Gen 3 Prius (Audio/Electronics) :: Can't Browse Music Catalog Or Anything
Aug 8, 2013
I just recently switched from an iPhone to the Optimus G Pro and the first thing I noticed is that I can't browse my music catalog or anything.

View 6 RepliesBrowse button is greyed out when an iPhone 4S (iOS 5) is connected using Bluetooth. Browse button is not greyed out when connected with iPod cable.
View 19 RepliesI recently purchased a USB stocked filled it with music and as I'm scrolling through my music and about less than 5seconds into the Song the audio just turns off.?
View 18 RepliesI have the 2012 NAV and Entune stereo with USB port. My USB flashdrive (32GB) is organized via folders and sub-folders to separate genre and artists much like you would do when organizing music on a computer. My old Kenwood stereo read this format just fine but the Prius stereo just plays tracks based on their numeric filename so that everything with say 01 plays in order then it goes to 02 and so on.
Eventually it skips a bunch of music and starts over again so that I will hear repeat tracks well before listening to the entire 3000+ songs on the drive. I have no way of listening to one album from an artist or even switching between genres to find a song I want. I am basically limited to forwarding to the next track or pushing the List button and trying to cycle through all 200+ songs starting with the label 01.
My old system had a button for changing folders and another button for changing tracks.
Is it possible to stream my music via my android phone via cable to the USB port on the Prius?
View 1 RepliesI have a 2011 Prius III without Nav. It has bluetooth pairing, and pairs with the Galaxy Nexus phone (android) to make and receive calls just fine. However, there seems to be no way to play music through the phone? (I currently have an audio cable which I plug into my phone. But for various reasons, this is far from an ideal solution for me.)
I have contacted the Toyota dealership where I bought the Prius and they seem to think this does not work. However, can this really be the case?
(1) Is there something I'm missing in order to play music through bluetooth on my phone?
(2) If there isn't, what are my after-market options for doing so? (I don't need navigation or anything else.)
I am a new member and the happy owner of a prius series 3 2009 base model no satnav ...amazing vehicle should have bought one years ago.....i can use the mobile via bluetooth...but can't import my phonebook from the phone...so i manually enter numbers and names....
View 4 RepliesOn my old iPhone I used to use the usb port to charge, and play my music through. I just got a new phone, this time an android note 4, I noticed when i plug in my phone to the usb port, it won't play music, it just says error. It does however charge the phone. Is there any way around this? I know I can use bluetooth, but I've always preferred the usb port.
View 3 RepliesA few quick questions regarding using a USB stick on a Prius C. As my latest iPod has died, I decided to focus on using a USB stick.
a) Why do some album covers show up and some don't. I play the MP3 on my iTunes, Windows Media Player or VLC Player and I see the album cover, but some won't show on the stock radio (2015 Prius C).
b) What audio file formats have you been able to play via USB?
c) Any ways to have non-English text display for playback? I listen to a lot of Japanese, Korean and Chinese pop music, so it kind of sucks of having to rename nearly every artist/band name, track title and album title as it becomes quite tedious for each track.
D) Currently, I am using a 4GB stick and it takes a little while each time the playlist has to refresh, each time I start my car. But I would like to move up to a 32GB or 64GB USB stick. But I was wondering how long the wait time is for the playlist refresh? If it's too much, then I'll probably use a 8GB or 16GB. And any speed differences on a Prius USB if it was USB 2.0 or 3.0?
I just got an android based LG phone from having an iPhone. I've paired my phone to my car and with the android I'm not able to browse my music library. With my iPhone I used to be able to browse all the albums and artists. Now I can't do any of that, I have to select the music through the phone. I was wondering if I'm missing something or if I'm just going to have to deal with this.
View 1 RepliesI have a 2013 prius 4 and I would like to access music through USB. I have 2 folders on my USB. However when I plug it in, it does not recognize the folders and I get a list of all songs from both the folders.
Is there a way for the system to read the folders and access songs from those folders only?
It's really aggravating that iPhone music is automatically played when I turn the car on. It happens even if the music app isn't open. Less than a month ago the dealership upgraded my car software, but that has made no difference. If I don't shut off bluetooth or disconnect the music, it will automatically play it.
View 19 RepliesI just bought a 2011 prius four with solar and navigation. Used the navigation yesterday, but my music wouldn't play while it was navigating. Is there any way to change the settings so that the music keeps playing and the navigation interrupts when it needs to give directions?
View 5 RepliesRight now it plays alphabetically but could not play songs in one folder. I have group my songs in folders and wanted to know if this could be done. Do I have to reformat my USB drive? I have the five model.
View 2 RepliesI have a Prius two 2012, have been using an old iPod for music over USB, and a blackberry over bluetooth handsfree profile. blackberry phones allow you to manage which BT profiles are connected, I disabled the music over BT profile. but now I just got an iPhone 5s to replace both phone and ipod, it automatically pairs with all profiles supported by the car, no disable or selection per profile. I want to play music over USB, not BT, the quality is better.
But the iPhone doesn't support both, if BT music is enabled, then that is where it goes. i have not found a way to disable the BT music. I confirmed with Apple tech support, they say the car side decides what services to pair with the phone, the iPhone just slavishly does what it is told with no user control options. Looking then at option control on the radio side, i have looked at the radio BT setups, there is no option i can find to select which profiles to automatically connect. How to configure the BT settings so the iPhone is registered only for handsfree and not BT music? Pls note that have only the basic display audio...
Just bought a 2012 Prius 3.
Ipod music cuts in and out intermittently. Sometimes it will go 30-45 minutes without cutting out, other times it will happen much more frequently. At first Toyota did not want to admit there was a problem and made me come in a number of times to look at it. I tried different cables and ipods.
I just tried my iPod mini with the 3.5 mm audio cable and there is major hissing like you can't even hear the music. All the songs on my iPod are high audio quality. When I plug it in my Lexus via the same cable no issues. Can the dealer fix it?
View 6 RepliesI just picked up a used 2006 Prius today and it has bluetooth.... I paid the phone, but I have two questions.
1) is there a way to stream music using this built in bluetooth?
2) The Prius was asking me to SEND my contacts phonebook over to it.... but I don't see an option on my android phone for this...
I've had my new 2013 Model 3 for a whole week now and I love everything about it except for one thing: The Bluetooth will connect to my phone (Galaxy S3) and will play music from it, but it ignores the fact that all of the songs are in different folders. It treats all the music as if it is in a single folder and will let me move back and forth alphabetically or randomly, but I can't play a particular album. There should be controls at the bottom of the touch screen but they are grayed out and inaccessible.
View 10 RepliesWhen I use my iPod Touch in my 2010 Prius IV via USB it works great -- the song, album and artist names are all displayed properly on the Nav screen and it sounds great. But the tracks on the albums are listed and played in alphabetical order rather than the order that they appear on the album. For many albums, tracks are in context with adjacent tracks -- playing them in alphabetical order messes up that context.
View 4 RepliesI want to connect my digital music player (a Cowon iAudio 9) to my 2005 Prius (with JBL stereo and NAV). I want better sound than a cassette adapter or FM transmitter, and ideally I'd like to control it via steering wheel buttons and Prius touchscreen (and to see track info on it).
