I got a 20th with 83k on it and when i let it sit at idle for like 10 min to warm up after i get in and give a little gas it smokes a little bit and smells like burnt oil.. would this be the case that my turbo is going bad??

My car now smokes, and I thought it would stop smoking after a few hours of letting it run, but It still smokes, at Idle. and once I step on it after Idling, it smokes alot. but after constant driving, like on highway, It doesn't smoke.

View 12 RepliesHow difficult is it to change the bulb(s) for the dome light in a 05 GLI (mine is burnt out). Also the lights behind the HVAC Controls is burnt out as well, so is that difficult to get at and fix. I wouldn't think those would be on the same fuse cuz all the other interior lights work and everything, but I don't know.
View 10 RepliesI have a 98 f150 2wd 4.6 the truck began showing signs that it needed a head gasket about 2k miles ago, my coolant reservoir smells like gas and the coolant is a rusty brown color the truck smokes slightly and the oil cap has chocolate moose like substance from the oil mixing with water. I dont care to keep the truck to much longer however i need it to last me to the end of year. I purchased some k-seal and new oil/coolant etc but after thinking about it all of that chocolate moose up in the valve covers will still be in my motor after i perform the oil change and coolant flush. How should I go about attempting to clean the motor out ? seafoam scares me because i do not know if my rings are already damaged from driving while needing the head gasket, Or should i just keep doing oil changes until it looks clean?

The valve cover gasket has been changed, and it still smells! The next step is to delete the PCV. These fumes are making me sick; rolling down your windows does not work....
View 6 RepliesRecently I did 2 drain and fills on my elantra HD with 112k miles about 2 weeks apart on the transmission replacing the fluid with Valvoline Maxlife atf. When checking the fluid level it smells burnt but still has a red color to it. Any body else used this fluid for extended amounts of time?
View 5 RepliesThis is the second time that this has been happening. Noticed that it only happens when I use tiptronic (manual). First time I was driving hard then floored brake become light turned yellow. Few minutes later, a rotten, sulfur, egg smell came out of no where and my sister thought I passed gas (when I did not).
Second time that happened was when I dropped off my friend late at night, went on manual but this time I drove casually & normally and didn't go crazy. As soon as my friend got off, there's more of a burnt smell then with a hint of a rotten egg that took place in my car.
My car is 2009 and has only 83k miles in it. Read to a similar scenario online and seems like my catalytic converter needs to be replaced.
I worried that my car is internally bad, should I bring it back to Toyota (where I purchased vehicle pre-owned) for a diagnostic?
My truck is puffing smoke after about 10 minutes and warmed up (looks white). It happens only one time for about 30 seconds and looks light grey or whitish in color, definitely not black smoke. The truck runs just fine, starts great, doesn't hesitate or studder, doesn't loose any coolant, no signs of pukage. In other words, it Runs perfect.
By the time the smoke happens I am usually at an intersection and see this white smoke billow past me or see it in the pass. side mirror. it's too hard at the time to get out of the truck at that exact 10-15 seconds it smokes to smell it or see it's true color without my sunglasses on but it looks white or greyish. not convinced it's a blueish color.
The truck doesn't smoke at start up or run rough so I'm ruling out injectors. I think it might be the egr cooler that is still connected eventhough there is no hot gasses going through it. (Did the up pipe mod). I might have an egr valve that has a bad seal on it. I'll have to remove the egr valve and see if it looks gummy in there since the egr cooler still routes coolant.
The other thing it might be is a bad oil seal on the turbo which is burning off leaked oil after it's warmed up, again I don't see it smoke for the rest of the day.
The very first time I saw it smoke was the day after I did the up pipe mod and capped off the egr cooler. I may have had a small cooler leak before I did the up pipe mod and now the coolant (if it's coolant) can't run in the exhaust or burn off there directly. My SCT turns off the egr valve but the valve may have a bad seal in it along with a defective egr cooler. will remove the valve to inspect tomorrow if possible.
I started up my car after work and and it had a super low idle it almost seemed like it wanted to shut off. I brought the rpms up to 2k for only for a few sec. Let off it was fine? It was cold out. But its never done that b4.
It almost felt like it was bogging out. I have brand new air filter. And spark plugs.
I just put on a magnaflow cat-back exhaust and sometimes when i idle i have a rattle and sometimes it will not rattle. I went under it and shook all around to see if anything was hitting but there was nothing i could see. What could it be?

I have a 20th and when the car idles it shakes a little but when I take off the car rumbles alot the only way not to make it rumble is rev it to 1500rpm what can it be causing this?? I have a catback tt exhaust can it cause it to do it?
View 1 RepliesI've been fixing some boost leaks and changed "race" valve out to the stock "f" type...drove down road it's awesome put it back into 93 mode apr chip give it hell in 1st and 2nd then turn onto another road to repeat and when comes under boost it sputters...like a bad coil pack but wouldn't that mean it sputters from idle up?
View 3 RepliesLately, every once in awhile my cars idle will drop and the car acts like it will die, but never does. I tried turning up the idle +50 with v-tune to see if it would cure the problem, but the car still acts like it will die during idle.
View 2 RepliesSo my car has 67k on it, is babied and taken care of. She runs good however at idle, she seems to put out small little backfires. I just noticed this a little while ago. Sitting in the car I can feel when this happens, it's like a small quick sputter but I'm getting no noises from the engine when these fluctuations happen. The exhaust from almost up by the DP back to the tailpipe will move with the sputter if that makes sense. Seems like it's a slight misfire but im not really sure what it could be. runs strong and the temp always reads normal and I am getting no CEL.
View 18 RepliesMy cars runs great no smoke unless i let it idle for a while then go there might be a little white smoke or blue smoke just depends, doesn't do it all the time just random, my oil is perfect no water in it so I don't think headgasket, its running a precision 50 trim bigger injectors and full 3 inch exhaust.

View 1 RepliesSo I was warming up my car after work tonight, and it was idling really rough right above 1RPMS and i heard a lil knocking noise from the engine what could have caused this? I was parked on a slight hill but i doubt that has something to do with it.
Also my buddy told me a way to see if my clutch was going out, is to try and kill the car while in gear, so i tried 1st time it shook really really bad but didn't die. So I tried again and it seemed like it was trying to catch its self and then shook bad again and then died. I did this in 1st gear just letting off the clutch before giving it gas. Does this mean my clutch could be going out already? the car only has 63k on it...
Have a jazz blue chipped tuned with giac.. It does this random times.. When I come to a red light on idle the rpms go up and down just a bet but never stalls. The car vibrates and the engine shakes a bit. Engine is stable when car is on and off. Idk if its motor mounts or what?
View 10 RepliesWhile starting up the 337 this morning, I received a stumbling idle from the engine. I popped the hood and noticed that there was a bit of bluish / purplish discoloration on the tops of the coilpacks. Gonna replace the packs and plugs today, just wanted to know if there was anything else I should check for.
Also, this wouldn't be related to the death of the driver's side door lock module would it? (I noticed that when i opened the door, the light and the fuel pump didn't prime....)
I have a mk4 gli and I'm having a problem with serpentine belt squealing when I'm at idle and when I turn the ac on. It's isn't all that loud at idle but when I turn on my ac it gets real loud. My ac stopped working a little but after this noise started to happen. Could it be possible that it's the bearing in the compressor that is making it squeal or could it be somthing else?
