So whenever I put my car in reverse and back up my car makes incredibly loud and messed up noises. What's going on and if this is a major or minor issue? At first it wasn't as loud now it's head turning people at the mall literally stop and stare at me its embarrassing...

View 6 RepliesMy car, whenever i am moving in reverse, makes this noise. It is not a clicking noise, but almost sounds like the ring of a church bell. It is not the banging of the bell but the ring of one. In the searches, everything and everyone was talking about a clicking, but mine is a loud ringing noise, and I have no clue, It also sound like the noise is coming from the back of the car.

View 7 RepliesI have an 04.5 jetta gli ... Mods are unitronice stage 2, eurojet tb exhaust, cold air intake, diverter valve, nothing else really.
So, whenever I'm driving alone my car is fine. But once I have a really heavy person in my car, or maybe 2 people in it, as soon as I start the car I hear a vibration. It sounds as though it could be my exhaust? Because before I had it installed months ago it would never do this.
Also, as I accelerate I feel and hear that it is bogging like my car is struggling to go fast and i do see some signs of loss of power. So is it the exhaust?
When I turn my car on in the morning there is a really loud screeching noise coming from the car....It might be one of the belts. It does it for about 10-15 seconds and then it goes away and It doesn't come back until I let the car sit for a while and turn it on again... What it is?

View 4 RepliesCar was great this weekend, then on saturday, every time I shift my car clunks right near the tranny when I release the clutch. Its a loud noise. Clutch was done around 2500 miles ago. South Bend stg 1 with a LWFW (I know, wish I stayed with a DM). And if I drive in first and second and come off the gas without shifting, it also knocks once really loud. It isn't a back fire or anything it almost feels like the dogbone mount is bad? Also, over 4000 rpm my car sounds deeper sounding than before.
View 7 RepliesI got a 04 jetta gli that is making a loud blow off noise at around 15 psi. Up until then the the boost holds fine but then at around 15 psi it just starts whistling really loud and loses all boost. I recently replaced the DV and venthose by the camshaft, and made sure that it is tight. I also installed a 42DD 3" exhaust recently. The car has about 96k on it with stock vacuum hoses except for the aforementioned adjustments. I'm pretty sure it's not the hose and DV I replaced because I made sure that they were tight to see if that was the problem, and it did not fix it.
View 2 Repliessometimes when i switch from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd i get a loud popping noise like my exhaust is hitting the under side of the center column. I have had the car on a lift and shook the hell out of the exhaust...it's not moving enough to cause that loud popping...so i figured it could possibly be the dogbone mount gone and the downpipe is hitting when i shift because the mount is bad?
Or could it be one of the other mounts...I'm going through a divorce right now and really really broke so i need to make sure i get the right one and fix it right the first time. What mount it is if not positive its the dogbone?
When i turn my car in the morning it whistles very loudly then after it warms up for about a min or so the noise goes away..
View 5 RepliesMy car has been making a loud droning noise that sounds like I am driving a jeep with some mud tires on it, when I turn to the left it gets smoother and when I turn to the right it gets louder.
I assume it is the wheel bearings. Unfortunately I now live in an apartment with no garage and no tools so it is a pain to check. My question is, what do I need if it is in fact the rear wheel bearings? The whole assembly is easiest I assume?
I have a mkiv gli. With 41k miles on it. And when I turn my wheels either way it makes a loud strenuous noise that seems like my power steering cause its only noisy when I turn.
View 2 RepliesI get up to go to work today and the car runs fine, a few hours later i get back in, try to put it in reverse, and nothing.. it wont let me shift in after i push it down. So i push it back in neutral and drive away.. every gear works fine, when i got home i took off the boot, tried to see if anything was loose, shake it a few times and out of nowhere first and second give. They were working perfectly 5 min before, and now they just feel really loose, but every other gear works fine, so now I have no reverse, 1st or 2nd. Did I just knock something out of alignment or is the problem a lot worse.
View 3 RepliesSo I get in the car to move my car this morning and I can't get the car into 1st gear. It turns out I can't get the car into reverse, 1st gear, or even 3rd gear. It feels like something is blocking me from even approaching those gears, however the others (2,4,5,&6) seem to be fine.
View 14 RepliesI have a 20th ae Gti. When i bought the car it has installed a EIP Short Shifter and it was working fine, But... Yesterday i cant shift to reverse. So i decide to take a look since that was the first time that i have a problem with that, i thought that was something wrong with the Short Shifter so i decide to see how to install the Short Shifter so i can Re do it all by my self and now i cant Find any gear, No reverse, no 1st no 2d not even neutral.
View 2 RepliesSo i went to start up my car after about an hour of not driving , (previously working fine) and I am not able to shift into reverse 1st or 2nd , ive been looking around and i guess the options are linkage, gear selectors, gear box or tranny.... Its a 337 so its a 6 speed . don't know if that makes a difference
View 2 Repliesit all started out like this. i was unable to go into reverse took it to a shop when first and second were good. Came out of the shop after inspection and now i can shift into first or second gear but not the rest, its stuck in those two and they do not work. do i need a new trans or is it a shift fork and or linkage?
View 11 RepliesI parked the car yesterday and everything was working fine. I go out this morning to go to work and i cannot get the car to go into reverse. I put it in neutral and attempted to push it out of my parking spot, but when I took my foot off the clutch, it stalled like it was still in gear even though the stick was in the neutral position. While still in the neutral position, i can still move forward as if it were in first. When i put it in reverse and attempt to move, i get no movement. I can get it to move forward, but it refuses to go into reverse. I have no diagnostic lights illuminated and the car has no issues running or starting.
