When I turn my car on in the morning there is a really loud screeching noise coming from the car....It might be one of the belts. It does it for about 10-15 seconds and then it goes away and It doesn't come back until I let the car sit for a while and turn it on again... What it is?

View 7 RepliesI have an 04.5 jetta gli ... Mods are unitronice stage 2, eurojet tb exhaust, cold air intake, diverter valve, nothing else really.
So, whenever I'm driving alone my car is fine. But once I have a really heavy person in my car, or maybe 2 people in it, as soon as I start the car I hear a vibration. It sounds as though it could be my exhaust? Because before I had it installed months ago it would never do this.
Also, as I accelerate I feel and hear that it is bogging like my car is struggling to go fast and i do see some signs of loss of power. So is it the exhaust?
Car was great this weekend, then on saturday, every time I shift my car clunks right near the tranny when I release the clutch. Its a loud noise. Clutch was done around 2500 miles ago. South Bend stg 1 with a LWFW (I know, wish I stayed with a DM). And if I drive in first and second and come off the gas without shifting, it also knocks once really loud. It isn't a back fire or anything it almost feels like the dogbone mount is bad? Also, over 4000 rpm my car sounds deeper sounding than before.
View 7 RepliesI got a 04 jetta gli that is making a loud blow off noise at around 15 psi. Up until then the the boost holds fine but then at around 15 psi it just starts whistling really loud and loses all boost. I recently replaced the DV and venthose by the camshaft, and made sure that it is tight. I also installed a 42DD 3" exhaust recently. The car has about 96k on it with stock vacuum hoses except for the aforementioned adjustments. I'm pretty sure it's not the hose and DV I replaced because I made sure that they were tight to see if that was the problem, and it did not fix it.
View 2 Repliessometimes when i switch from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd i get a loud popping noise like my exhaust is hitting the under side of the center column. I have had the car on a lift and shook the hell out of the exhaust...it's not moving enough to cause that loud popping...so i figured it could possibly be the dogbone mount gone and the downpipe is hitting when i shift because the mount is bad?
Or could it be one of the other mounts...I'm going through a divorce right now and really really broke so i need to make sure i get the right one and fix it right the first time. What mount it is if not positive its the dogbone?
When i turn my car in the morning it whistles very loudly then after it warms up for about a min or so the noise goes away..
View 5 RepliesMy car has been making a loud droning noise that sounds like I am driving a jeep with some mud tires on it, when I turn to the left it gets smoother and when I turn to the right it gets louder.
I assume it is the wheel bearings. Unfortunately I now live in an apartment with no garage and no tools so it is a pain to check. My question is, what do I need if it is in fact the rear wheel bearings? The whole assembly is easiest I assume?
I have a mkiv gli. With 41k miles on it. And when I turn my wheels either way it makes a loud strenuous noise that seems like my power steering cause its only noisy when I turn.

When I activate my signal and it switches off, i still hear the ticking but no lights are flashing. it'll go on for about a few sec then shut off, sometimes comes on even when i didn't activate my blinkers. Also when i start my car i feel a vibration from under my feet. Sounds like a knocking noise when i accelerate/turn. But then goes away after about 20 seconds of driving.
View 13 RepliesI've been hearing a "clunk" like noise here & there when I turn the wheel on my GLI all the way to one side then turning it back. I've heard it when making u-turns and when reversing. It seems to be coming from somewhere on the bottom of the drivers side and it doesn't happen all the time. I've brought it to the shop twice but they can't seem to figure out what the problem is & the car won't make the noise whenever they seem to test drive it. What this might be?
View 13 RepliesI have a mk4 gli and I'm having a problem with serpentine belt squealing when I'm at idle and when I turn the ac on. It's isn't all that loud at idle but when I turn on my ac it gets real loud. My ac stopped working a little but after this noise started to happen. Could it be possible that it's the bearing in the compressor that is making it squeal or could it be somthing else?
View 2 RepliesI've just started noticing a "clicking/ grinding/ creaking" when I turn my wheel. It makes the noise if I'm parked, or driving slowly. I can feel it in the steering wheel, and hear it in the cabin, but can't hear anything when I'm under the car.
It sounds like 'two pieces of rubber binding on each other', is the best I can describe it. I THINK its coming from the driver's side. I've considered: strut mounts shifting, CV joints, something in the steering column, Tie rods, power steering pump...
Everything is tight on the wheel when I try to move it by hand (on jacks), and no rips/ tears in any boots.
My wife's 2009 Tiguan has 72k miles and is a pretty good commuter. But it has been hot here in Texas, which may have attributed to this problem.
After about 5 minutes of idling, there is a loud screeching noise.

When spooling my turbo, or even when im in idle, it almost sounds like there is a leaf inside it. the noise was barley noticeable before, but now its quite loud. What this could be.

Was running the car at about 4500 rpms in 5th gear. All of a sudden lost power and heard a loud whooshing/ hissing of air which sounded like it was coming from under the front passenger side of the car. Lost about 50% of power in all gears. What I screwed up and broke?
I just had the Eurojet TBE installed and I notice the exhaust rattles loud at idle and startup... I want to say the piping is hitting something and causing this.... should i hang the exhaust higher.....

When AC is shut off , we hear this loud , screeching , grinding , wailing , scrunching, high pitched noise.
Not sure what to check? Should I apply a lube to the belt,pulley, etc ....
My car - a 2007 4 cylinder Hyundai Sonata - is making loud screeching sound more than occasionally but not all the time at high rates of speed (70 - 75 mph) and ESPECIALLY when I am exiting the highway to go to the train station and I turn to the left on the exit ramp. Never the right - only the left, and it stops immediately when I touch the brakes.
About 6 weeks ago, I had 4 new tires put on, and thought maybe they were not installed properly. I saw a mechanic today who put it up on the lift and said everything looks in good order and he could not find anything wrong with the driver's side front wheel, which is where it sounds like the noise is coming from. Of course, when we drove around in it, there was no noise. In fact, after I dropped him off and went to the train station it DID make the noise, so I turned around, picked him up and drove back exactly the same way - no noise.
It is a very, very loud uninterrupted screeching sound.
I have a 2002 Volvo S40. I have recently noticed a very loud screeching noise while driving. It sounds like metal on metal, and it stops when I push the brakes. Any thoughts on what this might be? It sounds like it is coming from the front right tire. I also have heard rattling up there for a while (sounds like something is loose) but my mechanic was not able to find anything with this. I also have issues with my head lights. They go out about every other month and need to be replaced.
