View 1 RepliesLiterally drove the car yesterday for three hours nothing was happening. Went to turn it on today when it idols a little constant white smoke comes out of the exhaust! Then when I'm driving and my turbo boost lets out a big cloud of smoke comes out. What could this be? Also just filled my car up with gas from empty today if that matters

View 9 RepliesI was driving yesterday going up a hill in lower gear... i think 3rd... and had the RPM's up sort of high, I heard a noise that sounded like if you stuck a stick into a fan...smoke also came out of the exhaust when pressing the gas.. smoke has come out before but I got my oil changed figured it might have just been burning off some oil.... I was thinking the catalytic converter??
View 2 RepliesSo i just spent over $1700 at a vw service ctr having a sched 140k timing belt replaced with thermo and fuel filter. This was 3 days ago and when i picked it up it was slower to turn over then got worse and todsy it won't turn over at all even when jumped. It cranks and blows black smoke. Problem is i'm 160 miles from that svc center and it's sunday. There is a vw svc center 14 miles away but i feel like it needs to ho back to where the work was done because it ran great before taking it there.
View 5 RepliesMy Elantra is at 14k miles and it has happened twice now that the pipe has released white/grayish smoke when accelerating abruptly (pretty much forcing the engine) on the highway above 60mph. I can see in my mirror that it leaves a pretty big smoke screen behind me.
I took it for an inspection after the first time it happened and the mechanic said it might have just been steam and that I should not worry about it. Since my 15k maintenance check is coming up, I will ask that they actually check on it.
I'm also curious to know if this could cause me to get a ticket? I'm thinking I could get pulled over for "imparing the vision of drivers behind me and making it dangerous for them", or something like that.
This is for a 2003 GTI, 89,00 miles. Every time I try to use the windshield cleaner the fuse blows for the windshield wipers. I have tried to put in a 25 amp fuse and it worked for a while but still blew. The windshield wiper motor has been replaced.

View 15 RepliesSo I recently (within the last month) replaced my DV for a Forge 007 and my stock air box for an EVOMS v-flow. My cel came on after the DV switch and was throwing the P0420 code at me. Then I swapped the intake and it has been good but I felt like I was running a bit rich and pulled my codes and it now has P0030 in addition to P0420. Why this is? I have 88K miles. Spoke to a mechanic and he says he thinks it is my cat dying. I'm a bit confused since I have a turbo back exhaust.
View 6 RepliesI just replaced my clutch and have put everything back together, and bled my clutch line, but I have absolutely no pressure still in my pedal. I read that u need to make sure your brake fluid reservoir is filled to the max, but following the clutch line, I dont see it going to the reservoir? I also read that the master cylinder is behind the clutch pedal, does the master cylinder hold any fluid that maybe I lost during the bleeding? I'm at a loss right now.
View 12 RepliesA few weeks ago, my battery died, got a new one, ran fine for a week. Then wanted to go to work a a few days ago, turn the key and heard nothing, took the starter out, got a new one and put it in (used-but I took it apart and it looked fine) Once I put that in was excited to have my car back, but same thing, not even a sound coming from the starter, doesn't even try. Thought it might be a fuse problem, checked everyone that might have to do with the engine...and they all looked fine.
Something with the relays perhaps? I haven't checked those yet. A ground issue? I'm so lost right now.
So yesterday I finally got around to replacing the driver side door lock module in my GLI. I bought a OEM replacement. After taking 4 hours to install it yesterday I locked the doors and armed the alarm to see if replacing the module would stop the possessed car alarm. It didn't, at 1:30 am the alarm went off waking up me and my family. I've ran out of options of what it could be setting off the alarm and it's annoying having to unhook the battery every night.

View 16 RepliesCar was started for the first time after the radiator was flushed and new coolant was put on it. The car was just jumped and charged after was brought from a copart auction. Now my brother said that everything looks smooth, no xxxmas tree in the dashboard, idle is steady, engine sounds good.
Now here comes the thing, the temps of oil and water are at a proper level. When he steps on the gas pedal a few seconds later there is some sort of smoke coming out from the back of the engine (exhaust manifold, turbo, intercooler stock pipes from the SMIC) My question is cause he's not a mechanic and he will arrive tomorrow. crack manifold, shot turbo or some leak in the hoses?
aBtw the car has 105k miles.

The exhaust smells like gas. I have done no Mods except for APR stage one and a K & N air filter. Is it misfiring? Is my software bad?

View 6 RepliesSome questions I have regarding he bad gas mileage my car is getting. Up until winter, my car (2005 mk4 gli) was getting 300-330 miles to the tank. I thought was reasonable, about 150 to a half tank. The setup is pretty normal, apr stage 1 tune (87,89,93,100 octane) with bolt ons (upgraded n75, DV, things like that), a cat back exhaust (unsure of brand), 90k miles was just passed last week. Timing will be done in the spring.
The car has no stutters upon acceleration and idle is staying pretty consistent about 900 rpms. I know there is an exhaust leak, at the flex pipe as I seafoamed the car this fall and discovered that. My question is, which down pipe to you suggest to be the best for the money? I've seen a bunch of different brands, weather it be 42dd, ecs, places of the such.
Would it be cheaper and more efficient to just get a turbo back or stick with the cat back and stay happy? Also, I'm assuming if the leak is in the flex pipe, that the down pipe needs replaced all together. The car DID have a check engine light, for the leak. Since winter the cel has gone away and the gas mileage dropped drastically. When I get a new down pipe or fix the exhaust leak, I also want to change the rear O2 sensor. I believe personally this maybe causing my gas mileage info.
Lastly I have a fuel filter to replace the oem one that's been in there. The same thing happened to me last winter and when summer came around, the gas mileage went up to normal 300-330. I drove to h2oi and was getting well over 30 mpg. Now I'm lucky to get 18mpg.
My cars runs great no smoke unless i let it idle for a while then go there might be a little white smoke or blue smoke just depends, doesn't do it all the time just random, my oil is perfect no water in it so I don't think headgasket, its running a precision 50 trim bigger injectors and full 3 inch exhaust.
