View 5 RepliesI have a jetta mkiv GLI. My key remote stopped working and it will not unlock/lock, open trunk, or panic button for a while, so ill just lock the door putting the key in the door and turning twice. Now i do the same thing to lock the doors, but now it honk like it used to, until i open and close the driver rear door?
View 14 RepliesI have a 2005 excursion with about 112,000 miles and last week all 5 doors decided to stop working on me when trying to lock or unlock with the remote or the door switch. I do hear a sound like something is happening just right of the fuse box. I did a little research and found that this is a wide spread problem. I did order 4 of the 5 actuators and I replaced the drivers door but nothing yet. Do they all have to be replaced in order to work? Or is it most likely something else causing this? Just trying to figure it out before I install the other actuators or take it in to a shop.
View 1 RepliesThis morning I go to work with no problems. Then at lunch I go to my car and get some things with no problem. Then of course it starts pouring down rain just before its time for me to leave to go home and the car is dead. Not just a little dead but completely. It doesnt even have enough power to unlock the doors or display anything on the dash. I checked the normal things in the pouring rain hoping to find a quick fix but it was like a small hurricane. The only thing I found was a small amount of corrosion on the positive terminal. The battery is less than six months old and yes I did check to make sure the lights were off. If it ever stops raining I'm going to go see if it will jump. I've had way to many problems with this car but I've never seen it dead like if the battery was completely disconnected.
View 1 RepliesWhy wouldn't the touch sensitive lock/unlock on the driver and passenger doors not work? I verified that all doors are latched and windows are closed but when I touch the handle to lock the GX I get a long beep.
View 4 RepliesMy Key Fob buttons stopped working, I can't remote lock/unlock the doors or truck anymore with the key. It will still open the doors and start the car however. My thought is the battery is dead. 2 Questions.
First, how do I change the battery?
Second, does the key have to be reprogrammed? If so, can I do it, or is that a dealer thing?
Yesterday I unlocked my car, drove to work and when I got out, the locking button flashes red on my FOB but it wont lock the doors. The unlock, hatch open and panic all work.
I tried to use my spare fobs, and same deal, all but the unlock works. The power locks work if i press the button inside the car. if i lock the car door manually using the key, it will work, but the dome lights when set to open door lit will not turn off when i lock it.
This is really weird, how I can fix/reset this so I can have the locking function back? Should I disconnect the battery and discharge the system?
Some background: New remotes programmed worked a month then stopped working, toyota dealer got it working for a month but only worked within 3 feet of door. Now not working at all. Could it be receiver for remote in the car? Where is it? How to fix?
View 2 RepliesFor some reason BOTH my sidemarkers stopped working. Would it be a fuse? if so, which fuse would it be? fuse map in fuse box doesn't show sidemarkers.
View 7 RepliesMy main fan stopped working yesterday, I can't figure out if I need just a new fan or the entire motor assembly. How to diagnose the exact problem....
View 2 RepliesAfter going through a car wash my Prius has started locking all doors when I start the car and unlocking driver's and passenger front doors when I turn it off. Kind of wondering how this could happen, but since I like it that way I don't really want to change it back. Is there a way to toggle this and can I change it so that rear doors and hatchback unlock also when I turn the car off?
View 7 RepliesMy buddys mk4 GLi headlights and signals just stopped working if he holds the stalk in position the brights will come on but that's it. The car is a 2005 GLi with a euro switch, Were going to replace the switch in a little bit, as of now all fuses seem fine.
View 10 RepliesSo was driving my VW.. AC Was working fine. Then all of sudden nothing but hot air goes through the vents. So.. my question is. What could have caused this? I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to cars and their parts..
View 5 RepliesMy Chevy Venture 1998 power lock doors will unlock but won't lock. Checked fuse and is ok.
View 13 RepliesSo all but the driver door window switch stopped working including the lock and unlock buttons. The windows still go up and down but from the other door switches.
My best guess is the master switch is gone bad. And at over 65k I'm sure it's no longer under warranty. I called the local dealer today and quoted me over $500 and would not give me the part number.
After parking the car for 15mins and turned the car back on, decided to try again. Everything works now I haven't taken anything apart yet but now I'm curious what caused it to temporarily fail.
After 30 mins of the car being on I decided to roll the windows up but the switch was dead again.
So yesterday I took out the monsoon head unit and replaced it with a kenwood kdc-348u single din, but once the wiring harness is plugged into the stereo all my power windows and everything stops working. What could be the problem, wrong wiring harness?
View 2 Replies2005 Jetta Gli 1.8t. It decided to do some funky things on me today. I has been running perfectly fine up until I went out for dinner.
When I came back to start her up. Everything worked except for: Radio, Low Beams (both) Fogs, windshield wipers/fluid, rear defrost button, turn signals (but hazards worked fine) and the fan for my heater.
What was working, oddly enough are the amber lights, tails and brake lights, all other lights including the high beam, but ONLY in the position when the stalk is pulled toward the driver. (Have to hold it to keep the high beams on).
It's not the battery because my car wouldn't have started at all if that was the case. It's not the alternator because I disconnected my battery and the car ran just fine and never died. I checked all the fuses of the things that went out but nothing seemed out of the ordinary and all of them seemed just fine.
Where to look next or what to do. I have no check engine lights, or any lights for that matter so I have nothing to scan.
My camry has been giving me this issue for last couple of weeks. The door will lock correctly using the key fob and by pressing the buttons on door of drivers + passenger. But while trying to unlock only the driver lock unlocks.
The car does not has any starting problems and I even tried a secondary battery to see if its a battery issue. The issue remains the same even the car is started or moving i.e. doors will only lock and will not unlock.
Someone said the Relays might have a problem and I was able to locate the two relays in the fuse box but I am not sure which one to pull out.
My FOB doesn't work locking/unlocking my '06 prius. I use the embedded key to lock. When I want to lock it, I lock it from the inside.
a. I know the door lock actuator motors are not bad because I was able to lock it from the inside using the lock/unlock switch on the driver side door panel.
b. I checked the voltage on the AUX battery. It read 12.4v. So that is not the problem.
c. Key fob battery strength is good (I see the red LED every time I use the remote).
d. I don't have a SKS system so no switch exists to enable or disable the SKS under the steering.
While on a recent vacation, my sister-in-law, trying to do a good thing, washed my clothes but neglected to remove my FOB for my 2008 Prius. I returned home only to find that the FOB would not lock/unlock the doors.
I replaced the battery (the old one was reading only .03vDC) but still no remote lock/unlock.
How can you tell if the FOB is working since there is no "little red light" like I have seen mentioned by other owners
It looks as if the FOB should be watertight, is it? Any way to clean inside the FOB in case there is some corrosion? What should be my next step?
My daughter picked up an 08 Base, option package #1 yesterday. It has 166K miles and checked out okay by me (coolant moving by inverter pump, no signs of water in spare tire well...etc.). The car only had 1 key fob (non-SKS) wit no spare key or fob. The key is uncut but the remote starts and runs the car. The remote will not lock or unlock the doors.
The first thing I did was replace the CR2032 battery with no change. It still operated the car but not the locks. I noticed that the little red light wasn't coming on when pushing the buttons and found the red panic button was stuck. Took care of that and thought all was good until I tried to lock and unlock the doors again. Nope! Light comes on, works in slot to start the car, but not the locks.
