I have a 05 GLI, traction and ABS light are on. Previous owner said they replaced the front left sensor in question but the light still comes on. Is this a wiring issue or is there something I am missing? I inspected the sensor and it seems to be good.
View 8 RepliesI took my car for a drive and i soon as I pull out of the driveway the abs light and traction light appeared on the cluster. I tried to reset the battery but no luck. I tried to search but for some reason the search is down. What could be wrong with the car? It still drives and seems fine but abs and traction doesn't work.
View 20 RepliesAlright i have a 05 1.8t GLI I just installed a 42 draft designs full 3inch turboback, and a eurojet turbo inlet hose, after I put the stuff on my check engine light came on which I thought was gonna happen and is normal but my traction control light came on as well, the cars running better then ever and pulling harder then ever, but when i hooked it up to the computer I'm throwing 18 codes? Ive triple check to make sure everythings tight and in the right spot? What could be wrong?

View 2 RepliesI have a 20th AE. My traction control light went on and stayed on while I was driving and now it won't go away. I hit the switch to try to turn traction control on, but the light still on and traction control is still inoperative. I havn't really checked out what could be wrong yet, so what could be the fault and what I should check first.
View 14 RepliesI get in my car to leave Target last night and the ABS light & "traction control off" light (normally on when I push the ECS button on the dash) turned on. Did the usual turn the car off and wait for routine, but that didn't work. Haven't made any changes to the car, and it hasn't rained in a while either so I don't think it's due to water shorting something out. As you all know, the DIY sticky post doesn't work anymore, so that's why I'm probably posting a repeat of something.

View 8 Repliesso another winter has come to me in michigan and i had to take off my nice performance tires and put on the winter steelies. but as i come to now with them on, my ESp light has come on, on my dash and wont turn off even if i reset the car. i havent checked the VAGCOM yet cause that laptop is at my parents. the tires are the same i used last year and didnt have this happen either. any thoughts on this and what could be wrong? haveing no traction control in the winter is not cool to have in my book.
View 11 RepliesSo I just drove home and the battery light comes on. A few miles later the ABS and Traction Control Light come on as well. Then I notice the windshield wipers slowing down, etc. You get the idea.
I turned everything non-essential off and made it all the way home. Of course, after I turned her off, the car won't start now.I took a couple of pictures of my battery. It always looked a bit corroded and messy, but this is pretty bad.
What I need to get the car running again? Obviously the red wire on the left is in bad shape. Is that something one can buy at the auto store? Or should I just bring her to my local shop.
So I was exiting the freeway the other day. It was a long gradual sweeping left hand turn. View 1 RepliesTwo weeks ago had to replace my ECU due to failing. Got a new one, reflashed my Uni software and the only code left after the ECU was replaced was the Air Intake Temp Sensor. That was 12 days ago. Today, get home. Car was running smooth all day. No issues. Go out and start the car and my idle is at 1300. (Normally 750) I have zero throttle response. I've unhooked the battery twice to do a reset, unplugged the throttle body sensor and plugged back in, still got nothing.
View 9 RepliesSo a week ago i needed to change my mass air sensor due to every time it was raining it would almost stale and my check engine light was on. Now this week both my traction and engine lights are on always. When i start my car u. The morning it turns over but almost dies due to The rpms so low basically it's almost stalling if i give it gas usually it kicks it over then stays on no problem. ALSO if i reev high i hear a little grind or moan noise as well.

View 5 RepliesI have multiple O2 codes on my '02 gti. It is giving me a check engine lights as well as the traction control light on. I received 6 codes all but one of them had to do with the O2 sensor and a short except for one that came in as the MAF. Both O2 sensors have been replaced and the codes still won't clear. I bought it in this condition, it runs really well so i wasn't to concerned about it, but the lights are starting to get annoying.

View 4 RepliesSo recently my car alarm on my GLI has been going off randomly while I'm at work and school. The alarm goes off for about 5 minutes and then stops. Tonight it's going off constantly and I don't want to wake up my neighbors and I need to sleep tonight. It's going off every 5 minutes even after I disarm the car. I've been searching up why it's going off online and haven't had any luck finding the source. Also after a few minutes of unlocking it the car locks itself and then the alarm sounds.
View 8 RepliesSo i have a 2005 jetta gli that i just got a few months ago. it never came up just till recently with hurricane sandy but somewhere on the passengers side water is running into the vehicle from the a pillar past the glove box and making a pond out of the entire passengers side of the car. I've only found a few posts on here of it happening but with no good explanations of why or how to repair/fix it. all of the rubber looks good no debris or dirt is blocking anything from flowing.
View 8 RepliesSo I have a 2005 gli here is what's going on. The ac compressor is not engaging, the reticulation button is not lighting up when pressed in, the cruise control is not coming on and the daytime running lights are not turning off when the hand brake is engaged. And the radiator cooling fans to not spin when the engine is first started. I have checked all the fuses inside and over the battery. I have checked the relays ( they click when hooked up to power). I'm suspecting a bad fan control module. I've done some searching and that's the only thing I have found that would control the fans and the ac.
View 2 RepliesMy 2005 VW GLI has a fuel smell when I turn on the car ... I think it might be running rich or something I don't know.. All I know is I think the fuel and air mixture is not right ... What should I do? what should I check? will a re-tune do anything?
View 2 RepliesFor the life of me I can't figure out what is causing this smell. Its got a little over 65k miles and for whatever reason when I'm driving at a steady 70-75mph on the highway I get this garbage like smell that can last between 2-6 sec or so with or without the a/c on. It appears to have no effect on the car though. I'm not overheating, I'm not losing any power from the motor, my clutch is still very smooth and no signs of slipping, my idle is solid as a rock, and I can't find any fluids leaking at all. It does seem to happen more frequently as the outside temperature increases and it is a very potent smell. I just can't find the source. It has only happened while I'm on the highway and have had absolutely zero luck finding that same smell when I've got it parked with the hood up.
