I have found a new issue with my trunk. When I hit the release button the latch unlocks but when I set my alarm and then attempt to open the trunk it is still unlocked even after the alarm has been set!! The worst part is the alarm doesn't ever go off after I open it..

View 2 RepliesAfter euro switch is installed on mk4 gli, the parking lights still remain on with the front fogs.The switch would be in the middle position. So the DRL's are off and just the parking lights are on until the switch is pulled out into position 1. Then the fogs come on and pulling out into position 2, turns the rear fogs on.

View 4 RepliesI have a light flickering on and off that claims the door is open, after a few months and a lot of testing I have come to the assumption that the sensor in my trunk hatch is sending a relay to the computer as if the door is open.... I can't find a latch sensor or relay for this thing, just the striker plate and the wiring that unlocks the switch as well as the wiring for the rear wiper blade....

I've also noticed about a week ago in my gauge cluster that the sign for the door being opened was on and then it turned off and then flicker on and off for about 30 sec ? So I think that has to do with the alarm but my question is how do I fix this problem???
View 8 RepliesJust yesterday my alarm went off. I thought maybe it was because a cycle went by with loud pipes, but I disarmed, opened the door, re-armed and it went off again about 10 minutes later.
Last night it went off/on for about 2 hours every 10 minutes when locked and armed/disarmed. The last time I went out, disarmed it, left it unlocked and started walking away when it went off. Scared the hell outta me at 3am. What the problem could be?
MY mk4 key fob has been working just fine till the other day. I went to unlock the doors with the key fob and the alarm started to sound. Proceeded to unlock the doors with the actual key and then that shut the alarm off. So I can only lock my car with the key itself now. I changed the battery out of the fob and still nothing. Every time I go to hit unlock it triggers the alarm.

View 4 RepliesSo recently my car alarm on my GLI has been going off randomly while I'm at work and school. The alarm goes off for about 5 minutes and then stops. Tonight it's going off constantly and I don't want to wake up my neighbors and I need to sleep tonight. It's going off every 5 minutes even after I disarm the car. I've been searching up why it's going off online and haven't had any luck finding the source. Also after a few minutes of unlocking it the car locks itself and then the alarm sounds.
View 8 RepliesI have problem in my alarm siren, need to say it's an original electronic with 3 pins connector, the problem is i don't hear any sound to the siren when it's going off , when i arm it i do hear 1 peep and when i disarm i do hear 2 peeps, but when i open any door it's just blinking the hazard without any sound! i checked via VAG-5051 in 46 then 02 to find faults, i found 1 fault : H12 no communication!
When I do 46 then 03 to operate the siren i do hear it just peeping ! I wondered if the 5051 telling me no communication with the sirenH12, then how do the siren peeps in lock and unlock?
Today I used my remote to unlock my car without a problem. When I got home from work I went to lock my car and nothing. I went a bought a new battery and replaced it, still no luck which now means I can lock my car but cannot set my alarm. I tried my extra remote and no luck with that one either.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2003 20th anniversary edition and when i lock the car with the remote it sometimes does the alarm honk and sometimes doesn't. when it does honk after locking it, about a minute or so later the alarm goes off. but when it doesn't honk after locking it with the remote i am fine, nothing happens and the car is locked.

View 3 RepliesSo yesterday I finally got around to replacing the driver side door lock module in my GLI. I bought a OEM replacement. After taking 4 hours to install it yesterday I locked the doors and armed the alarm to see if replacing the module would stop the possessed car alarm. It didn't, at 1:30 am the alarm went off waking up me and my family. I've ran out of options of what it could be setting off the alarm and it's annoying having to unhook the battery every night.
View 6 RepliesThis morning I go to work with no problems. Then at lunch I go to my car and get some things with no problem. Then of course it starts pouring down rain just before its time for me to leave to go home and the car is dead. Not just a little dead but completely. It doesnt even have enough power to unlock the doors or display anything on the dash. I checked the normal things in the pouring rain hoping to find a quick fix but it was like a small hurricane. The only thing I found was a small amount of corrosion on the positive terminal. The battery is less than six months old and yes I did check to make sure the lights were off. If it ever stops raining I'm going to go see if it will jump. I've had way to many problems with this car but I've never seen it dead like if the battery was completely disconnected.

My key remote stopped working and it will not unlock/lock, open trunk, or panic button for a while, so ill just lock the door putting the key in the door and turning twice. Now i do the same thing to lock the doors, but now it honk like it used to, until i open and close the driver rear door?
View 14 RepliesAfter researching this for weeks, I think I've found that the pollen filter seal is worn and that's why I'm having water leaking onto my front passenger side floor. My car alarm has been going off randomly too. Every time it rains the floor is soaked. It's not the sunroof drain plugs. I already tried that. I need to fix this ASAP!!! How do I fix a worn pollen filter seal? I have a caulk gun ready!
