Leaks in passenger side floor during a big day of rain? my floor mat was SOAKED, and i think i its coming from some area going up on the right side of the glove compartment, doesn't look like its the door, but perhaps the corner outside where the windshield meets the hood? I also believe I may have leaky seals on my left rear window.

So I get in after I get home and notice a god damn flood on my driver side front floor I made sure the drains in the rain tray were clear the other night when I first got the car. Is this more than likely coming from the sunroof drain? I ran some water down the sunroof drain while it was open and it seemed to come out. The water looked to be coming from where the hood release is as there were a few drips right below it.

I happened to look behind the passenger side seat and there was 3in. of water on the floor so i looked up at the sunroof and there wasn't any stains or anything from water as well as the doors windows everything... It's the strangest thing I've seen the only thing wet is on the floor...
View 4 RepliesIt happened twice since June when we (central NJ) have had really heavy rains. My front passenger side carpet becomes absolutely soaked, but everything else stays completely dry. Do you think the rubber trim has failed? A regular wash is fine, nothing gets in from that. My car is a 2006 B6 with about 97k on it. It's weird.

Its just at idle, i mean i can give it a little rev, and it doesn't seem to get worse so that eliminates bottom end or head... so???? Ive read some post on here that say... its nothing... just ignore it... but idk.
Like I said its just at idle and it sounds like its coming from the pass floorboard.... I left it running and popped the hood and couldn't hear it.
I have a 2000 ford focus. I noticed today that my passenger side floor was soaking wet with brown liquid. The liquid is watery in consistency, not slimy at all, and it has no smell. I also noticed the other day that my side windows were fogging up with the use of the defroster. I'm looking for some hope that this does not automatically mean replacing my heating core. Could it possibly be anything else? One more thing, when I notched this water today I was a 3 hour drive from home and was able to drive it home without it overheating.
View 10 RepliesJust sopped up about a quart of water on the pass side floor. the wiring harness channel (along the door on the floor) was full as was the corner where the fuse box is along with the whole jutting up to the seat!
Was thinking I has a windshield leak, tested out fine. I have alot of AC water draining under the truck, thought that ws O.K. too. Then did an experiment after dryin the floor and juting.
peeled it all back and ran the AC for 20 minutes till I had a good puddle on the ground, and sure enough the "joint" lowest and closest to the tranny tunnel was dripping. Thinking the box is full of water now. Where is the actual drain hole for the AC? can't find it under the "heat shield" crap under the truck.
When it rains or snows, the floor only of my 86 Civic Si hatchback ends up soaked, sometimes standing water. There is no visible leak anywhere, no water leaking in anywhere obvious. It's just the floor, the water seems to come up from beneath the carpet. Replaced windshield, didn't work. The car is otherwise in great shape, I bought in new in 1986.
View 5 RepliesWhy is the rug on the passenger side of my v10 egg wet. It would appear that it happens after heavy rain....blocked plug somewhere. Have also been using air conditioning alot.... Also could getting egg stuck deep in mud in the spring have anything to do with this...blocked plug?
View 2 RepliesWhenever it rains a substantial amount, like all day I go out to my 92 Ranger and get in and notice the passenger side rubber floor mat has a puddle of water on it. I look under the floor mat and only the center of the carpet there is wet. I see it's getting the edge of that side of the headliner wet and ruining the new headliner had redone. I didn't realize there was water leaking until I got my headliner redone and put back in. It very well could have been leaking causing the headliner cloth to all tear. It's wet along the top passenger side where the grab handle is and the plastic trim. I thought it was the rain gutter on top of the roof so I put in some black silicone and some of it stopped but not all.
So I thought it was still leaking at the front corner so I put more silicone in. Don't know yet if that was what it was for sure but I'll find out tomorrow because it's raining pretty good right now. But just in case where else could it be getting this much water in. If you go through a carwash, or hose it down for awhile, or even drive while it's raining bad it won't get water inside. I'm not convinced it's the rain channel 100% because on the driver's side the putty filling the rain channel on the roof looks worse than the passenger side and there's no water coming in on the driver's side. There is no water coming in the back or on the back carpet or headliner.
I don't see any evidence around the windshield. I can't understand why only the middle of the passenger side carpet is soaked and not the top or under the seat, unless it's just soaking through the rubber floor mat and not drying out. It's getting so frustrating because I can't visibly find any evidence, I have to wait until it rains and then I can't see why it happens. It's ruining my carpet and my new headliner. I want to replace the carpet but want the leak stopped first. Where are common trouble areas on these 92 Rangers for water leakage?

View 1 RepliesAfter researching this for weeks, I think I've found that the pollen filter seal is worn and that's why I'm having water leaking onto my front passenger side floor. My car alarm has been going off randomly too. Every time it rains the floor is soaked. It's not the sunroof drain plugs. I already tried that. I need to fix this ASAP!!! How do I fix a worn pollen filter seal? I have a caulk gun ready!
View 11 RepliesAfter several days of rain I found that the drivers side carpet is soaked. Upon further investigation I realized it was coming from underneath the car rather than from the side. I was able to put my hand under the carpet and feel the metal body underneath. It was soaked. I have never had this problem before and have not been in an accident. The car drives very well and has 130 miles. I recently replaced the transmission and was hoping to have this for a few more years.
View 1 RepliesI left my the car sitting for a week out in heavy rain and came back to find that the driver side floor was soaked. After searching around I seem to have found the entry point. It seems like all of the water is pouring in from my hood release lever area which I find strange. I put a towel down last night during two hours of rain and came back to find the towel almost fully soaked through. I read other threads on this but the results were inconclusive. Could it be the lower or upper windshield seals? Door seals? Another problem I'm having is water leaking from my dome light buttons after a heavy rain. I assume this is a problem with the sunroof seal, but whenever I search around it feels dry?
View 8 RepliesI'm new to Volkswagen, never had one before. Just bought my buddies 2003 GTI 20th anniversary #106. My bud install glass projector headlights, which he has the projector as his DRL's and for some reason when you release the E brake, which turns the DRL's, the projector lights on, they flicker and only the driver side stays on leaving the passenger side off. If I pull the E brake back up to turn them off and back down again it flickers on but won't stay on. Sometimes it does switch sides to where the passenger side works and the driver side doesn't but its the passenger side that mostly has the problem. Now I can continue to do this and eventually after 3 or 4 pulls of the E brake i can get them both working. I'm OCD about these little things like this and i want it to work right.
View 4 RepliesSo I just recently purchased an HID kit for my GLI. After installing i went to turn them on and my passenger side is out. But when we tested both sides individually they both worked fine. I checked the bulb and tested it with a new one and the new one didnt turn on either. We tried 3 different ballasts and still nothing. I took it to my local shop where i bought them and they were stumped as well. We tested it for power and yes there is power getting to it. Along with all this, my highbeam light on my dash is on?

View 4 RepliesI recently developed a tapping/popping noise come from the passenger's side of my GLI. The noise is kind of hard to explain, it's similar to the popping sound the seats make every once in awhile when you move around in them, if that makes any sense. I can't really get a video of the sound because I don't think it's quite loud enough. It's starting to get worse, and getting aggravating. It's not coming from the seat, it's more up near the front of the car, maybe where the door hinges are? I can't really pinpoint it.

Figured I'd ask to see if there has been more of a solution as the threads seemed pretty old.
When I accelerate or rev, the car has a rattling sound coming from the passenger side. If i take the car out of gear and slow down or let it idle, the noise disappears completely.
I have no clue where it came from but now my car smells like mildew. Where and how it came in? Also how to get rid of the smell? To make things worse I have monster mats so I never knew it was there until I smelled it then lifted the mat.
