it in with the videos in hand, they agreed to replace the multimedia unit...unfortunately, the problems persisted. They are outlined below.
1. Voice Recognition button doesn't work about 50% of the time. When pressed, it displays "Voice Recognition Not Available"
2. When plugging in my iPod, the multimedia system will often reboot
3. The touch screen buttons sometimes do not work (may 25% of the time, and only some buttons, not all of them, and they are different every time)
4. When my iPod is plugged in and I navigate to the playlist, the wrong songs will be in the playlist.
5. When plugging in my ipod, the screen will just load and load and load....forever...until I unplug it and plug it back in from the center console plug (not from the iphone side).
Turning my car off, then back on often resolves the problems.
So here's the issue. I use voice recognition to tune my radio, but it doesn't tune.

Despite speaking loudly, softly, slowly, faster, etc, etc - if fails to ever recognise 'home'.
I get fm radio, am radio, heads up, etc, etc
Is there anyway to actually get this to work?
On the same note, read lots of apparently different hacks to disable the lock on inputting a new destination whilst driving - but none seem to work.

View 10 RepliesIt has been more than 2 years and I am still very frustrated with the voice recognition. The problem is that the when I want to use the voice dialing, 90% of the time, the system interprets the number 4 as 0. But it will only mix up when the 4 appears in the area code. For example, when I say 416-123-4567, it will respond as 016-123-4567. Other numbers are responding correctly. In general, it is very unreliable in responding correctly to my number 4. My English is very fluent but with a very slight Chinese accent. The worst part is when I took the car and tried to show the problem to the service supervisor (with him in the car), the system will respond to my number 4 or 9 correctly.
Recently, I have bought my complaint to the dealer again. This time, the service supervisor who is also Chinese, told me that many Chinese customers have complained about the same problem. However, there is no software update on the system to address this problem.
I have 2005 4.2, and the choices for navigation language are English and French. I'm learning German and I think it would be great if the car could give directions in German.
How to change the language on the Phaeton? Is its speech inextricably linked with the navigation discs [in which case I imagine it would be hard to get Southern California in German] or is the language a separate module?
2011 F-150 Eco-boost XLT package
Just recently (this past week), my truck has ceased responding to voice prompts. I press the button on the steering wheel and tell it 'Bluetooth Audio' to switch to my phone like I do frequently and SYNC times out and starts going through the various options.
After trying this multiple times, I pressed the MENU button to and selected 'Bluetooth Audio' from there at which point it flashes "Bluetooth Connected' and then instantly flashes 'Bluetooth Disconnected'.
In the phone menu, I am unable to call using voice prompts. I also can't communicate (hear or talk) when I place a call from my phone, even though SYNC shows it is in a call on the dash.
Troubleshooting I have done:
Deleted all bluetooth devices and then paired my phone again.
Menu on SYNC and restored factory defaults. Re-paired phone again, no change
Menu on SYNC, Master Reset, re-paired my phone and no change.
My phone worked perfectly in this truck before last Sunday (3-2-15) and still works perfectly in my wife's 2010 Fusion w/SYNC so I do not believe it is the phone. It is very frustrating as I have a long commute and use the SYNC features everyday, especially the hands free calling.
On the 2011 GTI, you know how the Voice Control lady shouts. Well, my kid just changed the voice for all activities to UK English, to amuse me, and I think the Voice Control prompts are now at a more reasonable volume.
View 8 RepliesI picked up a 2012 SEL w/ RNS-510 today and the steering wheel voice button doesn't work. It's basically a golf inside and the Tiguan forum is slow so I'll ask here. I checked it with vcds and its coded for voice command to work. Did the 2012's cone with a harness for voice command or do I need to add the wires to the harness? My rns-510 is a version F and the service records show that the original was replaced under warranty. It's running software 3690 but I'm installing 4366 in the morning. Does 3690 disable voice command? I know it works with 4366. I'd mess with it tonight, but I drove 500 miles each way to get it so I'm ready for bed.
When I press the star button on the rns-510 the annoying voice says, "route guidance is not available".
My 2013 Driver's Edition is having trouble with the command "Call (contact name)". After I try that, the voice command tells me the list of available commands. All the other commands work just fine. "Dial (Number)" etc. how to fix this?
View 3 RepliesI recently purchased a used 2010 GTI with the Autobahn Package, leather seats, Nav, the 510 nav/sound system unit etc. The steering wheel has the button on it that would normally be used to control phone or sound system functions by voice, but when I press it, it acts much like the phone button on the bottom left of the radio/media unit - ie. it mutes the radio, but doesn't do much else. I just wanted to check if that is normal behavior or if the fact that I have that button on my steering wheel mean that it is supposed to function?

View 9 RepliesYesterday while changing the bulbs in my door on my 2011 Sonata to led there was some sort of short and all the door lights, dome lights, clock and temprerure light, key fob stopped working. My tire pressure lights came on and every time I start my car the radio resets. I checked all fuses and all my tires have the right tire pressure.
