I just installed my raceland downpipe and a 2.5 inch techtonics catback exhaust. all of a sudden i get a very in frequent ticking or clanking sound when the car is moving or right after i turn it off. it sounds like its coming from inside the piping. What this is?
View 1 RepliesMy car, whenever i am moving in reverse, makes this noise. It is not a clicking noise, but almost sounds like the ring of a church bell. It is not the banging of the bell but the ring of one. In the searches, everything and everyone was talking about a clicking, but mine is a loud ringing noise, and I have no clue, It also sound like the noise is coming from the back of the car.

View 2 RepliesI just rolled 100k in the 337. Time to do some refreshing. 2 noticeable issues (non-motor related anyway )
1 - sometimes when turning hard left to right, or vice versa, I hear and feel a "cluck", almost like the something is shifting.
2 - I've got a creak from the front (and I think maybe the back too) when I get out of the car. Sometimes I hear it when I slowly go over a bump as well.
3- I think my rear shocks are on the way out.
In the last 15k I replaced both the inner and outer tie rods. That's all I've done to the suspension.
I have a mkiv gli. With 41k miles on it. And when I turn my wheels either way it makes a loud strenuous noise that seems like my power steering cause its only noisy when I turn.
View 2 Repliesso I bought my gli about a month ago assuming it needed a clutch (got it for a steal so wasn't worried about it) the kid I bought it from didn't really know much about the issue but it was a constant grinding when in gear and moving but the second you engage the clutch it would stop, and quiet down completely, so I dropped the trans and inspected clutch, throw out bearing, & fly wheel it all looked new.
So than my second guess was it was something internally in the transmission so I sent it out to be inspected and repaired as needed. I got a call from the shop today that said everything was perfect so I am completely stumped as to what my problem is. I have a new clutch, flywheel, throwout bearing, all new linkage, & am changing fluid. I don't know what else it could be and really don't wanna have to drop the trans again once its back together.
I was searching but I can't find any DYI's on turning your Daytime Running Lights off on our cars. I don't feel like buying a euro switch right now. How to do this or has done this to their vw's?

View 4 RepliesI have an 04 GLI with around 130,000 miles. I have developed a squeaking noise coming from the front end of the car. I cant really tell if its the right or left side. I can tell you i only hear it when driving under 30 mph and it seems to happen more often when i slightly turn the wheel to the right. Also when i accelerate from a stop or let off the clutch pedal into 2nd or 3rd. I wonder if it could be the wheel bearings going bad? I replaced both front and rear control arm bushings back in December just for some background. FYI, by squeaking i mean the sound of metal to metal. Its not a squeal or hiss, or anything to do with a boost leak. When you hear it, it sounds like a squeak, squeak, squeak kinda pattern but comes and goes depending on speed and the turning of the steering wheel.
View 2 RepliesSo tonight at 8:30 I started up my car to get ready to leave work. I turned my light switch to activate the headlights and I only saw the amber light on the wall in front of me. I was worried because I need headlights in order to get home. I tried activating the fogs and turning the switch on and off but only my parking lights were working. I turned the car on and off a few times and all of a sudden the headlights finally turned on. I drove around town afterwards to run errands and the headlights were turning on just fine. What would cause this issue and I really don't want it to get to the point where I can't drive my car at night.
View 8 RepliesI just got 4 brand new tires put on balanced and aligned twice. Now when the wheel is straight i get minimal vibration. But if I turn left I get no vibration. When I turn right at all its a pretty medium loudness vibration. almost sounds like something rubbing. Now I just found out my coilovers are all messed up on height. If I level it do you think that will fix my vibration? the guy at tire plus said possible transmission causing vibration but the tranny seems fine to me. he also said if I raised it about a quarter inch it could stop it all together possibly. But I love being low....

View 3 RepliesI picked up my beloved 20th last week. It has this feature that when you shut the car off it closes the windows and sunroof. It's very annoying. Is this an aftermarket item that is doing this or is it a stock program? I don't think the car has an aftermarket alarm but I'm not 100% positive.

View 2 RepliesI originally own an mk4 r32 but my friend owns a 20th.. He recently lowered his car about an inch or 1.5 of an inch he might have a finger gap.. He is on jam coilovers all the way down in the rear and about 20 threads left up front.. There is a nasty sound coming from the front driver side when he is turning or going straight.. he still didn't do an alignment idk if that matters.. and he also miscounted the threads so his driver side is about two threads higher but he fixed that now.. he also doesn't have camber plates up front does this matter?
