My buddys mk4 GLi headlights and signals just stopped working if he holds the stalk in position the brights will come on but that's it. The car is a 2005 GLi with a euro switch, Were going to replace the switch in a little bit, as of now all fuses seem fine.
View 10 RepliesI started my car yesterday and noticed the headlights, A/C, defroster, turn signals were all not working. I checked the fuses and they're all fine. Checked other posts and it looks like the common denominator is the ignition switch. (Looking for pics) how to change out the ignition switch? And what is the level of difficulty?
View 1 Replies2005 Jetta Gli 1.8t. It decided to do some funky things on me today. I has been running perfectly fine up until I went out for dinner.
When I came back to start her up. Everything worked except for: Radio, Low Beams (both) Fogs, windshield wipers/fluid, rear defrost button, turn signals (but hazards worked fine) and the fan for my heater.
What was working, oddly enough are the amber lights, tails and brake lights, all other lights including the high beam, but ONLY in the position when the stalk is pulled toward the driver. (Have to hold it to keep the high beams on).
It's not the battery because my car wouldn't have started at all if that was the case. It's not the alternator because I disconnected my battery and the car ran just fine and never died. I checked all the fuses of the things that went out but nothing seemed out of the ordinary and all of them seemed just fine.
Where to look next or what to do. I have no check engine lights, or any lights for that matter so I have nothing to scan.
My headlights flicker everytime I hit the turn signals and bring my windows down, what might be causing this?
View 1 RepliesX2 nights ago at 11:45pm I was driving home from a friends house with my gf and were going about 65 on the highway and it's lightly raining, then all of a sudden my headlights, windsheld wipers, turnsignals, my ac/fans all just shut off so I had to pull over right away. After sitting there for about 15 mintues I figure out my high beams still work but only if I hold them on(clicking it on doesn't work. So I drive home and the next day check all the fuses in the drivers door and they r all fine. Everything else works in the car but the stuff stated above. My car was reposesd about a year ago when I lost my job and they put this thing I have to enter a code every month, it messed my windsheld wipers and turn signals up before but not anything else! But it still works and the other stuff doesn't, and behind the dash it sounded like crackling and smelt like burning electric right before it shut off.

My key remote stopped working and it will not unlock/lock, open trunk, or panic button for a while, so ill just lock the door putting the key in the door and turning twice. View 3 RepliesWell now I have to replace the multi function switch due to moving my steering wheel and the headlights sometimes working and turning signals not working. I saw a great video on youtube about changing a Multi Function Switch and it shows where the air bag needs to be removed. I was hoping that since my truck is an older 1997 F250 LD I wouldn't have to remove the airbag. Is there a way to do this w/out messing with the airbag on the 1997?

View 5 RepliesI have probably had problems with my headlights and brake lights for like the longest time. I swear I change out more bulbs more than anybody I know. When one head light goes out I switch it out, only for another to go out.
Recently both head lights go out back to back so I decided to wait to change them out. And im sure my high beams are out also since i used those when i drive at night which isnt to often. I still haven't changed them out, because I dont want to spend more money on bulbs only for them to go out again.
I've probably had this problem since ive had this car. I was wondering what I should do or what i could look into to try and fix the problem. I have a 2003 VW GTI 20th Anni.
Ive had it since birth so I would like to get this problem resolved. Haven't had any major problems except for a few electrical here and there. And ive kept it serviced up to date.
For some reason my headlights and fog lights dont work as well as the turn signals, however the marker lights and 4ways do. The ac and fan also dont work. This all happened at once yesterday. I checked the fuses and they are fine. They must not be getting any power.
View 7 RepliesSo I get to explore my first repair with this new to me car. Yesterday morning, turn signals works fine. That afternoon, the stalk apparently stopped working, which I have heard of. Interestingly though:
-the brights and cruise work
-the hazards work (my improvised indication that I'm turning )
-the stalk had been replaced once before by the PO.
Did this thing eat another stalk, or are there some other things I should check first?
Both the front headlights do not turn on. I checked the fuses on the side panel and they all seem fine. I removed my battery to start another car. Do not know if that is the cause for killing the front head lights. Day time running lights are not on either. Lower fog lights work.
View 8 RepliesSo tonight at 8:30 I started up my car to get ready to leave work. I turned my light switch to activate the headlights and I only saw the amber light on the wall in front of me. I was worried because I need headlights in order to get home. I tried activating the fogs and turning the switch on and off but only my parking lights were working. I turned the car on and off a few times and all of a sudden the headlights finally turned on. I drove around town afterwards to run errands and the headlights were turning on just fine. What would cause this issue and I really don't want it to get to the point where I can't drive my car at night.
