I have a BMP 20th and I notice that I cannot turn on my high beams but I can flash them. What the problem could be? I was planning on installing my OEM HIDs tonight but now I am wanting to get this fixed before I put them in.

View 3 RepliesSo I pullled into a reststop to relieve myself and when I drove off none of my lamps (high,low,or fog) worked. Along with them my blower fan does not work nor the rear defoggers, wipers, spray with wipers, turn signal (hazards do work though). Is there a fuse or relay that connects them together?
View 2 RepliesOk so I installed HIDs in my stock housing, I no longer have high beams since I bought the low beam ones only and I think since there is nothing running to where the high beam wire on the oem harness my high beam light on the cluster is stuck on no matter if its on low beams or high beams and its causing my Fogs to not work.
View 7 RepliesJust the other day, I'm driving along and flashed my lights at another car so they can make a left turn into a parking lot. No big deal. However, when doing that, I noticed a buzzing noise when I pulled back the lever to engage the lights.
After I got home, I tested things out and found:
With my Euroswitch, I don't have any lights on during the day (no DRLs, etc). This is when this buzzing noise occurs. As it was getting dark out, I also noticed that when I pull the lever back to engage the high beams (i.e., to flash them) the dashboard would light up (like if I turned on the lights normally).
Now, if I have the park lights or headlights on already (which includes the dashboard), and flash the high beams, the buzzing noise does NOT happen.
It also doesn't happen when I push the lever forward to enable the high beams fully. The buzzing sound seems to come from the lower left, around my left knee area or near the steering column.
Why this is happening, and what the cause might be? What is the possible part that needs to be replaced?
I have a 2004 Jetta GLI 1.8T 6-speed. Seems like the old signature is gone.
2005 Jetta Gli 1.8t. It decided to do some funky things on me today. I has been running perfectly fine up until I went out for dinner.
When I came back to start her up. Everything worked except for: Radio, Low Beams (both) Fogs, windshield wipers/fluid, rear defrost button, turn signals (but hazards worked fine) and the fan for my heater.
What was working, oddly enough are the amber lights, tails and brake lights, all other lights including the high beam, but ONLY in the position when the stalk is pulled toward the driver. (Have to hold it to keep the high beams on).
It's not the battery because my car wouldn't have started at all if that was the case. It's not the alternator because I disconnected my battery and the car ran just fine and never died. I checked all the fuses of the things that went out but nothing seemed out of the ordinary and all of them seemed just fine.
Where to look next or what to do. I have no check engine lights, or any lights for that matter so I have nothing to scan.
I used to think when I flash it'll turn on the high beam only but that's wrong.
Today I changed the high bulbs 9005 to a brighter pair trying to get a better DRLs, but when I tested the high beam by flashing I realized it turns both low & high beams on at the same time.
I have HID for low beam so that's not a good thing for me to flash. And I think I did it only one time in the past but now I won't do it again. Is it normal?
Anytime I turn the headlights on, the high beams go on too; I cannot switch off the high beams unless I turn off the headlights entirely (I have been driving with the low beams on during the day for the 5 years I have had the car)
I can find no reason for this; I'm inspecting the fuses (with little expectation). The only thing I can think of is the control switch or wiring. I have standard headlamps, not hid.
I have a 1991 Accord that won't turn on the high beams. I can pull the dimmer switch and it clicks and the dash indicator comes on for the high beams but it just keeps the low beams on. I am guessing the dimmer relay isn't working properly but am not sure how to test it. Also where would I buy one? I have checked a couple sites and even a search doesn't bring it up.

The Twilight Sentinel works properly, and will shut off the high-beams per switch setting ... During the daytime, the high-beams will just stay on till I turn off the car, manual headlight switch won't turn them off ...
View 1 RepliesBasically, my high beams work when flashed (pulling the lever), but they don't work when I want to leave them on (push the lever). It's obvious that it's not the bulbs since they work when flashing. I'd really like to avoid taking it to the dealership since the Lexus dealerships in my area are notorious for overcharging their customers and not doing a good job.
View 7 RepliesI bought a used 2002 Camry (at a discounted price because of a few dings and dents) and the headlights are not working. The high beams and turn signals work but not the headlights. I changed the bulbs, checked all the fuses and got a new relay but still nothing. I brought it to an electro-mechanic and he told me the ECM was busted and that he could maybe grind it down. This seemed odd to me so I called my old mechanic in the states who said he has never heard of an ECM causing headlights not to work and suggested I install a toggle switch. Does this sound like it could work? Could I do this on my own? I'm pretty handy but am a little hesitant to try any electrical work on my car as I have no experience with electrical work.

View 14 RepliesI have a 2003 Toyota Corolla CE manual transmission with 431,000 (not a typo) miles on it. About 7 weeks ago I noticed that when I turn on my high-beams after driving for awhile, the car dies for a few seconds. All lights go out, radio stops, engine stops and then it starts up again as if nothing happened. It will just do it once in about a half-hour time frame. I can switch the high-beams on and off repeatedly afterwards and it doesn't do it again. I have to drive for about a half-hour before it will do it again. I usually hear a slight pop sound when it does it.
A month later I noticed that if I parked it after driving for awhile, like at a gas pump, and get back in it, it acts as if the battery is dead for a few seconds. If I step on the clutch or open and close the driver door, the car comes back on. It appears that the battery was disconnected. The CD pops out of the player and all the radio station settings are gone. One morning last week I got in, and it had happened during the night. The CD was out, station settings gone, and the clock was 6.5 hours off.
I have had the car to a Toyota repair center 3 times. They have checked fuses, battery, battery cables, grounds, alternator, tensioner, looked for rodent nests, squirrels and I don't know what-all, etc. They can't find what is wrong. I am scared to drive it, but I depend on it. I commute 200 miles/day. I won't leave anything important in the car because I am afraid it will catch fire. I am scared I am going to have a wreck, too, with no lights and no power steering suddenly.
I have checked fuse 46 and 47, and installed new headlight bulbs. I have high beams, but no low beams. I have searched this topic but no one has the same prob it seems. My headlight switch has broken. Could it be the headlight switch?
In my manual, it says the 2002 has a fuse panel behind the glove box. I took glove box out but it doesn't look like a fuse panel.
I recently installed new halo HID headlights in my 2003 f150 with HID bulbs and ballast the passenger side worked and the drivers side didn't nth lights wired exactly the same. I switched everything from the passenger to the drivers side still nothing I switched everything back to passenger side and they don't work now. I tired regular bulbs in the passenger side an it worked then on the drivers side and it worked for a split second and went out and then I retried t on the passenger side and it worked for a split second and went out a now neither are working. I checked all the fuses and their good. What the problem could be?

When I press the asr switch the light comes up which i think its telling me that works. But its supposed to work when you go high rpm's right ? just wanna know since i am a totally newby in the 1.8t engine ...
View 11 RepliesI just recently replaced my radiator and cold air intake. right after I did and I drove it, my car was idling high at 1.5 and the brakes feel like they are going out. I am kind of confused as to how this is even related.
