Gen 2 Prius :: Headlights Create A Vertical Streak Of Light
May 22, 2010
When I'm driving at night and look out the back, the headlights of cars create a vertical streak of light, which have accents from the defroster lines.

View 5 RepliesSo since I got my GTI, I've had a streak on the outside of my window running vertical. I can clean it off, and the next time I roll my window down and then up I get a streak. I'm assuming something is in the door causing this?
View 6 RepliesI recently just purchased my 2010 Prius and the first mod I did was add new projectors/HID's. Upon ordering this kit I did not get the relay harness.
I also would like to add I drove my car around with my headlights out to see if a bulb out warning would come on and nothing. Also, if we add LED's to turn signals will this create a hyper flash?
Having problems with the vertical rear hatch window shattering? Mine is completely shattered, only the tint is holding it together. I can't see a single impact point (and don't think I backed into anything). It looks like a network evenly distributed over the entire rear window. But maybe this is the way safety glass breaks when it is hit at one point???
View 4 RepliesI have a vertical scratch on the rear passenger door on the driver's side. When window is fully closed, the scratch starts from below the weather strip molding and goes up about halfway on the glass. It looks to me something inside the door is rubbing against the glass when it's rolled down.
View 3 RepliesOccasionally i get a vertical line on the left side of the screen when the backup camera is on. Its like the old film days with the line running down on the screen. I can't recreate it.
View 3 RepliesI got involved in a small fender bender with a jeep wrangler and it left this mark above my wheel. It does not seem like any of my paint came off. It just has this horrible yellow streak from the friction. I don't want to buy one of those electric car buffers (broke college student) so is there a way I can fix this by hand?
View 5 RepliesAfter replacing the engine, clutch and pressure plate. Where the brake booster hooks up to create a vacuum, as I now have a very hard to push brake pedal, if indeed that is my problem. The pedal will not go down more than one half inch.
View 5 RepliesSo towed the trailer down to a remote lake side spot over the weekend, pretty bad dirt road with lots of breaking bumps. Now pushing the break pedal creates a swooshing noise, and a vibration under the hood around the master cylinder, and the power steering whines a little bit. Took it two several mechanics and 2 think it's the pump, one thinks it's the hydro booster? I tried to bleed any air out by turning the wheel all the way maxed and pushed the brakes, did nut really work, but I did notice that when pressing the brake pedal and turning the steering wheel at the same time, it becomes extremely difficult too turn the wheel, makes me think it's the pump because there is not enough pressure to do both?
View 5 RepliesI'm going to replace the rotors & pads on the X, was doing some research and read where slotted and drilled rotors actually create weak points in the rotor for vehicles this heavy.
View 14 RepliesMy headlights are like a dying flashlight. I recently attempted to plug in LED lights and tapped into the parking light directly above the high beams. This caused my pass HID to not work, which then I put both stock bulbs in. Both headlights are on now but at a super low brightness. Any clues on what I should check? There are no warning lights on . All lights function as should just not enough power going to the headlights.
View 16 RepliesThe far end of my passenger side wiper has been leaving about a 2 inch wide arcing streak lately. I figured I needed new inserts, so I replaced them yesterday. The passenger side wiper is still streaking in the exact same place. I know I put the new inserts in correctly, including installing the little metal clip at the end of the insert. What could be the problem? Could I need a new wiper blade? Do those things go bad?
View 14 RepliesI bought my Prius in November 2010. I replaced my headlights about three months ago when the right one went out. It went out again a few days ago. Then suddenly the diver side went out 2 days later. I also noticed that the right side parking light is out. The only lights that work are the high beams. I did check the fuses.
iPad ? HD ?
My headlights on my 2006 are hazy and yellow and the light output is reduced. I tried some plastic headlight cleaner stuff but it was clear for like a month, and now it looks even worse than before.
View 5 RepliesI am trying to adjust the vertical (up) AFS headlight aim on my 2010 RX 350. They currently point too low and do not illuminate the roads well enough at night. Note that the vehicle has the AFS HID headlights that are located next to the front grill.
The owner's manual provides do-it-yourself (DIY) instructions. Electronic version may be linked here: [URL] .....
I found adjustment bolt A elsewhere. Adjustment bolt B was found as illustrated.
Following these instructions on p. 512, I have tried adjusting the two silver bolts for the left and right AFS headlights by manually turning each pair of bolts on both sides with my fingers rather than a Phillips screwdriver, but no effort appears to affect the AFS headlight aim either vertically or horizontally.
The instructions also recommend taking the vehicle into the dealer if the headlights cannot be adjusted this way.
My headlight aim is all out of whack, the driver side light is aiming all the way to the passenger side. I searched the forums and know where the screws are for the vertical and horizontal adjustments. Counter clockwise for making the headlights go up and you're suppose to go the same direction on the horizontal adjustment as well. But my driver side headlight is aiming so far towards the passenger side already,I need to get the horizontal adjustment back to the left, which direction to turn? Clockwise or Counter?
View 2 RepliesI recently purchased a 2014 xle plus. The passenger seat is VERY low and there is no vertical adjustment control. Is there any way the seat can be raised. My wife is 5' 1" and cannot see over the dashboard.
View 1 RepliesThis morning opn my way to work, ny nav screen suddenly developed quarter inch vertical lines in my screen. Apparently this can be a navigation software issue. The screen itself is fine, as I can bring up other screens onto the display. Just not nav, audio and I forget which others. The "Disp" screen and the "menu" screens come up no problem.
I haven't checked fuses yet, but this seems a little coincidental that it started a few days after installing my ivic-d module.
As the title states, ASF Off started to flash on my '07 RX, it started out of the blue with no touching of anything on the car.
I still see both horizontal and vertical movement at start-up initialization, but I'm not sure if the vertical goes as high as before.
What's the proper way to trouble shoot this issue? I'm hoping it's just the sensor at the back of the car that maybe got "lose" during the salty winter driving.
My navigation screen shows vertical lines, climate and audio works fine , but when i hit navigation button , screen shows vertical lines

I'm having trouble with the seat adjustment (12-way) on the drivers seat of my 2005 V6. Basically the front vertical adjustment of the drivers seat doesn't move upwards - maybe a cm at most. The back of the seat moves up and down fully, but the front doesn't, so it feels like the seat is tipped forward... When I try to adjust the front upwards I get loads of whirring and clicking, but no movement.
