When spooling my turbo, or even when im in idle, it almost sounds like there is a leaf inside it. the noise was barley noticeable before, but now its quite loud. What this could be.
View 7 RepliesHave a 05 GLI tiptronic. Every time while making a left turn there is a LOUD vibrating/rattling sound coming from underneath my shifter. Dealership told me it was my exhaust rattling since it was larger than OEM. That doesn't sound right at all.....
View 1 RepliesI have a 2006 GLI 6speed manual, and am having a weird noise when doing certain things. The best way to describe the noise is perhaps clunking? kinda like if you put a ball in a metal container and then tilt it, and the noise that the ball makes when it hits the side of the container is what i hear. It sounds like its coming from the underside of the car and doesn't really happen unless I accelerate quickly, turn at a little bit of a faster rate, or slow down alot.
At first i thought it was infact a ball or something rolling around but I haven't been able to find anything of that nature in my car. It sounds like it could be coming from the passenger side near the glove box or under the center console. After getting info about a clunking noise and how it can be fixed by tightening a few bolts on the underside of the car. As i am unsure if they are experiencing the same clunking noise I think i hear, i decided to ask this on a new forum. I think its either loose bolts, or perhaps something with the shocks or struts.
My 20th just recently started making clunking noises around the front left wheel area. It sounds like when I let off the gas it sounds like something is shifting forward... I don't think it is the engine mounts I'm wondering if its something with the suspension. The suspension is the stock 20th suspension.
View 4 RepliesSo I've had my 2015 IS250 for only 7-8 months, and it happened to rain in CA. My windshield wipers were put to use, but the wipers make loud noises. The rubber does not seem to wipe the glass smoothly or quietly as it skips or drags when the wipers go up. Will the dealership fix this at no cost?

View 2 RepliesI have a 05 gli w/ 65k miles. I got new plugs gaped correctly and new coils. When I'm idling at 7-800rpm my steering wheel shakes a little and when I flip on the ac it's even more noticeable. So much the rear view mirror shakes just a tad. What do yall think it could be cause it's not that bad but I'm anal about my cars and I want it to be perfect.
View 11 RepliesI have an 03 20th ani gti golf... It has been stuttering when idling and driving... Almost sounds like a subaru... I have changed the plugs/coilpacks but still does the same thing... My check engine light comes on and blinks.. Got the codes ran and it came up... Cylinder 2 misfire and catalytic convertor threshold....
View 7 Repliesok i don't know if it is a problem or if it is alright but my 18t GLI makes a weird sound in third when I let off the gas. kind of like a whine/grind. I asked the guy i bought it from and he said it has been this way since he bought it too. It sounds like it might involve the turbo but thats just a guess. it only does it in third gear.
View 6 RepliesI heard that smlw flywheel on the 6 speed trannys make a lot of chatter noise, I was cool with that so I put one in with a satch clutch kit and now it sounds like a marble or something is banging around inside!!!
View 3 RepliesI have an 04 Gli with 85000 miles on it. I just had the clutch done with a conversion from a dual mass to a single. When the car is idling there is some chatter coming from the tranny but it stops once i press the clutch.
View 3 RepliesI just drove the GLI from pa to myrtle beach for vacation. On the way back I noticed the temp was steadily rising while idling at a red light then at a gas station. Coolant level is fine. Thermostat, water pump, thermostat, and both temp sensors were recently replaced in the last two months.
So I know none of those things are a variable. Both fans never come on. I tried turning on the ac to get them to come on. But nothing. I read as much as I could on forums to find a solution but none applied to my specific problem.
Car is completely stock besides p flow intake. Has 153000 miles I'm pretty sure everything involving fan is original.
My gli makes a weird noise when I start it after its hasn't been started in awhile like in the mornings. It's like a deeper noise but I goes away after its been running for a minute. Why it would do this?

View 3 RepliesLast night on my drive home, I was listening to my iphone 5 with the apple lighting cord. I have an aftermarket kenwood kdc-x697 head unit. I also have all the correct wiring harness, and antenna harness. So last night my head unit started skippy through the song being played on my iphone. I didn't know what the deal was so I removed the face plate. Put the face plate back on and my head unit did not turn on. Once I got home, I pulled the single din head unit out and the unit started back up. Now my passenger front door speaker has a crackling/whine noise.
Last night and all this morning I have searched and have found a lot of monsoon issues with wiring. However the majority of finds all ended up with someone going to the dealer and never doing this issue themselves. How to fix this or where to start. I'm going to pull the radio now. I do know that most of the time a whine in the speakers is from alternator whine which is true but like I said it only happens to this speaker.
When i make a left turn i can hear a rubbing sound thats like a low groan. Searched it but couldn't really find one that was described this way. It's a 20th GTI.
View 22 RepliesSo I noticed a few months ago that a clanking noise came from the front of my GLI when I hit bumps. This noise went away if I had my foot on the brake, so enough vortex searches came up with loose caliper carrier pins.
I ordered the brake stiffening kit last month, but have yet to install it. Now just the other day, I heard this crazy noise come from my brakes entering my garage. It was like a loud 'click" when I engaged the brakes hard enough and I could repeat it many times. I know, I am silly for not getting the kit installed sooner, but I want to make sure that this 'click' is likely related to the carrier pins before I go taking the brakes apart in my garage.
I only ask because my car has 95k on it and is possibly on original suspension, so bushings and mounts might be starting to go.
So whenever I put my car in reverse and back up my car makes incredibly loud and messed up noises. What's going on and if this is a major or minor issue? At first it wasn't as loud now it's head turning people at the mall literally stop and stare at me its embarrassing...
