I can't seem to find definitive information on this subject.

View 5 RepliesMy husband is rebuilding our 07 Prius that has HID Headlights that were both broken and does not want to go back with HID due to cost. He wants to install complete Halogen Headlight assemblies from our parts car. He has rebuilt several Prius' for friends and family but has not done a change like this so he understands the basic differences but is stuck on the Wiring change to handle the low and high beam differences. Wiring is not his strong point!
View 19 RepliesFor the last 5 days my passenger headlight has been out so i switched on the brights to other drivers dismay because the brights worked it seemed, shortly after my drive home they went out too. So my drivers side is working fine, turn signals working fine.
(FYI these are not HID Headlights they are base model regular headlights)
Today i spent a painful 20 minutes taking out the bulb and replacing it, showed light wear but didn't seem burned out (i replaced it anyways) PS i made sure not to touch the bulb to my skin as that usually results in a burn out.
The one thing i did notice was the wire connector that goes over the 3 prongs from the bulb itself was a little worn out and had some black around the edges.
My 2005 Prius with around 60K has the occasional Headlight Leveling Warning Light. My question is how serious is this? Do I need to go to the dealer or can I wait on it? The lights still work fine.
View 1 RepliesI have an 07 Prius and the headlights started going out so I bought new HID D4R bulbs and they do the same thing. I want to replace the ballasts. How to do this? Any thing special about it?
View 1 RepliesSo I bought two new HID bulbs for my 2007 prius. Mostly it had been the left one that turned off after a while. So i put a new bulb in and it goes out after about 10 seconds. So i put the other new bulb in and it goes out after 10 seconds too.
View 4 RepliesHere is the story, My HID headlights at 45k miles started to flicker and within seconds turn off. My only solution was to turn the lights on/off but the problem would constantly reoccur.
After calling the dealership and speaking to the morons there, I decided to replace the bulbs myself. I successfully replaced both hid headlight bulbs and the bulbs seemed to work perfectly. Sadly, the next day I realized that bulbs would still go out, sometimes the left side, sometimes the right side, sometimes both sides.
Relatively new Prius owner. I have a 2007 Touring model. I have two concerns I'm hoping some veterans can address for me.
1. I noticed last night that my left HID headlight turns off randomly (I saw it in the reflection of the car in front of me). I turned off the lights and turned them back on, and the headlight was working again for about 5 minutes before turning off again. This consistently happens so I'm pretty much driving with only one headlight on. The right headlight isn't having this problem, luckily.
Looks like Toyota had a settlement over the issue. I would post a link but since I'm a new users it's not allowing it.
Is it possible to replace my stock Prius 4 halogen headlight assemblies with the Prius package 5 stock LED headlight assemblies? Is the wiring the same or totally different? More trouble than it's worth perhaps?
View 19 RepliesHave an '06 Prius, 154,000+ on it... A set of controls on the right hand side of the steering wheel have just quit functioning... controls the windshield defrost, the rear window & mirror defrosters and the inside/outside air circulation.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2013 III with 8k on the clock and discovered a few hours after washing it there was moisture in both of the tail light assemblies. It evaporated several hours later, which made me wonder if the assemblies were vented instead of sealed. Do they are sealed or vented?
View 4 RepliesMy right headlight keeps going how so I went to Autozone thinking I would just grab a bulb.
Their chart shows that my 2009 Prius can have either HID or Halogen.
I have a 2009 Prius with NON HID headlights. The left one appears to not adjust properly. If I remove the bulb boot, the light bounces up and down (the part that is supposed to adjust). When I turn the adjuster, it will wiggle down then up again, like it is not engaging the screw inside... Also, when I hit a bump, the left beam bounces. The main housing is secure, just the inner (adjustable) one is not.
View 5 RepliesRecently my 05 RX330 had the driver side low beam bulb go out. I took it to a few places and they said take it to the dealership as they have special tools to change it. Of course I took it there and they were ready to charge me an arm and a leg to get 1 little bulb replaced. My question is do you have recommendations as to what I should do to get this fixed and not have my wallet get destroyed?
View 8 RepliesMy 2005 has an intermittent headlight problem. The drivers side headlight goes out intermittently when it rains.. That is, it does not blink on and off just that sometimes it goes off and sometimes it doesn't. As I live in Phoenix Arizona this does not happen often but it has been happening for a year or so. I go looking at all the connections, where ever they are.
View 1 RepliesThe dealership states that this is not a big problem and that the headlights will not be affected but the malfunction light stays on and the exclamation point is on the dashboard. The fix: replace the rear sensor harness where corrosion on the connection and pin was found - new harness assembly needed. What about just replacing the pin? Dealer states you cannot cut the wire and replace because the wires are not sealed.
View 2 RepliesI have a 2007 F150 XL that has the power windows and locks, I have the sensor on the dash for the auto headlights so I'm curious if I just need the auto headlight switch for this to work on my truck. I need to remove the headlight switch so I can try to connect the DB/OG and the DB/WH wires to see if this will make the circuit complete for the auto headlights. Anyway, I don't have a manual. How to remove the switch so I can get at the wires?
View 3 RepliesSo I started having the issue with my drivers side headlight going out and saw the many threads regarding issues with the bulbs and ballast.
I started out purchasing a new bulb, from ebay TOYOTA PRIUS GENIUNE PART PHILIPS D4R 42406 XENON HID HEADLIGHT LIGHT LAMP OEM
Came in "Toyota" box. Got the bulb in and still had issues with the light turning off... so then I bought the after market ballast and replaced it yesterday. Light still going off.... What to check? Just read the article regarding bulbs, going to pull out the one I just got and have a better look at it.... Not all HID Bulbs are created equal.
I have my daytime running lights on all the time since purchase in 2004 - this is the first time I am changing any kind of bulb on the car.Headlights are ok when starting car, but after it warms up the headlight goes off. Took it to my local repair shop and they said the connector was loose but that night the headlight was off again.
View 9 RepliesBought an 04 a couple of weeks ago and the passenger side headlight is way high.I turned the adjustment knob and it does nothing. The drivers side light is fine, but out of curiosity I turned that knob and it didn't do anything either.I'm thinking about buying an aftermarket assembly.
View 1 RepliesEvery now and then one of the HID headlights goes out on our 2006 Prius, seems to be a random event not favoring either headlight. Shutting the headlights off, then turning them back on again corrects the issue. The problem with using this fix is that it isn't good for the HID bulb.
