1999.5 golf afp engine cooling fans not working at all. fter run coolant pump also does not seem to be working. fcm changed still no luck fans do work when jumped straight to battery.
View 1 RepliesSo the car will only start to raise in temp over the mid (which is about 190f not sure exactly) when the car is at a stoplight for a good amount of time or the car is at idol, really whenever the car has no air being sucked in through the front it really only goes over temp slightly at a stop because the fans are not cooling it
Also it has been 80 degrees plus here for awhile. It never over heats entirely but I am looking for possibly causes here is a list below of what I think it could be :
Fuses
Fan relay
Thermostat
Or fan control module
My 2001 alero 3400 engine is getting hot again this alero is running with a 2001 impala engine run great for few months, replace radiator, hoses, thermostat and suddenly coolant start leaking in the overflow, fans not working even with ac on, i replace the etc sensor and did not work, the fans turn on when I disconnect the etc sensor so i think the fan motors are ok. I got one pcm module from the salvage yard in case I need to replace it but I read that only the dealer can reprogram the computer system because vin number issues....

View 4 RepliesI own a 2006 Prius with 52k miles on it. Great car BTW. The problem is simple, the radiator cooling fans stopped working on high mode; they run around 25% only even, not removing the heat from the a/c evaporator and the radiator coolant. I checked fuses: OK, checked relays: OK. They spin freely and nothing is blocking the front face of the evaporator. Funny I noticed it when I started hearing the a/c compressor buzzing noise and then I realized the fan noise wasn't there!
View 7 RepliesMy wife's 2009 Ford Flex has an intermittent radiator cooling fan issue. It has dual cooling fans and with the AC on, the passenger side fan runs wide open but the driver side fan doesn't run. With the AC off, neither fan runs even though I let the car idle for a long time to try and get it hot enough to allow the fan(s) to turn on. It doesn't matter if the engine is cold or warm, the passenger side fan runs extremely fast when the AC button is pushed. I've checked all connections and applied some dielectric grease to the connections. I also checked the fuses to the fans. Have to buy the entire dual fan assembly?
View 3 RepliesMy 1994 honda accord station wagons cooling fan is working but the temp gauge still goes all the way up then back to normal numerous times while driving.. I park on the side of the road while the car is on, pop the hood to check and see any signs of over heating but the motor seems to be normal.. What could be happening??
View 10 RepliesX2 nights ago at 11:45pm I was driving home from a friends house with my gf and were going about 65 on the highway and it's lightly raining, then all of a sudden my headlights, windsheld wipers, turnsignals, my ac/fans all just shut off so I had to pull over right away. After sitting there for about 15 mintues I figure out my high beams still work but only if I hold them on(clicking it on doesn't work. So I drive home and the next day check all the fuses in the drivers door and they r all fine. Everything else works in the car but the stuff stated above. My car was reposesd about a year ago when I lost my job and they put this thing I have to enter a code every month, it messed my windsheld wipers and turn signals up before but not anything else! But it still works and the other stuff doesn't, and behind the dash it sounded like crackling and smelt like burning electric right before it shut off.

I noticed the driver side cooling fan stopped working (actually it sometimes goes on or off, but mostly off). I stopped using the A/C. The car has no overheating issues whatsoever. The 2nd fan (passenger side) kicks in when its appropriate
So I think its fair to assume that the fan gave out. In fact I remember using the A/C one day and a smell of burnt electronics/motor overcame me, so I popped the hood and noticed the driver side fan is a little absent .
Some simple questions:
I've been told by people that the 2 fans sometimes have different functionality, one for A/C one for Cooling blah blah. They are different sizes, the one affected is bigger. What is the reality here? Do they have specific purposes?
Should I replace both of them? Since the job is so labor intensive and the other cooling fan has in some way taken the burden of the non-working one?
Is there anything else that could prevent the driver side cooling fan from working (FCM?)?
I have a 1998 Caravan and the engine cooling fans wont go on. Ive replaced the relay and the temp sensor. When I pull the connector off the temp sensor the fans go on so I know the fans and fuses are fine. For some reason it seems the computer module isnt sending a signal to the relay to turn the fan on. I get the trouble codes P1491(radiator fan relay circuit fault) and P0118(engine coolant temp circuit high input).
I am also having a problem with the air conditioning not working. When I do the self diagnostic test on the A/C the results are that it fails the cool-down test. Why the computer module isn't sending a signal to the relay? Could the A/C problem be causing the cooling fans not to come on?
Both engine cooling fans on my 1986 Camry are running all the time; even when the engine is cold.
View 12 RepliesI have a 2004 freestar that cooling fans come on when engine gets to temp but not when I turn on ac it has 5 relays for the cooling fans and they run in series and a dropping resistor. Ithink someone replaced #2 relay with the wrong one and has caused my problem because they did not know what they were doing...
View 3 Replies2003 camry 2.4 ... This is what is happening, cooling fans will not come on except when the AC is turned on and they will stop working when the AC is turned off, otherwise the car will over heat.
This is what I have done...Replaced the fans (because the radiator fan was bad, after hooking them up directly to the battery). I checked all the grounds, including the one under the intake, checked the fuses, checked relays using 12vots to the relay and used a ohm meter to see if it made contact when activated, on the three fan relays. Replaced and tested the new radiator sensor using a pot of water on the cooking stove with a cooking temperature gauge and ohm meter. It tested ok.
Unplug the radiator sensor while the car is running, the fans will come on, but go off as soon as it is plug back in, even when the motor is over heating. Also replaced the thermostat.
What can I do next, before I burn the motor up trying to fix it? Motor just started running rough. Just now pulled up a code of the number three cylinder miss firing
I was driving home and noticed that it seemed harder to shove the gear shift into 1st gear. I stopped on the way home and discovered that I couldn't put the car into reverse, when I tried, and then started to drop the clutch and go in reverse, it was as if the car was locked into both reverse and a forward gear, the engine would bog and the car wouldn't budge.
I popped the hood and checked the shift rods and they looked OK, no obstructions or broken parts. I played with the gears for a bit and finally reverse gear suddenly started working again, but now 1st and 2nd gear are gone! it does not feel as if it's engaging the gears at all, the lever moves free. No different than having it in neutral. 3rd gear and above all still work OK, so I had to use 3rd gear to get the car moving.
I've got a 20th and the backlighting on sunroof control is not lit. I haven't really checked fuses or anything yet, I plan on doing that tomorrow when it's light out.

View 7 RepliesI am getting really irritated with my ac control lights not working. my friend with a gti has the same issue. but we have both changed out the whole piece from a working car and still no lights. i checked my fuses and nothing blown missing 2 fuses (pic card shows KEYS) my lights have been out for over 2 years. some days I don't care but now its really on my last nerve. The last time i remembered they didn't work then one day they did another day.
View 5 RepliesToday I was driving getting on the highway while having the clutch engaged I went to shift into third and it was very hard to get it into gear. For the rest of the day today this was a problem and especially at higher rpm. I am pretty sure my clutch is going. I asked around local and they say it is the clutch. Do I need to also replace my flywheel or can I just use my old one?
