I busted a spring and apparently a strut. The mechanic said I'd need to replace the front suspension, and offered to do it for 1000$ which I thought was very high. Now I am debating whether to simply get a cup kit or coil overs. I am leaning towards the cup kit to save money. Now I am curious what you guys think regarding the H&R cup kit and where I could get the best deal on them.
View 23 RepliesNoticed the other day when I was backing my GLI out of the garage a clunking or popping noise that sounds like it's coming from the drivers side. It only doesn't it once and only when I am backing out and turning at the same time like out of my garage or parking spot at work. My car has roughly 54 thousand miles on it and still the original suspension.
View 10 RepliesI have a 20th with 106k on it and I notice mostly my right front rubbing on hard turns. Suspension is totally stock other than a 28mm rear sway. Is it possible that's causing it or is my suspension just getting old? No spacer on the fronts.

View 10 RepliesIs this possible? I recently installed raceland ultimos and I get this weird muffled noise from the top of the rear suspension. Took it all apart, cut the bump stops shorter, and lubed the strut mounts. Sound went away for about 10 mins of driving, went for another drive and the sound was back. The next day the weather was warmer and the noise was gone. Should I just get new strut mounts?

I cant even remove the old strut because the damn lower strut mounting bolt is seized and I've been trying for hours to remove it at no avail. I have used pb blaster, my heat gun, and my sweat. I dont have impact tools, just my ratchet..

View 3 RepliesSo I replaced the front strut and the popping is still there. When I removed the old strut it seemed like that would be the problem as there isn't any play in the ball joints and tie rod end.
View 12 RepliesEvery time I am on the road I get this flat noise coming from the front like if the strut was out of air or something like that. It is a very annoying sound and only on certain bumps of the road.
View 6 RepliesThe front passenger side is making a quack-like noise when the suspension is compressed. it only happens after the suspension has had some time to warm up, but once it does, i am able to push down on the passenger side fender and hear it, in addition to hearing it over bumps, etc.
I just had the tie rod end replaced on that side, and that was well after noticing the noise (but not intended as a fix for the noise). when i press on the suspension myself, it seems the sound is coming from an area closer to the firewall than the strut tower. i'd say the sound is pretty audible inside the cabin.
What it could be? lca bushings? subframe?
I have a 1997 F250 Light Duty with a 5.4L and 4 wheel drive, 216,000 miles. Last year one of my front tire chains broke and ripped the ABS wire. I have soldered them back together and no longer have the ABS light illuminated in the dash. However, when I apply the brakes at speeds slower than 25 mph, the ABS pulses. Over 25 mph the brakes work as they should until almost stopped and then they pulse.
View 1 RepliesI have had a bad squeak on the front passenger side suspension. It only happens while you are pulling into a driveway, going over a speed bump, or driving slow on a bumpy road. I brought my car to my mechanic and he thought it was the control arms that were shot. They were changed after forking over some cash. I noticed right away the handling was better due to the control arms which is said were shot. But... the squeak is still there, and has not become lower sounding at all. He said it might have something to do with the suspension but it is not worth it to change all the parts.

I have cut out the rear springs and replaced them with a four link lowering it 4" and installing an air bag suspension. I would like to run air bags up front, as well, but haven't been able to find much about that. What size to use?
View 7 RepliesI bout a 2010 AWD LS460 in July and immediately noticed noises coming from the rear and front. The rear was a loud thud going over certain bumps and the front is making rattling noises. I lowered the windows and went down a rather bumpy block and the car sound like the bottom is falling out. I took it to the dealer and they had it for 2 and 1/2 weeks waiting on the rear air shocks to come in. They gave it back to me and did not address the front. Now the service manager is going away for two weeks and wants me to come back if I still feel the need to have the from done. The master tech stated the front left suspension needs replacing. I feel they are trying to drag this out so they dont have to pay for the repairs. The car has 80K and was bought from Bay Ridge Lexus and is not under CPO.

View 4 RepliesWent to lower my front end today and after trying for 15 min the nut directly under the spring was frozen. i sprayed it with PB blaster let it sit for like 20 min, kept on spraying it during that time. tried adter that and still did not budge a mm. even tried with a flat head and a hammer trying loosen it. did not work. was wondering if there was any other way i can get it loose?
