Attempting to install the rheostat headlight leveling switch I somehow managed to blow out the entire dash lighting.
The two white wires next to the brown one touched each other and made the dash flicker on. Now it doesn't want to turn on at all. I replaced fuse 11 and 15 and that did not luck.
In an attempt to install HIDs on my 2013 f150 screw 4x4 I hated them and I broke my truck. I blew a fuse for the left headlight which I replaced.
My battery now reads 11.9v, I have no dash or radio lights and my truck won't even attempt to start. I can't exit park either. My door locks inside the vehicle work but my remote is useless. My headlights and dome lights work but that's it light wise.
Is my battery just too low and needs to be "reset"? If not my battery does it sound like a main relay or the body control module or similar?
3 weeks ago my slave cylinder blew out in a big way so I limped it home and into the garage and onto jack stands. After tearing out the gearbox, replacing the clutch and slave, we get the thing all buttoned up and start to bleed the clutch.
We feel as though we were making progress but upon pressing the pedal it stopped halfway to the floor, pressing harder now it would go to the floor slowly, then we start to hear the dripping again coming out of the bell housing. If we push on the pedal now, it goes half way down and stops, if you keep pushing harder you can tell that we are just pushing the fluid out at the slave cylinder and it start dripping hard again.
I install sports MFA cluster on my GTi 1.8t. Now I need to install out temp sensor.I know it's mounted somewhere on the driver side behind air duct.I just need the picture to see how exactly this sensor is mounted. My new (used) euro bora sports cluster. I temporally install the sensor.
View 12 RepliesI'm not sure what to make of this ... I disconnected the battery before installing . The gauge seems to be reading correct based on what i researched. If there was a slight leak would it throw the CEL ? is it maybe just a one time thing that needs to be cleared afterwards ? Car drives fine and I plan on trying to stop at autozone to get there crapo freebie scan . Kinda annoyed considering everything went smoothly up until I drove the car more then 50 miles .

View 11 RepliesMy headlight bulb is out on the left side. Tt's just a regular bulb, not HID's or anything. I got a new bulb and it still doesn't work. I checked the wiring and it seems intact. The other lights which are connected in the housing work fine.
View 1 RepliesSo I just recently purchased an HID kit for my GLI. After installing i went to turn them on and my passenger side is out. But when we tested both sides individually they both worked fine. I checked the bulb and tested it with a new one and the new one didnt turn on either. We tried 3 different ballasts and still nothing. I took it to my local shop where i bought them and they were stumped as well. We tested it for power and yes there is power getting to it. Along with all this, my highbeam light on my dash is on?

Well took peoples advice for what worked and did up the headlights today. I think I didn't do enough sanding so I might do them again in the near future. They look better though I think. I took a few pics as I went for others to see and here they are

I have a 2004.5 Jetta GLi and I want to get rid of the Amber turn signal inside the headlight. Do they sell a clear or smoked lens for that, or do I have to buy new headlights all together?
View 3 RepliesOk, got in a fender bender a few weeks ago. The plastic strips (with the Torx screws) holding the headlight steady, broke from the impact. The headlight itself is fine, no glass was broken, headlight still works, but without those plastic things, it will not, of course, stay still. My question is...would I need to buy a whole new headlight just because the plastic tabs are broken?
View 5 RepliesDrove ~1500 miles this week, from MN to MA. While driving through PA my left headlight died in the middle of the night while raining. I ended up fixing it after spending an hour at a gas pump for shelter. Also in PA I randomly stopped.
View 14 RepliesWas driving home yesterday from work and the dash light up saying the car was overheating. Was too dark last night to look at everything so this morning I checked all the fluids and everything was OK.
Drove around the block a few times and noticed when starting the car the thermostat said normal temperature (straight up) even though it was cold, then climbed into the redzone, dropped to zero, then shot back up into the red. the upper radiator hose is hot so fluid is flowing.
Thoughts are bad water pump, thermostat, or blown head gasket after going though my repair book. Not sure how to check any of these. Also ran VAG and nothing came up.
I have a 2002 GTI 337 that I just bought. Got it cheap with minor issues. One of the issues is that the radio and the Dash clock/Odometer will not shut off when the car is off. I took it to VW and they told me that the Driver, Passenger, and Hood latch need replaced (vehicle isn't going into sleep mode). Its not that I do not believe them...
View 4 RepliesSo just for a little bit of a background, I have an Imola 20th with 165k miles on it lowered on B&G's, stage II+ unitronic w/ Franken turbo setup.
I've been running into some issues with the ride as of late, well, more than usual, and I can't seem to figure any of it out. First, the car kept overheating even when it wasn't warm outside after driving for only about 10-15mins. Took it to the shop, and they said that the fan & fan motor died on me and so they replaced that and the blower motor resistor, but then a month later I was back at the shop getting the fan replaced again. A month later, I was at another shop getting the fan switched, and not even two months later I was back at the original shop having the fan swapped out yet again because the previous one died. It's been a couple weeks now since the last fan being switched out and I'm starting to see some overheating issues yet again when the A/C isn't turned on and blasting. That's problem number 1.
Problem 2 would be all of the dash lights that randomly keep coming up; the traction control and ABS lights have been on for about three months now. Just last week the dash light for the airbag came on, and then today the light stays on for the door saying that it's open but the interior lights don't stay on like what's typical seen when the door is open. Also, every now and then when I start the car up the brake light will flash/beep a couple times then stay lit the whole time I'm driving around, but when I turn the car off then turn it back on again the brake light isn't lit...the airbag, ABS, traction, and door lights are still lit. I plugged a reader up to it, and no codes are showing and everything says it's checked out. Not to mention, the car has been idling real funny lately, usually sitting at 800rpm's then randomly dropped to around 400 to where the car almost dies off then it just shoots right back up.
Stop check coolant light came on dash tonight. Scanned the car no code. Did a search pointed towards coolant temp sensor. Car had it replaced by vw estimate of 30,000 miles ago. I tried to see if its green top sensor appears the very bottom ring is green but top is black maybe vw's is different than ecs? Planning to do water pump, belt kit from ecs anything else i should be looking at?

View 21 RepliesThe car is a 2005.5 GLI (75k mi) w/ EvoTech Stg1 software, GHL stack intake, and an Iridium billet diverter valve.
Well today I was driving and the Malfunction Indicator Light on the dash came on and started blinking. When I stepped on the accelerator, the car felt like it had 1/4 the power and began shaking. The car idles kind of weakly, and feels like it has no power when you step on the gas. Also, when you step on the gas the car will shake. The strength of the shaking depends on how hard I press on the throttle, more throttle = more shaking. There is no shaking when it idles or when I have it cruising, only when accelerating.
I am after a annoying dash noise that I get when driving over any rough surfaces. I have removed all centre console and glove box and everything else around that area and I still have the noise, its like the dash is loose some where else, I have looked around for a complete dash removal instruction thread, but can not find anything??
It looks like I will have to remove the whole dash but really could do with some instructions on how to do this as I don't want to break anything!
What makes the brake light on the dash blink and beep after every stop? I've checked my e brake and made sure it was off so I know that cant be the issue
