After euro switch is installed on mk4 gli, the parking lights still remain on with the front fogs.The switch would be in the middle position. So the DRL's are off and just the parking lights are on until the switch is pulled out into position 1. Then the fogs come on and pulling out into position 2, turns the rear fogs on.
View 3 RepliesSo I just picked up an R32 and it has a euro switch and euro projector headlights but I've noticed that my parking lights, city lights, and front fogs are all inoperative. Though the turn signals do work. I tried doing a quick search but wasn't really able to come up with anything as to a reason why.

And now my city lights will not turn on at all! It is a fuse that is causing this problem?
So I was on my way to work and i noticed my check engine came on. i get out of work and its still there. i go to the movies to watch friday the 13th (ok movie, worth watching in my opinion)...still on. i drive to my friends crib after to chill...still on.
View 2 RepliesI have found a new issue with my trunk. When I hit the release button the latch unlocks but when I set my alarm and then attempt to open the trunk it is still unlocked even after the alarm has been set!! The worst part is the alarm doesn't ever go off after I open it..
View 1 RepliesI purchased a used set of JDM HID/LED fogs awhile ago and had them installed by a buddy of mine who owns a shop. The HID portion was plug and play, but I cannot figure out how to get the LED portion to light up outside of tapping into the parking lights. It came with a DRL switch with a number of harnesses attached and a ground wire. I dropped the panel under the steering wheel and cannot see anywhere to plug it in. I reached out to the few people who have installed these, and contacted a number of sellers, but have not had much luck.
Do the LED portion has a harness to plug into on a US Spec car?

I have just purchased a VW GTI 337 with 194k on the odometer. The car has a few issues, I have listed the issues by importance. The car came with a stage III ARP turbo kit installed. I just don't know if it's the stage III or stage III+. The car seems to be running okay but it seems like it's lacking the power. Meaning that I should be feeling more. Could it be that car seems to be in some sort of limp mode?
1. The car surges when I am at the low and mid pedal. But, not when I am wide open throttle. Seems like to me that the car is hesitating until I give it a lot of gas. I have changed spark plugs and coils have been replaced by VW dealer for free.
2. ABS light is on and stays on, does not blink just stays on.
3. ASR button will not work. When pressed in it will not light up or show that its activated.
4. Left brake pad or sensor is not plugged in because it's missing the connection. Looks like someone cut it off for some sort of reason.
5. A light that has a triangle with a circle surrounding it, is on. The light is in the cluster.
6. The front brake pads light is on, this is also in the cluster.
All of a sudden the front left lights and both fog lights stopped working. It must be a fuse or a loose connection.
View 6 RepliesI get a "bonging" noise when I'm doing parking lot maneuvers. I did a search and came up with strut mount bearings. Do I just need the bearings or should I get bushings also. I saw them at MJM. Also is there a DIY on how to replace these? Do I have to remove the struts?
View 8 RepliesSo my parking brake doesn't engage when the lever is pulled. The light lights up on the dash saying the parking brake is engaged but the brake I not engaged. It hasn't been a huge problem for me since my Jetta is a 6-speed but I would like to fix it some time soon. Looking for a DIY? I did a quick search and didn't find anything really.

I recently upgraded to a "Euro" light switch to get more flexibility with my lights. Put tape on the TFL pin to disable DRLs in OFF Mode. Put tape on the 56d pin to disable DRLs in CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode. Completely successful -- no DRLs, just as taping the TFL pin on the original light switch accomplished long ago.
BEFORE I did any taping this time, I installed the Euro switch AS IS and tested all of its modes and physical positions:
(1) OFF: No fog light position available (switch knob will not pull out). As expected and okay.
(2) FULL ON Fog lights come on (but who the hell can see them?!?) when switch knob is pulled out one stop into the fog light position -- and the little front fog symbol on the switch lights up. Again, expected and just fine.
(3) CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights): The fog lights position is physically available by pulling the switch knob out one stop... BUT THE PARKING LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON (regardless of ignition switch position, emergency hand brake position, etc., etc.) And the little fog light symbol on the switch does not light up. (Not surprisingly, pulling the knob further out to the REAR fog light position does nothing either.)
THIS IS NOT GOOD - since with a Euroswitch one ought to be able to manually select and de-select the fog lights while in CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode!
How to make my FRONT FOG LIGHTS available in Euroswitch CITY LIGHTS (Parking Lights) mode...?
I'll be driving the 20th, and all of a sudden everything just cuts out and the car turns itself off (Only happens when I come to a complete stop). Afterwards, all dash lights come on until I turn the key back and forth and restart the car. After that, she drives perfectly and usually doesnt do that again but......She will either
1)Blip the radio off then immediately it will come back on
2)Today I turned on my DRLs and the illumination in the dash bliped out for about 3 seconds then came back on
3) When I shut the car off, every now and then she resets herself to where my clock resets back to noon and the odometer (trip mileage, not total) resets back to zero.
What ground to check, etc.
I am getting really irritated with my ac control lights not working. my friend with a gti has the same issue. but we have both changed out the whole piece from a working car and still no lights. i checked my fuses and nothing blown missing 2 fuses (pic card shows KEYS) my lights have been out for over 2 years. some days I don't care but now its really on my last nerve. The last time i remembered they didn't work then one day they did another day.

I did a search...saw something about a brake light recall? However didn't find an answer to this combination of things. The only mod under the hood I have is a p-flo intake. What might be up?

View 7 RepliesI want to put lower grill fogs in my GLI, but was concerned about them interfering with the intercooler system. I currently have an upgraded SMIC, but was concerned the lower grill fogs would impede a significant airflow to the SMIC.
Additionally, I do plan on going to a FMIC in the near future and wasn't sure if people were able to run the fog lights while still having space for the FMIC piping.
How difficult is it to change the bulb(s) for the dome light in a 05 GLI (mine is burnt out). Also the lights behind the HVAC Controls is burnt out as well, so is that difficult to get at and fix. I wouldn't think those would be on the same fuse cuz all the other interior lights work and everything, but I don't know.

View 4 RepliesWell I parked my car yesterday evening and its fine. Well this morning I go out and try to go to work and my keyless entry doesn't work. So I unlock the door manually and as soon as I open the door I hear this clicking soon almost sounds like the blinker but faster and more erratically. All cabin lights are flickering and the car has no power the battery is dead. What could cause this? Is something shorting out, Could my aftermarket radio stayed on and drained the battery? Maybe it was clicking because the cabin lights were trying to come on but didn't have enough juice. Well I am charging it now and I am gonna see what happens.
