I just bought a 2011 prius four with solar and navigation. Used the navigation yesterday, but my music wouldn't play while it was navigating. Is there any way to change the settings so that the music keeps playing and the navigation interrupts when it needs to give directions?
View 5 RepliesOn my old iPhone I used to use the usb port to charge, and play my music through. I just got a new phone, this time an android note 4, I noticed when i plug in my phone to the usb port, it won't play music, it just says error. It does however charge the phone. Is there any way around this? I know I can use bluetooth, but I've always preferred the usb port.
View 3 RepliesA few quick questions regarding using a USB stick on a Prius C. As my latest iPod has died, I decided to focus on using a USB stick.
a) Why do some album covers show up and some don't. I play the MP3 on my iTunes, Windows Media Player or VLC Player and I see the album cover, but some won't show on the stock radio (2015 Prius C).
b) What audio file formats have you been able to play via USB?
c) Any ways to have non-English text display for playback? I listen to a lot of Japanese, Korean and Chinese pop music, so it kind of sucks of having to rename nearly every artist/band name, track title and album title as it becomes quite tedious for each track.
D) Currently, I am using a 4GB stick and it takes a little while each time the playlist has to refresh, each time I start my car. But I would like to move up to a 32GB or 64GB USB stick. But I was wondering how long the wait time is for the playlist refresh? If it's too much, then I'll probably use a 8GB or 16GB. And any speed differences on a Prius USB if it was USB 2.0 or 3.0?
If I have my phone (iphone 5) paired up through bluetooth in my prius c and I am NOT playing any sort of music. Then I get or send out a call to someone, as soon as I hang up the bluetooth will start playing music through my phone. I looks like it is just opening my iphone's "music" app and playing the first song I have in there alphabetically. I looked around for any place to adjust settings but I can't seem to turn this auto play off.

I have tried numerous music players on Android and here's what happens:
Music plays fine. Bluetooth paired perfectly. Randomly the entire head unit will reboot. There is no pattern. It happens after about a minute and a half. It shuts off and comes back on.
I do not have an AUX in unfortunately. When I tried my wife's HTC EVO 4G on Android It worked perfectly. Only Bluetooth.
I tried to install entune. No dice. it says that ny VIN is invalid.
I just bought a 2014 Prius Three on Monday.
Yesterday, I accidentally hit the Voice Command button. It went to the screen and I got out of it. However then I couldn't hear any sound. The radio was clearly playing but no sound. When I pressed source it just showed a symbol in top right corner. I guess I should have thought to just turn the car off and restart because when I got home and did that, it worked fine.
My main question is about about the iphone 5, bluetooth, and Voice Controls.
I have bluetooth and Personal Hotspot enabled (so I do not have it plugged in to usb outlet) on my iphone enabled but it appears that I cant say "Play (Artist)" and have it play that from my iphone. It says something about an unsupported media device.
When I push the button on my Iphone and tell it to play a song, it does play a song but not the song I requested. It also shows on the car display that it is calling myself.
Voice commands for calling seem to work but I can't figure out if it is not possible to play songs using voice commands with an iphone or what the issue is.
I find my GPS in the Prius C is not giving sufficient time via audible alert before I need to turn, it only gives around 50 metres warning and at 60kph I find I miss the turn sometimes. I am sure I saw somewhere to adjust this but cannot find it again!

View 18 RepliesI have an Android phone paired to the bluetooth and I love being able to listen to audio apps on the car stereo. However, it has a most annoying habit. The most common app I listen to through BT is Audible recorded books. I also have Pandora and the stock music player on my phone. Generally, before I shut down, I press the pause button on the audio screen and turn off the audio power switch. When I restart the car and the BT audio, while it will usually start with the app I was last listening to (i.e., Audible), it very often decides it is going to play something from the music player. I don't understand why it makes this decision because it isn't because I have been listening to the music player since turning off the car!
View 4 RepliesI have a 2014 Prius Three with basic stereo (non-JBL). I'm trying to use a 64GB USB thumbdrive with about 5,000 mp3's grouped into different folders. Each folder has about 200 songs. Any song I play, doesn't matter which one, the headunit just stops playing on the middle of each song. What can I do to resolve this?
View 5 RepliesI have a 06 JDM prius with hard drive-based audio and navigation system. Today the car was parked in a ready mode with the stereo playing and the audio cut off abruptly. I investigated and found that all of the audio and navigation controls on both the steering wheel and center console were unresponsive. It is impossible to switch between modes I.e. CD, HDD,radio and the CD drive no longer rejects. Bluetooth pairing works but no sound coming from the driver side speaker when in a phone call. When the car is started the MFD shows that it's playing audio from the hard drive as shown below but there's no sound and its impossible to change tracks.

When using voice commands for playing a song on the USB drive it will list that as song 1/1 which is what it should do, If I choose a artist and album it will list all songs from that album. but how do I return to the playing the USB drive to play all songs from all artists?

I have the 2012 NAV and Entune stereo with USB port. My USB flashdrive (32GB) is organized via folders and sub-folders to separate genre and artists much like you would do when organizing music on a computer. My old Kenwood stereo read this format just fine but the Prius stereo just plays tracks based on their numeric filename so that everything with say 01 plays in order then it goes to 02 and so on.
Eventually it skips a bunch of music and starts over again so that I will hear repeat tracks well before listening to the entire 3000+ songs on the drive. I have no way of listening to one album from an artist or even switching between genres to find a song I want. I am basically limited to forwarding to the next track or pushing the List button and trying to cycle through all 200+ songs starting with the label 01.
My old system had a button for changing folders and another button for changing tracks.
Is it possible to stream my music via my android phone via cable to the USB port on the Prius?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2011 Prius III without Nav. It has bluetooth pairing, and pairs with the Galaxy Nexus phone (android) to make and receive calls just fine. However, there seems to be no way to play music through the phone? (I currently have an audio cable which I plug into my phone. But for various reasons, this is far from an ideal solution for me.)
I have contacted the Toyota dealership where I bought the Prius and they seem to think this does not work. However, can this really be the case?
(1) Is there something I'm missing in order to play music through bluetooth on my phone?
(2) If there isn't, what are my after-market options for doing so? (I don't need navigation or anything else.)
I just recently switched from an iPhone to the Optimus G Pro and the first thing I noticed is that I can't browse my music catalog or anything.

View 4 RepliesI just got my first Lexus (2013 GS350) ... I noticed an issue with connecting iPhone for bluetooth audio streaming / if there are any fixes for this. I have an iPhone 5 with iOS 8.3 that connects when the car turns on. However, sometimes when I switch modes to BT audio from say, FM radio, it'll say "Portable audio player connected" and my phone lock screen as well as the navi screen will show that the music is playing, but no audio is coming out of the car speakers. If I turn off the audio system and turn it back on, the music will play. I can also pause the audio on the navi screen then hit play and it will play. Pause then play on the phone does nothing.
View 1 RepliesI just got an android based LG phone from having an iPhone. I've paired my phone to my car and with the android I'm not able to browse my music library. With my iPhone I used to be able to browse all the albums and artists. Now I can't do any of that, I have to select the music through the phone. I was wondering if I'm missing something or if I'm just going to have to deal with this.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2013 prius 4 and I would like to access music through USB. I have 2 folders on my USB. However when I plug it in, it does not recognize the folders and I get a list of all songs from both the folders.
Is there a way for the system to read the folders and access songs from those folders only?
It's really aggravating that iPhone music is automatically played when I turn the car on. It happens even if the music app isn't open. Less than a month ago the dealership upgraded my car software, but that has made no difference. If I don't shut off bluetooth or disconnect the music, it will automatically play it.
