When I hit the unlock button on my key fob or inside the car the one door just doesn't want to unlock.. I have had someone tell me before that i can unhook my battery for 15mins then do something else.. I can't remember what they said.
View 3 RepliesI have a 2005 GLI which seems to have an issue with intermittent door locks. Sometimes when I press the unlock/lock button they will unlock/lock, other times they won't. It also seems to be random as to which doors will unlock/lock. Opening them from inside works just fine.
The dealer said that the door lock control modules probably need to be replaced. I remember seeing a while back that there was a way to fix these as the problem really was some solder within the control module.
I have a jetta mkiv GLI. My key remote stopped working and it will not unlock/lock, open trunk, or panic button for a while, so ill just lock the door putting the key in the door and turning twice. Now i do the same thing to lock the doors, but now it honk like it used to, until i open and close the driver rear door?
View 14 RepliesI have a 2008 Toyota Yaris. A few weeks ago my driver's side rear door stopped unlocking with the button on the key and the button on the driver's side door panel. About 2 weeks ago it started to work again, but just for 1 day; then it went right back to not working. About a week ago my passenger side door did the exact same.
I looked up the issue online and found that people with 07 RAV4s. An owner a RAV4 took the actuator in the door apart and found that the copper contacts had charred. After scraping with extremely fine sand paper and steel wool, and then reassembly of the door, the lock worked.
Air condition will not work in my car. The A/c button will light up but will not do anything. The fan speed will only work on high and not on the other settings. I mean when I set it on 1-3 it will not kick on the fan. When I switch it to 4 it will kick the fan on but no A/C still even at that setting.
View 1 RepliesThis morning I go to work with no problems. Then at lunch I go to my car and get some things with no problem. Then of course it starts pouring down rain just before its time for me to leave to go home and the car is dead. Not just a little dead but completely. It doesnt even have enough power to unlock the doors or display anything on the dash. I checked the normal things in the pouring rain hoping to find a quick fix but it was like a small hurricane. The only thing I found was a small amount of corrosion on the positive terminal. The battery is less than six months old and yes I did check to make sure the lights were off. If it ever stops raining I'm going to go see if it will jump. I've had way to many problems with this car but I've never seen it dead like if the battery was completely disconnected.
View 1 RepliesI have found a new issue with my trunk. When I hit the release button the latch unlocks but when I set my alarm and then attempt to open the trunk it is still unlocked even after the alarm has been set!! The worst part is the alarm doesn't ever go off after I open it..

View 5 RepliesParked my car in freezing temperatures overnight and noticed the door handle's unlock button is frozen and does not work. Was still frozen after my 45 minute drive to work. Try spraying it overnight with windshield washer to prevent freezing and ice damage?
View 9 RepliesI've got an AE edition GTI which has developed a very annoying rattle coming from the button on the hand brake. I'm trying to disassemble it to get to the chrome covered button which is rattling, but can't seem to get the leather wrapped plastic cover off. I've already pulled the center console out and have tried squeezing, pulling, etc every which way (on the leather wrapped cover).
View 12 RepliesStarting a few weeks ago, my drivers side door of my 2007 Camry doesn't unlock either with the keypad or by using the button within the car. Someone broke something off in the lock eons ago so now I'm just climbing over the passengers side which stinks. This isn't happening all the time, usually just when I'm in a rush But it's happening more frequently.
View 3 RepliesLock/unlock button on door handle failed? Over the past couple of weeks mine has iced up a couple of times. I'm pretty sure water is getting behind the button and freezing. Now it seems like the button only works intermittently, and it definitely has a spongy feel to it when you press it. Off to the dealer I guess. Though if it's because of ice it's probably going to fail every year.....

The only thing I can think is to replace the spring in it, but Idon't know how difficult that would be. Otherwise my only other thoughts are to find something thing enough that I can slide into it and hope it doesn't ever jam it up.
View 3 RepliesHere is what is happening, if I press the unlock and lock button on remote or from any switch in the car , the front passenger door will not unlock! all of the doors will lock and unlock, except the front passenger dorr will not unlock only, it does lock,just not unlock, i think it may be a bad motor or actuator, I am sure it will be covered under the CPO warranty, especially since its only been less than 1 week since i had it.

I also have a 2012 Honda CRV, and I'd like to set the key fob/car behavior like the CRV, in that when I click the unlock button, all doors open, instead of the 'classic' behavior one click drivers-side, two clicks both sides - is there a way to set this up ?
Also, I used to have a 2005 Honda Accord, and it had a neat option/behavior - hold down the unlock button after unlocking the car, and the driver and passenger side windows go down - pretty handy when you've parked the car during a hot day - can program that into the key fob/car ?
The rear driver side door on my Passat doesn't work right, it doesn't lock or unlock from the button on the front two doors....and the window only rolls down when that door is open and the car is running, how to fix?

First I would like to fix the door locks. passenger side front, it makes a noise when i hit the lock/unlock button, but doesn't move. Hoping it is the actuator but wanted to make sure first. Is the actuator the first culprit to fix? I guess, How do i know it is the actuator? Wanna order them from rockauto soon. I've researched on here door actuators, looks pretty simple.
View 2 Replies2005 Jetta Gli 1.8t. It decided to do some funky things on me today. I has been running perfectly fine up until I went out for dinner.
When I came back to start her up. Everything worked except for: Radio, Low Beams (both) Fogs, windshield wipers/fluid, rear defrost button, turn signals (but hazards worked fine) and the fan for my heater.
What was working, oddly enough are the amber lights, tails and brake lights, all other lights including the high beam, but ONLY in the position when the stalk is pulled toward the driver. (Have to hold it to keep the high beams on).
It's not the battery because my car wouldn't have started at all if that was the case. It's not the alternator because I disconnected my battery and the car ran just fine and never died. I checked all the fuses of the things that went out but nothing seemed out of the ordinary and all of them seemed just fine.
Where to look next or what to do. I have no check engine lights, or any lights for that matter so I have nothing to scan.
I did a search and read the manual but I can't seem to figure it out. Is there a way to unlock all of the doors by pushing the unlock button on the key fob once? I see in the manual it can be done I think by turning "remote 2 - press unlock" on in the car settings but it doesn't seem to work. Also am I reading correctly that there are no door unlock sensors on the rear doors? With my LS and my old IS I could touch the rear doors and all of the doors would unlock but this can't be done on the GX?
