GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Radio Stay On When Car Turned Off / Doom Light Did Not Come On When Door Open

Today I got my car inspected (05 gli) and after the inspection, when I was driving home and went to a gas station. When I turned my car off and got out the radio (monsoon) stayed on. Then later when I opened my door the dome light did not come on. Passenger door turns light on and shuts radio off. I believe it is a door sensor? Where is this located and how do I change it or any other possibilities of what it could be? I did some research, and I have no issues locking the doors (security light blinks) and the passenger door works fine. Hoping there is a way to fix this without buying a whole new lock mechanism.

so i have opened and closed every door a million times and my open door light is staying on and when i lock it it doesn't beep like it should. i lock it and then whenever later my alarm/ panic horn goes off. it did this a few days ago but went away but now it won't. [URL]..............

I have a light flickering on and off that claims the door is open, after a few months and a lot of testing I have come to the assumption that the sensor in my trunk hatch is sending a relay to the computer as if the door is open.... I can't find a latch sensor or relay for this thing, just the striker plate and the wiring that unlocks the switch as well as the wiring for the rear wiper blade....

why does it shut off radio before you open door? Can this be programmed so that when u turn engine off, radio stays on till driver door is opened? My wives Audi does this and is great for waiting at bank drive-up, or picking up someone.

so whenever i unlock my car with the remote on the key, i can open the door. while the door is still open it will lock back, turning the alarm on as well. would that have anything to do with the key? or some other problem?

I have a 2004 F150 Screw Lariat and the problem is this: After turning of the truck, removing key from ignition and opening the door the following happens:
1. Radio stays on (will time out)
2. The power windows still work
3. The interior dome lights stay off
It's as if the door switches have been removed from the circuit. I've tried all doors. There are references to the GEM module but I didn't think there was one in this truck.
For the door switches, when the door is closed, the circuit is open, when the door is open the circuit is closed. I'm not sure what to check next. I checked some of the relays - auxilary delay relay, power relay etc etc. but I would think its a relay issue.
The door open signal is transmitted on the UBP network, no idea about that and they feed into the body control module - not sure where this is.

Own a 2005 Carvan. Yesterday, the door warning light; the odometer; and the doom light came on and would not shut off. It's as if the car thinks one of the doors are ajar-they are not. We turned the doom light off but the battery went dead overnight-reading lights either came on or I didn't notice them. Is this a sensor problem that I can fix or try to fix. If not, what sort of problem is it and how much to repair. The day before this happened, my drivers side window was left open and rain came in on the door panel-if this has any bearing.

I had my first and second gear go out on my gti over a month ago, it sat at my house for a little over 2 weeks. When I finally was able to take it to the transmission shop it needed a jump. A week later my transmission was rebuilt and clutch replaced. Car needed a jump when leaving the shop too.
I took it home and a bit later tried to go somewhere and... nothing. Completely dead, won't charge or be jumped. Sunroof was half open and windows cracked. Rained that night so I had a make-shift cover with trash bags and a container top. (I don't know if this matters but just in case it may be water related.)
The next day I got a new battery and changed it. Car worked fine for 2 days. This morning I tried to start it and it fluttered and battery completely shut off. Jumped it and tried to take it around the block after few and it shut off mid drive, but was able to restart while rolling. Then when I pulled over and hit the four ways it immediately shut everything off again. I had someone come with cables so I could just get it home, and as soon as I connected the red cable to + it sparked and the lights and everything turned on, started right up. (the jumper cables were not connected to anything on the other side)
Finally I got it back home and when I pulled into the driveway and stopped I hit the window buttons and boom, everything off again.
Confusing story, but what could be wrong? I included everything just in case. (I have 2 keys, one which keyless entry works and one which it doesn't as of recent. I have used both. Don't know if immobilizer could be it either.)

I have a 2011 Sonata Limited that now has 70k+ miles on it. For the past year I have been having a problem with the car turning off intermittently, it will occur at random times. I have had no issues starting the car whatsoever.
When I go to shut off my car the engine will turn off, but the cabin lights, and radio will stay on. The screen will also tell me to shift to park. Without turning the car fully on, I can shift the gears sometimes and I will shift it from drive to park again, and it still will not fully shut off. Today, it actually took 20 minutes to get it to go off - every time I hit the start/stop button I could hear it click as well, which was a new noise that I hadn't detected.
I have presented this problem to the dealership, but every time I do take it in the issue never seems to occur while there (just my luck) and they say they have "never heard of such an issue" to the point where I feel insane.
All recalls have been taken care of on my car at this point so I am not sure what the issue is, my fear is the switch is going out, but wouldn't I have the same issue starting the car?

I just had the clutch replaced and immediately noticed the door open light on the dash wouldn't go off. I tried all the door, hatch and hood to check and it stayed on. Even if I turned off the interior lights, the interior marker light on the bottom corner of the passenger side door only will stay on, the drivers side goes off. I already called the place where the clutch was done and he said to bring it in and he'll take a look at it....which I'm doing today..... What the cause could be. Maybe the door switch is faulty?

20th Anniversary sat for 2 months and battery was flat when I went to start it today. I jumped it and got it running. However, when I went to close the hatch it will not stay latched. The latch on the hatch is hitting the striker on the lip of the trunk, but it just won't stay shut. Is any part of the latching mechanism electronically or vacuum operated?

So my car started to misfire when under boost so I had the car scanned the first time and came up with codes P0302, P0303, and P0304 which are all for misfires. I replaced the coil packs not even a year ago and the car drove fine as long as I wasn't in boost. My rpms would fluctuate a little bit but not much. I changed the spark plugs and it seemed to work a little bit but it would still misfire under higher boost. The one thing I noticed was my vacuum sits at around 15-17 in when it used to be around 19-20. I've cleaned and disconnected the MAF and the idle didn't improved. I also cleaned the MAP sensor and AIT and the CTS is new. I've done a pressure test and I found some leaks and fixed them but still no luck. Then yesterday my car started running really rough at idle and the cel would flash while driving then stay solid while stopped. Got the car scanned today and got codes P0300, P0301, P0303, and P0304.

OK, maybe I'm just spooking myself, but I've been getting poorer gas mileage than usual as of late, like 4 to 5 mpg less. I used to get 30+ when I took my car to work, but lately I've been getting 25 to 26 mpg. I calculated it out and it seemed less still, though I didn't do a very accurate calculation.
The other day, I felt like my ESP was kicking in early because my tires are getting a bit old and bald, so I turned it off for my drive home. I immediately noticed that I felt like more power was available (though that was probably my mind playing tricks) and my average MPG for the trip shot up to the 28.5 mpg range with some spirited driving.
Where the ESP or ASR has caused lower MPG? I replaced my MAF sensor recently because it had gone bad, or at least I was fairly certain it had, but now I'm not sure. I also have coil-packs due in the next few thousand miles or so as well, but this seems sporadic. I diagnosed the MAF (which the car was getting around 22MPG before the change) by disconnecting it. It shot up to the 30MPG range with it disconnected, but thinking back, my CEL as well as the ESP light came on. I'm wondering if my ECU turned off the ESP with the MAF disconnected and that is what increased my mileage, not the bad MAF...

My radio does not work kinda... when i turn the car on it works for a minute just fine, then the volume goes off and i cant put it up or down, but i can use and other function cd/casset fm, change stations and all that i just cant use the volume, or hear anything if i turn the radio off and then back on it works for like 5 sec then same thing happens.... I know sounds like fuses, but why does it work then shuts off?

I have a 2002 GTI 337 that I just bought. Got it cheap with minor issues. One of the issues is that the radio and the Dash clock/Odometer will not shut off when the car is off. I took it to VW and they told me that the Driver, Passenger, and Hood latch need replaced (vehicle isn't going into sleep mode). Its not that I do not believe them...
