GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: Hood Release Cable Broke

went out after checking out the cheap mod thread (to see what I can mess with), went to pop the hood and nothing happened. I've looked all over vortex and I cant find anything.

How to manage to open the hood when it wont "pop" from inside the cabin. There is not enough tension on the cable and seems as though either the cable has been stretched or either came off or broke its retainer under the hood... I noticed "TSB"s but to be honest I dont know what these really are or how they matter...

So in order to get my hood to open, I have to pull the hood release lever in the cab, go pull up on the hood itself, then pull the release lever again, and pull on the hood to get it to finally pop. Is this a cable perhaps going bad? Or another issue I need to fix?

I went to check the oil this morning , and pulled the hood release inside the truck and I think the cable broke. I can't get the hood open at all, and now I'm afraid to drive the truck, fearing the hood might fly up as I go down the mountain pass I live on. How do I repair this and get the hood open?
I tried pulling cable and pushing on hood wont work.

My battery went flat and to compound my misery, when I went to open the hood, the cable was snapped. How I can open the hood without using the release cable ? I'd rather not have to pay for it to be taken to the mechanic and then also pay to have the battery changed !

I was checking my oil level and saw that it was broken. I have to drive about an hour each way home tomorrow. Is this a bad thing to do, or do you think I'll be ok? I have no time to fix right now and only mode of transportation.

my water pump broke they other day and then i was lifting up my seat and notcie it was wet. the whole left side of my car under the carpet is wet. why do you think there is water is only on th eleft side. could it be becuase the water pump broke??

I busted a spring and apparently a strut. The mechanic said I'd need to replace the front suspension, and offered to do it for 1000$ which I thought was very high. Now I am debating whether to simply get a cup kit or coil overs. I am leaning towards the cup kit to save money. Now I am curious what you guys think regarding the H&R cup kit and where I could get the best deal on them.

so i have an automatic GLI its my first automatic VW i put a forge DV and carbino CAI on it yesterday, and compared to my Manual cars the air release sounds a whole lot different. it more or less sounds like a horse blowing its lips around. is that normal sound for auto vechiles.

Car was great this weekend, then on saturday, every time I shift my car clunks right near the tranny when I release the clutch. Its a loud noise. Clutch was done around 2500 miles ago. South Bend stg 1 with a LWFW (I know, wish I stayed with a DM). And if I drive in first and second and come off the gas without shifting, it also knocks once really loud. It isn't a back fire or anything it almost feels like the dogbone mount is bad? Also, over 4000 rpm my car sounds deeper sounding than before.

Having this problem where the button to release the hand brake rattles constantly while driving? The only thing I can think is to replace the spring in it, but Idon't know how difficult that would be. Otherwise my only other thoughts are to find something thing enough that I can slide into it and hope it doesn't ever jam it up.

So I just changed the valve cover fast but I am still getting oil onto the hood of my car. It did this before I changed the gasket as well. Is my valve cover bent maybe?

Happened on my mk6 now on the 20th! When I go to hit the switch for the gas tank release it is completely silent. Could that be the module? Half a tank left so not to worried about bringing it somewhere.

I tried searching and couldn't find any info about this... the problem is that after my FMIC install my hood won't lock unless i force it down by sitting on it... I checked with tape and everything to see if my upper FMIC pipe was hitting the hood but its not, and nothing else is hitting the hood.
The hood mechanism is working since I went over it with a screwdriver to see how it locked and everything. The only thing that comes to mind is that since the same piece that holds the hood mechanism is the one that holds my IC that is sagged down? but everything seems to be tight and not moving.

The CEL just came on in my 20th AE Gti. The code indicates a Camshaft Position Sensor issue. Don't know where this sensor lives under the hood of the GTI? Is an easy enough fix for a beginner to attempt? (have hand tools, former bike mechanic, but no shop just a parking lot in the Texas sun!)

I've just recently starting getting a really annoying vibration coming from under the hood, only occurs while engine is running >~3000rpm's. Sounds like a metal plate shaking somewhere, any clues on where to check??

The front of the hood on the right towards the headlight is rattling pretty bad, but stops whenever I place pressure on the hood on the right side. The hoods shut all the way so I'm not sure whatsup. Not a big deal just pretty annoying.
