Golf/GTI VI :: 2010 - Air Hissing From The Door Seal?
May 19, 2010
I have 2010 Golf VI (2-doors) for just over 2 months now. There is an air hissing sound that comes from the rear edge of the door, from the point approximately at the door handle level. At speed over 70 mph the noise begins to compete with the radio. It seems the weather strips here do a piss-poor job insulating the sound.
Now, my question is - is it a design flaw, common to all 2-doors Golfs VI, or just bad weather strips (or the warped door, maybe ) on my car?
(And yes, B-pillars also started to creak at 2K miles, but that already been discussed in another tread...)

On the way back from work, yesterday, i ran into some rain, and noticed that there is water dripping from my door seal (right about where the oh sh!t handle is on drivers side). Now it's not a whole lot but its enough to make it annoying, about 3-4 drops per minute. Is this one of those defects i should live to live with, as with all the other cracks and noises, or should i take it to the dealer? I really don't like taking my car to the dealer for service .

I have been experiencing a terrible wind noise coming from the door seal, it is intolerable and I just can't believe it is normal. I can hear it coming from the passenger side as well, but not nearly as bad. If I press against the area while driving, it will stop. It occurs at any speed north of 60mph.
Here is a picture to illustrate where I am talking about. I can take closer shots, this was just a photo I already had on my computer.

So I took my GTI in for TSBs, new wipers, the door seal creak and new wheels (old ones were not painted behind the spokes) - when it was returned to me, I noticed (after I got home) the red door stripe on the passenger side would not light up. At one point they had taken that door panel off to see if it was creaking instead of the seals (which of course, it was not) and I assume that they forgot to connect something, or unplugged something accidentally. Any other suggestion, like a magical fuse I can replace? I so don't want to travel 60 miles back to this guy. And not only did they not fix the seals, the noise is worse than before, I think from them messing with the doors. But anyway, I'm looking for possible DIY fixes.

I have a 2015 gti se 2 door. The seal between the door and the mirror housing is out of place. I would like to loosen the housing and adjust the rubber seal. I see a cap inside the door Opposite the mirror, and believe that's how I'd do it.

So I got my VR6 Turbo Mk2 driving bout 3 weeks ago and parked the R. Its been raining pretty good the last few days and the Mk2 has proven to be more than a handful in my short drives in the wet so I took the R today...Turns out the drivers door seal is leaking on me when I am driving. I figure its probably tied to the wind noise problem, but Ive not seen it before given it rarely rains in Az and I don't think its rained since I got the car.

I took a road trip a week ago and on the way home ran into some steady but not heavy rain. I thought I noticed water leaking in the driver's door out of the corner of my eye and when I swiped the top of the door with my hand sure enough, it was wet. The passenger door leaked a little onto the seat, too.

I am almost 100% I have found the source of the rear wind intrusion that some of us are hearing. From day one, I have had a wind hissing noise from the rear door windows. After taking it to the dealer and them saying it was "normal", I have been on a mission to find the source of the noise. Well it is coming from a location that I never thought it would come from.
After trial and error, I found it is coming in around that shinny black triangle part in the rear door. There is a gap between the rubber and that plastic shinny triangle part. I used shinny black pinstripe that I got from an auto parts store to cover the gap. I test drove several times at speeds above 65mph and did not hear the noise. Unless you were looking close, you'd never know the pinstripe was there.

When I have the A/C running in my truck it idles at like 900 RPM's if not 950 RPM's. It also doesn't appear to sweat like normal vehicles do. Most every other vehicle I've owned sweat when running the A/C it does but just not a lot. I hear it hiss like the drip is hitting something hot when I shut the door on the truck.

The tweeter and the speaker in my passenger side front door have this awful hissing sound coming from them. The sound gets louder and quieter with driving. Could it be a lose connection at the headunit or would it be to each speaker? The speakers are stock by the way.

Winter is here and its the first winter i've had my 2006 Passat 3.6l. After a long night of freezing weather i attempt to open the door. After getting it loose, It wont seal close. When i shut the door it will just bounce off and open again.
My temp solution is to hold the door closed and press the lock key. The door then partially locks closed and then i have to pull it hard to make the seal close completely.

Over the last 6 months I have had my car back to the dealer to look into wind noise and a knocking noise from the door mirror. At first they just kept saying they couldn't find anything wrong, then they said there was a fault report for the mirror and had the car in to get it fixed, but the noise is still there intermittently. After numerous returns for the wind noise I noticed that if I push on the door or the window it gets noticeably louder - the dealer took the car back in and said they adjusted the door but I still have both noises - they are intermittently better or worse. What the cause is - the dealer has suggested changing the door seal but wants me to pay for it and I am concerned I will end up paying out and still not get the problem fixed. As for the mirror I just don't know what to do....

The rubber around the rear passenger door of my 09 SE seems to have shrunk and pulled away from the spline. If I push it back in one spot, it pulls away in another.

I have noticed a rubber squeak from my driver's door on my 2010 ES 350. It disappears when the rubber is wet so I am thinking perhaps there is a silicon product that I could apply or another fix for this? Any solutions out there?

Okay here is the deal: My X has been leaking from the time that I purchased the thing almost 2 years ago, in the back intermittent at first and I have been trying to trace it. It's not the roof rack and not any hinges or goodies around the edge, top, door, trim, etc. So what is it! Well we finally got some rain here and I am pretty sure it's the actual glass seal!?!? What should I use to seal it If I pull all the nuts off the bolts does the glass pop out? I just don't want it to go "pop"

I do believe my a/c drain is plugged and wetting my passenger side carpet with water. I pulled my floor mat the other day to vacuum and noticed the carpet was wet underneath the weather tech floor mat. No water on top of the mat. It must be leaking down inside of firewall and under the mat.
My guess is I need to find the drain hose and un-plug it with weed cutter line or re-route the tube. I leave for a work trip tomorrow and don't have time to take it to the stealer. I have to run A/C the whole time so I know it will get wet again. I have today and tomorrow to figure it out.
PS - no rain here for months so I know it isn't the door seal leak. I have had the a/c on 24/7 all summer.
