GTI 337/20th Anniversary :: 2004 - Cluster Illumination Not Working

My 04.5 GLI's cluster is so dim when illuminated (yes i have the dimmer turned up). I was comparing it to my friends GLS jetta and my other friends GLX GTi (they have a different cluster for me obviously, but same as each other correct?). Unfortunately there are no other 3/2/G's around the area to compare with. i have a new south color match boost gauge, and it is almost twice as bright as the cluster. yet it looked "perfectly matched" in my friends GLS. Are the 3/2/G clusters just straight up dimmer or what can i do to diagnose/fix this problem?

I am having trouble with all sorts of functions on my 2002 F150 4x4, 4wd not working, cluster module illumination not working, horn not working, reving up and down at idle and sometimes dyin, cruise control quit working. I have been reading it is the GEM module that causes these issues. My question is I ordered a new one from Ford, when it arrives I was told I can just install it and It should be pre programmed. but one ford house tells me that they have to install it and program it. Which it right? I have seen several sites on u tube where people replace the module and then start their truck right up without any issue.

I have a 2005 mkiv GLI and my gas gauge, temp gauge, and information display stopped working when the car is running. They work when the car is on auxiliary but not while it's running. The lights all work on the cluster all the time but the needles don't move as soon as the car turns on.

i just recently put in 35W 8000K hi/lo HID's in my GLI the problem is for some reason on my instrument cluster it says my hi beams are one which they are not and it is only lightly illuminated. if u turn on the hi beams the hi beam switch on the cluster turns on and gets brighter so is their any way i could have the switch completely turned off like it was with stock bulbs?

Last night was the 1st night my car spent OUTSIDE the garage and it POURED! Anyhow, the door ajar symbol is lit in my instrument cluster but all the doors are shut. I did the walk around, made sure all the doors and hatch are closed. The symbol would disappear for a minute then reappear. Whats up with that? I never came across a problem like that.. Where are the sensors so I can check them? Are they the little things that stick out underneath the door?

Just wanted to check my memory / mode of operation of instrument cluster illumination... I seem to recall that the main instrument cluster dials were illuminated at all times, ie full brightness during the day with the headlights off and with variable brightness at night with the headlights on - is this correct?
Reason for asking is that the main dials, speedo / rev counter are now dark when the headlights are off - this does not seem right as, in other than bright sunlight, the dials are very hard to read - centre LCD display remains back lit OK.
With headlights on, illumination works as expected - when headlights go off, the main dials stay illuminated for a fraction of a second and then dim to off.

Someone mentioned that the lighting on the speedo/revs came on after a delay instead of slowly getting brighter. Anyway mines now doing this, the needles light up red then maybe 15 seconds later the background lights come on.

I've got a 2002 jetta. new ecu, new cluster, new keys (new to me from a 2010 beetle) all installed but my windows, door illumination, locks and electric mirrors dont work. Windows will go up and down with key in door, and locks work that way as well. if i put my old cluster back, everything works fine.

I was driving home and noticed that it seemed harder to shove the gear shift into 1st gear. I stopped on the way home and discovered that I couldn't put the car into reverse, when I tried, and then started to drop the clutch and go in reverse, it was as if the car was locked into both reverse and a forward gear, the engine would bog and the car wouldn't budge.
I popped the hood and checked the shift rods and they looked OK, no obstructions or broken parts. I played with the gears for a bit and finally reverse gear suddenly started working again, but now 1st and 2nd gear are gone! it does not feel as if it's engaging the gears at all, the lever moves free. No different than having it in neutral. 3rd gear and above all still work OK, so I had to use 3rd gear to get the car moving.

I've got a 20th and the backlighting on sunroof control is not lit. I haven't really checked fuses or anything yet, I plan on doing that tomorrow when it's light out.

So the car will only start to raise in temp over the mid (which is about 190f not sure exactly) when the car is at a stoplight for a good amount of time or the car is at idol, really whenever the car has no air being sucked in through the front it really only goes over temp slightly at a stop because the fans are not cooling it
Also it has been 80 degrees plus here for awhile. It never over heats entirely but I am looking for possibly causes here is a list below of what I think it could be :
Fuses
Fan relay
Thermostat
Or fan control module

I am getting really irritated with my ac control lights not working. my friend with a gti has the same issue. but we have both changed out the whole piece from a working car and still no lights. i checked my fuses and nothing blown missing 2 fuses (pic card shows KEYS) my lights have been out for over 2 years. some days I don't care but now its really on my last nerve. The last time i remembered they didn't work then one day they did another day.

Today I was driving getting on the highway while having the clutch engaged I went to shift into third and it was very hard to get it into gear. For the rest of the day today this was a problem and especially at higher rpm. I am pretty sure my clutch is going. I asked around local and they say it is the clutch. Do I need to also replace my flywheel or can I just use my old one?

When I hit the buttons on the remote the red light blinks so I assume it has power. But doors dont unlock, lights dont flash, and it can't open the trunk. Is there a fuse for this?

The horn doesn't work, but when I lock the car I get the "honk" from the factory alarm...
Long story short...car got broken into, radio stolen, n00b-dumbass radio installer from the insurance company was fuddeling around with the fuse box to power the radio via a 12v source (again...long story). His hands were also behind the kick panel below the steering wheel to run some wires. I only noticed the horn not working a few days after this guy worked on my car. Coincidence?
Is there a fuse / relay that goes bad with our horns?
