View 5 Repliesjust noticed when i cold start my car the turbo makes a whistle noise until it warms up and when i drive hard when its spoiled it makes that whistle again......
View 3 RepliesMy gli makes a weird noise when I start it after its hasn't been started in awhile like in the mornings. It's like a deeper noise but I goes away after its been running for a minute. Why it would do this?
View 1 RepliesI have no check engine light on my 20th. it spikes at 20psi and holds at 15 16 ish.. What's the little whistle when I boost over 12..??? It sometimes goes into limp mode but turning it on and off fixes that..
View 6 RepliesSo whenever I put my car in reverse and back up my car makes incredibly loud and messed up noises. What's going on and if this is a major or minor issue? At first it wasn't as loud now it's head turning people at the mall literally stop and stare at me its embarrassing...
View 7 RepliesI have an 04.5 jetta gli ... Mods are unitronice stage 2, eurojet tb exhaust, cold air intake, diverter valve, nothing else really.
So, whenever I'm driving alone my car is fine. But once I have a really heavy person in my car, or maybe 2 people in it, as soon as I start the car I hear a vibration. It sounds as though it could be my exhaust? Because before I had it installed months ago it would never do this.
Also, as I accelerate I feel and hear that it is bogging like my car is struggling to go fast and i do see some signs of loss of power. So is it the exhaust?
When I turn my car on in the morning there is a really loud screeching noise coming from the car....It might be one of the belts. It does it for about 10-15 seconds and then it goes away and It doesn't come back until I let the car sit for a while and turn it on again... What it is?
View 3 RepliesCar was great this weekend, then on saturday, every time I shift my car clunks right near the tranny when I release the clutch. Its a loud noise. Clutch was done around 2500 miles ago. South Bend stg 1 with a LWFW (I know, wish I stayed with a DM). And if I drive in first and second and come off the gas without shifting, it also knocks once really loud. It isn't a back fire or anything it almost feels like the dogbone mount is bad? Also, over 4000 rpm my car sounds deeper sounding than before.
View 7 RepliesI got a 04 jetta gli that is making a loud blow off noise at around 15 psi. Up until then the the boost holds fine but then at around 15 psi it just starts whistling really loud and loses all boost. I recently replaced the DV and venthose by the camshaft, and made sure that it is tight. I also installed a 42DD 3" exhaust recently. The car has about 96k on it with stock vacuum hoses except for the aforementioned adjustments. I'm pretty sure it's not the hose and DV I replaced because I made sure that they were tight to see if that was the problem, and it did not fix it.
View 2 Repliessometimes when i switch from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd i get a loud popping noise like my exhaust is hitting the under side of the center column. I have had the car on a lift and shook the hell out of the exhaust...it's not moving enough to cause that loud popping...so i figured it could possibly be the dogbone mount gone and the downpipe is hitting when i shift because the mount is bad?
Or could it be one of the other mounts...I'm going through a divorce right now and really really broke so i need to make sure i get the right one and fix it right the first time. What mount it is if not positive its the dogbone?
My car has been making a loud droning noise that sounds like I am driving a jeep with some mud tires on it, when I turn to the left it gets smoother and when I turn to the right it gets louder.
I assume it is the wheel bearings. Unfortunately I now live in an apartment with no garage and no tools so it is a pain to check. My question is, what do I need if it is in fact the rear wheel bearings? The whole assembly is easiest I assume?
I have a mkiv gli. With 41k miles on it. And when I turn my wheels either way it makes a loud strenuous noise that seems like my power steering cause its only noisy when I turn.
View 2 Replies2007 ES350. Recently, I noticed when I turn on my engine in the mornings it makes a whistle/squeak-like noise. It the sound continues and eventually fades away as I drive after a mile or two.
View 6 RepliesMy wife loves her Mercedes 1999 320CLK. Low mileage (120,000), excellent interior and body condition. One problem. When she turns on the heater there is a very high pitched whistle that gets loud and then slowly tapers off. This repeats from time to time. Randomly there is a sound like a flap/door slamming shut. All sound comes from behind the dash. Also, from the dash behind the steering wheel area you hear a sound kind of like someone squeezing a plastic water bottle - plastic crackling sound. Our mechanic took a look at this and told us that some sort of hose was loose. It was reconnected and things got better for a little while....now its back. Once in a while this happens with the AC.
View 5 RepliesFinally decided to rain in CA today and noticed after I got to work that my EPC light had turned on. Car doesn't wanna boost and has very minimal/close to none power.
View 4 RepliesOK, maybe I'm just spooking myself, but I've been getting poorer gas mileage than usual as of late, like 4 to 5 mpg less. I used to get 30+ when I took my car to work, but lately I've been getting 25 to 26 mpg. I calculated it out and it seemed less still, though I didn't do a very accurate calculation.
The other day, I felt like my ESP was kicking in early because my tires are getting a bit old and bald, so I turned it off for my drive home. I immediately noticed that I felt like more power was available (though that was probably my mind playing tricks) and my average MPG for the trip shot up to the 28.5 mpg range with some spirited driving.
Where the ESP or ASR has caused lower MPG? I replaced my MAF sensor recently because it had gone bad, or at least I was fairly certain it had, but now I'm not sure. I also have coil-packs due in the next few thousand miles or so as well, but this seems sporadic. I diagnosed the MAF (which the car was getting around 22MPG before the change) by disconnecting it. It shot up to the 30MPG range with it disconnected, but thinking back, my CEL as well as the ESP light came on. I'm wondering if my ECU turned off the ESP with the MAF disconnected and that is what increased my mileage, not the bad MAF...
My 2005 VW GLI has a fuel smell when I turn on the car ... I think it might be running rich or something I don't know.. All I know is I think the fuel and air mixture is not right ... What should I do? what should I check? will a re-tune do anything?
View 2 RepliesAirbag indicator light is on. Why that could be?
View 6 RepliesWhen I turn my wheel, i hear this sound like im rubbing my lip but not as loud.... Is this something I should be worried about... or am I just rubbing my fender lining?
View 4 RepliesFor a week now, my car whistle pretty loudly (I can hear it windows closed) when accelerating. After reading about 2.0t problems, I thought it was either a bad DV or PCV. I tried to diagnose if my problem was related to a bad pcv. So I disconnect the tube going from the intake to the pcv and plug the hole on the intake. Then I went for a ride and it whistle like before...so does this test confirm that my pcv isn't my problem?
As of now, I never saw traces of oil around the oil filler cap. When the engine is running, as soon as I press on the accelerator(even lightly), the whistle begin. As soon as I remove my foot, it whistle for a second then it stop. At a stop, if I press on the accelerator, the whistle will begin at only 5500 rpm and up.
No CEL so far related to lost of boost(I had a cel last week and they change fuel sensors and regulator). Also, the car pull pretty constantly but seem less powerful than before.
Today I got my car inspected (05 gli) and after the inspection, when I was driving home and went to a gas station. When I turned my car off and got out the radio (monsoon) stayed on. Then later when I opened my door the dome light did not come on. Passenger door turns light on and shuts radio off. I believe it is a door sensor? Where is this located and how do I change it or any other possibilities of what it could be? I did some research, and I have no issues locking the doors (security light blinks) and the passenger door works fine. Hoping there is a way to fix this without buying a whole new lock mechanism.
