I don't think I am in the right forum but I don't know where to post it. I have a 20th and when the car idles it shakes a little but when I take off the car rumbles alot the only way not to make it rumble is rev it to 1500rpm what can it be causing this?? I have a catback tt exhaust can it cause it to do it?

View 6 RepliesMy 20th Gti is shaking. So when I accelerate to about 80mph and then let off the gas it the front end will start shaking and once I tap on the gas a little it will stop. Why is it doing this and what is it that has gone bad?
View 16 RepliesI am currently running 8mm ECS spacers in the front and 17.5mm ECS spacers in the rear. My Summer set up is still stock BBS RC's, but my winter wheels are Lenso's.
Last winter was my first winter running with the Lenso's and had no issues. This past weekend I swapped out the BBS's for the Lenso's, and now I am feeling vibration above 60MPH. I felt no vibration with the BBS's. I just took them in to get balanced (maybe a weight fell off-idk), and they were within 1/4 of 100% balanced. They then thought it may be the spacers I'm running so they cleaned them up, but said that it didn't work.
My alignment is also spot on-so that's not an issue either. I am at a loss as to what would make me feel that vibration after just changing out the wheels.
My 1.8t gli is giving me this issue, when braking (specially hard) my steering wheel shakes side to side, my rotors got changed less than 20,000 miles ago (all of them) and they seem fine right now.
Could this be my Tie Rod ends? The car has 110,000 miles on it, and i know some bushings if not all need to be changed, which I am gonna be installing when i put on the Raxles i just got.
I have a 2003 20th anniversary edition GTI. Yesterday I noticed my car started shaking when I was driving on the highway. The only thing I can think of that I did was run into a snow bank during the snowstorm. What is causing my car to shake?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2004 gli and there r no lights an no codes but when I am driving the car shakes a little almost if the motor was bogging down a little. its nothing to major just a slight back and forth movement. I cant seem to figure out the problem it seems to go away during acceleration. Also one other thing is it seems to do it worse when its warmer!
View 1 RepliesI have a 05 gli w/ 65k miles. I got new plugs gaped correctly and new coils. When I'm idling at 7-800rpm my steering wheel shakes a little and when I flip on the ac it's even more noticeable. So much the rear view mirror shakes just a tad. What do yall think it could be cause it's not that bad but I'm anal about my cars and I want it to be perfect.
View 11 RepliesI started up my car after work and and it had a super low idle it almost seemed like it wanted to shut off. I brought the rpms up to 2k for only for a few sec. Let off it was fine? It was cold out. But its never done that b4.
It almost felt like it was bogging out. I have brand new air filter. And spark plugs.
I just put on a magnaflow cat-back exhaust and sometimes when i idle i have a rattle and sometimes it will not rattle. I went under it and shook all around to see if anything was hitting but there was nothing i could see. What could it be?
View 4 RepliesI've been fixing some boost leaks and changed "race" valve out to the stock "f" type...drove down road it's awesome put it back into 93 mode apr chip give it hell in 1st and 2nd then turn onto another road to repeat and when comes under boost it sputters...like a bad coil pack but wouldn't that mean it sputters from idle up?
View 3 RepliesLately, every once in awhile my cars idle will drop and the car acts like it will die, but never does. I tried turning up the idle +50 with v-tune to see if it would cure the problem, but the car still acts like it will die during idle.
View 2 RepliesSo my car has 67k on it, is babied and taken care of. She runs good however at idle, she seems to put out small little backfires. I just noticed this a little while ago. Sitting in the car I can feel when this happens, it's like a small quick sputter but I'm getting no noises from the engine when these fluctuations happen. The exhaust from almost up by the DP back to the tailpipe will move with the sputter if that makes sense. Seems like it's a slight misfire but im not really sure what it could be. runs strong and the temp always reads normal and I am getting no CEL.

My car now smokes, and I thought it would stop smoking after a few hours of letting it run, but It still smokes, at Idle. and once I step on it after Idling, it smokes alot. but after constant driving, like on highway, It doesn't smoke.
View 8 RepliesMy cars runs great no smoke unless i let it idle for a while then go there might be a little white smoke or blue smoke just depends, doesn't do it all the time just random, my oil is perfect no water in it so I don't think headgasket, its running a precision 50 trim bigger injectors and full 3 inch exhaust.

View 1 RepliesSo I was warming up my car after work tonight, and it was idling really rough right above 1RPMS and i heard a lil knocking noise from the engine what could have caused this? I was parked on a slight hill but i doubt that has something to do with it.
Also my buddy told me a way to see if my clutch was going out, is to try and kill the car while in gear, so i tried 1st time it shook really really bad but didn't die. So I tried again and it seemed like it was trying to catch its self and then shook bad again and then died. I did this in 1st gear just letting off the clutch before giving it gas. Does this mean my clutch could be going out already? the car only has 63k on it...
Have a jazz blue chipped tuned with giac.. It does this random times.. When I come to a red light on idle the rpms go up and down just a bet but never stalls. The car vibrates and the engine shakes a bit. Engine is stable when car is on and off. Idk if its motor mounts or what?
View 10 RepliesWhile starting up the 337 this morning, I received a stumbling idle from the engine. I popped the hood and noticed that there was a bit of bluish / purplish discoloration on the tops of the coilpacks. Gonna replace the packs and plugs today, just wanted to know if there was anything else I should check for.
Also, this wouldn't be related to the death of the driver's side door lock module would it? (I noticed that when i opened the door, the light and the fuel pump didn't prime....)
I have a mk4 gli and I'm having a problem with serpentine belt squealing when I'm at idle and when I turn the ac on. It's isn't all that loud at idle but when I turn on my ac it gets real loud. My ac stopped working a little but after this noise started to happen. Could it be possible that it's the bearing in the compressor that is making it squeal or could it be somthing else?
View 2 RepliesThe car will start up fine, run for 10 - 20 min and stall. I will try and restart it but i takes atleast 7 or 8 sec of the car just turning over before it slowly fires up. Which results in a high idle 1200-1400 rpm and the car stalling another 5 min later.
Ive fixed my o2 sensor the wire was cut, replaced the fuel filter, and got a eurojet lower pcv hose for the vacuum leak i found.
