Aug 1, 2016
After installing my FK Streetline X Coilovers I noticed my rear driver side was sitting lower and and the wheel had more camber.

View 3 RepliesI have KW type ST coils for my 2004.5 gli and I cannot adjust them to the height I want, it said the rear coils were good for around a 2.5 inch drop and it dropped it a little less than an inch when they were all the way released.
View 2 RepliesMy rear camber is different from driver side and pass. the ride height is the same, looking from where the fender tucks the tire. but if you look from the rear it cambers in more. I don't know the problem.
View 23 RepliesI just put on some brand new Bilstein shocks/struts with new mounts and some Neuspeed springs. It seems like the rear sits lower than the front. Maybe some polo bushings to bring the front down a bit? No stereo stuff of anything in the trunk..
View 2 RepliesI'm new to Volkswagen, never had one before. Just bought my buddies 2003 GTI 20th anniversary #106. My bud install glass projector headlights, which he has the projector as his DRL's and for some reason when you release the E brake, which turns the DRL's, the projector lights on, they flicker and only the driver side stays on leaving the passenger side off. If I pull the E brake back up to turn them off and back down again it flickers on but won't stay on. Sometimes it does switch sides to where the passenger side works and the driver side doesn't but its the passenger side that mostly has the problem. Now I can continue to do this and eventually after 3 or 4 pulls of the E brake i can get them both working. I'm OCD about these little things like this and i want it to work right.
View 4 RepliesWhen I have my lights on only the drivers side light comes on but then when i turn the brights on both sides come on its kinda like a street bike but both fogs work....
View 5 RepliesMy driver side axle went out. Just wondering what are our choices out there for the o2m 6spd tranny. My cousin and I ordered a set from some axle store but I doubt they are giving us the right part. ECS had them for about $300, thinking about raxles too..

I noticed the driver side cooling fan stopped working (actually it sometimes goes on or off, but mostly off). I stopped using the A/C. The car has no overheating issues whatsoever. The 2nd fan (passenger side) kicks in when its appropriate
So I think its fair to assume that the fan gave out. In fact I remember using the A/C one day and a smell of burnt electronics/motor overcame me, so I popped the hood and noticed the driver side fan is a little absent .
Some simple questions:
I've been told by people that the 2 fans sometimes have different functionality, one for A/C one for Cooling blah blah. They are different sizes, the one affected is bigger. What is the reality here? Do they have specific purposes?
Should I replace both of them? Since the job is so labor intensive and the other cooling fan has in some way taken the burden of the non-working one?
Is there anything else that could prevent the driver side cooling fan from working (FCM?)?
I know this has been covered before and I did search but got no where. It's covered in the FAQ sticky but the link is no good. Where can I get an axle assembly that's not going to cost me 550 bones like on ECS?
View 14 RepliesI have a mkvi gti with all stock suspension except rear sway bar. And I'm right about to order driver gear springs. But have a question about suspension. My rear driver side of the car sits about half inch lower then then rear passenger side on a flat ground. Would this be caused by springs? Or struts? Or what. Planning on ordering the driver gear springs but what the real problem is. I want the driver gear so I'm a bit lowered but not crazy low since the roads in my home town are awful and my street I have to do figure 8's all the way down it to not hit a pot hole.
View 3 RepliesJust tore through my second driver side outer boot it's frustrating. I'm thinking about buying an axle but are the boots not going to rip on them. Thing is I don't really get why the are ripping since I'm not super low or anything I know people that are lower and haven't had any issues
I put this new OEM axle in just a couple months ago. Could my Coilover be sitting to low in the strut housing and rubbing on the boot or what. I don't know if that is the mechanical terms but I did my best but how would I go about fixing this.
When I was looking around for the axle last time and I tried to go through smaller shops but none of the axles they had matched up, so I had to go to the dealership and my wallet took a beating. This time thinking about the cv boot kit for urotuning.
The speaker in my drivers door is blown or there's a wiring issue I haven't taken off the card yet to inspect it. I have two stock speakers from a buddies car that only have 8k and two years on them. My question is should I stick with stock ones since I plan on sticking with the stock head unit, or should I upgrade? What speakers that work well with the stock system?
View 6 RepliesMy driver side tail light is dim when i brake. Passenger side is fine, changed the bulb and nothing. Thought it was a fuse and nothing. Checked it with Tesla light and i get power and all but still dim with new bulb and fuse.
View 7 RepliesThe drivers side door of my 03 Gti will not latch shut, started once in a while & a slam cured it, but no more.
View 4 RepliesSo I just got my 04.5 GLI chipped with GIAC 93 octane program two days ago. Obviously I've been driving it reasonably hard because I'm pumped on the chip. I noticed today as I sat at a light a very small bit of white smoke billowed out from the driver's side of the engine (looked like it was pretty far to the side). It stopped for a second and then a little bit more came out. I pulled over as soon as the light turned green and looked around with a flashlight to see if I could spot any more smoke, but couldn't.
The car has 120,000 KMs, catless dp, and an aftermarket exhaust. It was chipped in 2011, but went into limp mode, the owner then traded it in and I got it in limp mode. (long story short they reflashed and replaced several parts and got it back to 10psi, and I then rechipped 2 days ago). So the car hasn't seen too much chipped use I'm assuming. The boost holds strong at about 17lbs (unless it's low rpms in 5th or 6th, and it kinda bounces around until higher rpms and then holds steady).
Just replaced inner and outer boots. All seemed to go well. Just got done with some errand and noticed a light knock on the driver side when turning left. What might cause this?
View 2 RepliesWe purchased her GLI a couple of months ago, as is, knowing the issues it had and whatnot. We talked the dealer down so much that he refused a warranty.
This pesky *clunk* sound coming from the driver side front-end. Usually on bumps, it sounds like a suspension deal... We took it into a shop, they "re-torqued" the suspension, and did the alignment. It was good for about a week, then it came back. Also, there's a creaking sound when turning, my guess is CV boots? Axles?

I have a 2005 PG GLI and lately I don't know why didn't happen at first but now whenever I lock the car with my switchblade key the drivers side door does not lock i have to push the lock down forcefully, any remedy.
View 5 RepliesI have a 20th anniversary gti and the driver side door wont lock and the gas door wont unlock. The passenger door is fine. The drivers side door will not lock from the switch inside the car or the remote. I already replaced the locking module and nothing changed. I also unplugged and cleaned the 3 plugs for the drivers side wiring harness.
View 2 RepliesI just bought a 2004.5 GLI and I quickly found out that some of the seals aren't tight. We had a pretty bad rainstorm a couple weeks after I bought it, and it left my trunk and my drivers side floor mat soaked. Not good, considering I have a subwoofer sitting there, just waiting to be destroyed.
View 1 RepliesI looked over at my car and noticed the driver's rear side of the car sits lower than the other. I tried turning the car around to see if it was the driveway. It was not. I parked the car flat and took a tape measure and measured from the ground to the uppermost part of the wheel well and the rear drivers side is 2 foot 2 inches, the rear passenger side is 2 foot 4 inches. So the one side is sitting 2 inches lower than the other. Could it just be sag from the roads/ only having one person in the car, I'm not light either. Have 56k on the car.
