I've got a 2007 Prius and the tire pressure sensor light came on long ago and won't reset. My tires are properly inflated. Rather than to keep speculating I figured I could use the Mini VCI to see if any codes or information come up.
View 16 RepliesTwo days ago I had new tires put on my 2007 Toyota Highlanders and since that time my air pressure sensor light keeps coming on. The tires are the right size, I checked in the owners manual. I've taken it back to the shop that put on the tires twice. The first time they told me the spare was low on air. the second time they told me the batteries in the air pressure sensors are dying and need to be replaced. I thought that sounded like a lame excuse so left the shop and called the Toyota Dealer and asked if the air pressure sensors have batteries. The service department at the Toyota dealer laughed and said no, they run off the car's battery. I called the shop back to tell them I was very disappointed and unhappy that they tried to sell me something that doesn't exist and they stood by the batteries in the sensors story and claimed they would show them to me if I would come back to the shop. Who should I believe? Replacing the batteries in tire air pressure sensors?

My 2nd gen prius was recently in an accident; I got hit directly on the passenger side rear right tire. Car has been in the shop for over a month, they replaced the rim (moved the old pressure sensor over with the tire), doorshell, bumper, and rear axle beam.
I picked up my car yesterday, and on my way home the TPS warning light comes on. I go back to the repair shop, and they said one of the sensors were asleep and they just had to re-activate it and clear the error code.
I am driving down the road and the TPMS light starts to blink - and then stays on. I looked in the manual and it says that "When the light comes on after blinking for 1 minute: Malfunction in the tire pressure warning system." The resolution is to "Have the system checked by your Toyota dealer."
All my pressures, including the spare are how I have them set. I also made sure to re-set the TPMS button under the steering wheel to the new pressures and everything. I'll let you know what I find out. I'm kinda mad a sensor has failed though on a car that's less than one year old.
Ever since it started getting cold here in the Northeast (mid December ish) my tire pressure sensor light is on. I know that it may be necessary to add air during cold weather as the air in the tire can contract in the cold but the pressure is fine - I had my mechanic check it out. Light does go out when it warms up - at least above freezing - but comes back on again when it gets cold. Normally I spend most of the winter in Florida but am usually here (in MA) until mid Jan. and this has never happened in previous years.

View 40 RepliesMy is350 F sport tire pressure sensors. Well I have after market wheels with the stock tire pressure sensors, when they were first installed everything was fine, now about 2 months later now that it is a little cooler. My two back sensors are showing the warning light. it still reads the pressure and shows correct pressure but sensor warning light for both rear tires are on. Why this is? I was thinking the colder weather but why only the rear two and not the front. they go off and on but lately both have been on.

View 18 RepliesI took my Prius to get one of the air pressure sensors replaced on a front tire. When they returned it to me they told me that the ABS and the VSC lights were on and did I know that. I told them that was not on before. Anyway they told me they could not fix it an I needed to take it to the dealer to get it re-calibrated which i did.. How can I prove that this happened when the tire was being worked on, or can I?

View 19 Replies2009 Ford Explorer, 6cyl, 4L, 33K miles. When its started up, the message "Tire Sensor Fault" appears along with the low tire icon flashing (steady light after ~30 seconds). I can then press the reset button on my dash to clear the message. However, the tire light icon stays lit. I've checked and re-checked the tire pressure in all the tires (spare included) and I'm right at the recommended 32-34 psi on all the tires. No signs of leaks at all. I'm assuming one (or more) of the tire pressure sensors have gone bad and there's no way for a garage (or myself) to identify which one or repair this. Should I assume a trip to the dreaded dealer for this problem ???
View 10 RepliesHad the low tire light indicating a tire has low pressure, which I have had happen before and so inflate all tires from 38 to 40 lbs each. After a few tire rotations, lamp extinguishes. Except this time it doesn't. It blinks for a minute then lights steady.
Any way to reset it (didn't find anything in owners manual) or tell if its the sensor in a tire or the sensor element on car? Either way suppose will be a visit to Toyota repair. Oh well, first real visit for a problem in six years (other than for recalls), other than headlight replacements and oil changes.
The tire pressure light just came on in a 5 year old tire that I decided to put on the ES350.
The two front tires are 36 lbs, two rear were 32, I adjusted them all to be around 32 and the light is still on, including the spare tire in the trunk.
I decided to put this tire on because it has much better tread than the last. Regardless, I don't know why the light is on.
Last night, I changed to winter wheels and drove today with no problem. Just now one the way home, the low tire pressure warning light blinked for a minute and remained on. I checked the tire pressure and all 4 tires are even at 35psi. I tightened all wheels properly at 76 ft/lb using a torque wrench.
View 7 RepliesMy Tire pressure indicator light starts FLASHING after driving for 15-30 minutes. It does not stay on but continues to flash every 3 seconds. I stop to check tire pressure and my tires are fine. After a couple weeks of this, I took it to the Subaru Service who checked the tire pressure indicators and it said all 4 of them were bad. They reset them versus replacing them and 20 minutes after I left the subaru service center, the flashing started again.
Subaru says that it is unusual for all 4 to be back at the same exact time and recalibrating them should have fixed it. Now they would like to replace each of them for about $150 parts&labor EACH. That seems crazy. Is there something else wrong? Something else they can fix? Is this a legitimate repair? My subaru is the Limited LL Bean version, 6 cylinder, has 60K miles on it and is in top condition. Had new tires put on 10,000 miles ago.

View 8 RepliesI have a 2007 F-150 that I'm having a little problem with. The tire pressure indicator light has kept coming on almost every time I drive it. I checked the tires, all register 35 pounds cold which is what it calls for. It has been going on in hot or cold weather for the past 4-5 months but will go off after I'd say 5 or 10 minutes of driving it. I really can't figure out what is going on with it. Bad sensor maybe? I looked to find something about this but couldn't or I didn't look hard enough.

This morning my TPM light came on. I stopped off at a service station and checked all the pressures, but they were all fine. Is there is history of faulty sensors?
View 16 RepliesYesterday, my wife took my car to LA and the CEL came on and stayed on (it's not blinking). It doesn't seem like anything is really wrong with the car other than the light being on. My wife says it seems to be running fine since the CEL came on.
Then this morning, my wife turned on the car and the check tire light came on, but then went off. Last week, I had my new rims (19x.8.5) and tires (235/35-19) installed, so I guess that could have something to do with it. My wife checked the tires and there's nothing wrong with them.
I want to figure out what the heck is going on with my R (sucks that all this started happening the one time my wife took the car out of town....Murphy's law I guess). I have an APR stage 1 tune, and want to avoid potential issues with a punk dealership in LA. Consequently, I'd like to try to figure out what is going on with my VAG-COM before I take it to the dealer.
Here are my questions:
1. Could my new rims and tires have caused the CEL to come on and stay on? Seems unlikely, but since the check tire light started acting up, I though they might be related.
2. Is there a way to scan my car with VAC-COM to figure out what is causing the CEL?
