I'm an owner of a 04 Gli car is great just had a problem this weekend my dash marks coolant level I fill it up all the way and later on it has none I checked the hoses and there is no leak and the fan does not turn on i bought it a new fan switch does .a question i have is at what temp does my fan need to turn on? any is it marking coolant...my check engine light is not on.
View 1 RepliesI just drove the GLI from pa to myrtle beach for vacation. On the way back I noticed the temp was steadily rising while idling at a red light then at a gas station. Coolant level is fine. Thermostat, water pump, thermostat, and both temp sensors were recently replaced in the last two months.
So I know none of those things are a variable. Both fans never come on. I tried turning on the ac to get them to come on. But nothing. I read as much as I could on forums to find a solution but none applied to my specific problem.
Car is completely stock besides p flow intake. Has 153000 miles I'm pretty sure everything involving fan is original.

Problem: HID's wont turn on
Parts: Helix Projectors; Direct Connection Tuning 6000K HID kit, Ebay relay harness
Other Facts: Had this setup for about 8 or 9 months now with no problems whatsoever. Drove my car home last night and they worked fine. Got in my car tonight for the first time since last night and my headlights wouldnt turn on. All lights, work, just not the low beam HID's (and the high beams, but that's because there's no bulbs in there).
The fact that neither bulb works leads me to believe its the relay harness. Whats the deal? What can I check? All connections and fuse for relay harness seem fine...
I have a 2004.5 Jetta GLi and I want to get rid of the Amber turn signal inside the headlight. Do they sell a clear or smoked lens for that, or do I have to buy new headlights all together?

Now I need to install out temp sensor.I know it's mounted somewhere on the driver side behind air duct.I just need the picture to see how exactly this sensor is mounted. My new (used) euro bora sports cluster. I temporally install the sensor.

The temperature actually just rises when i start driving and the mpg doesnt change at all? Should I just disconnect the battery so it resets? ]

View 4 RepliesI'll be driving the 20th, and all of a sudden everything just cuts out and the car turns itself off (Only happens when I come to a complete stop). Afterwards, all dash lights come on until I turn the key back and forth and restart the car. After that, she drives perfectly and usually doesnt do that again but......She will either
1)Blip the radio off then immediately it will come back on
2)Today I turned on my DRLs and the illumination in the dash bliped out for about 3 seconds then came back on
3) When I shut the car off, every now and then she resets herself to where my clock resets back to noon and the odometer (trip mileage, not total) resets back to zero.
What ground to check, etc.
I have a BMP 20th and I notice that I cannot turn on my high beams but I can flash them. What the problem could be? I was planning on installing my OEM HIDs tonight but now I am wanting to get this fixed before I put them in.
View 2 RepliesAlright, so upon starting my car earlier today, i was unable to get the fuel pump to turn on and send fuel to the motor, car will crank over and want to start, theres just no fuel getting to it. I'm going to replace the fuel pump relay and clean up the throttle body to cover the simple stuff. also i recently just installed a 3 inch down pipe, could have the o2 sensors shorted as a result of a bad knock?

View 4 RepliesThis started recently and it's definitely out of the norm... When I activate my signal and it switches off, i still hear the ticking but no lights are flashing. it'll go on for about a few sec then shut off, sometimes comes on even when i didn't activate my blinkers. Also when i start my car i feel a vibration from under my feet. Sounds like a knocking noise when i accelerate/turn. But then goes away after about 20 seconds of driving.
View 13 RepliesI changed the bulbs from the stock to LED then the error light was showing so I decided to switch back the stock lights (I did this while the lights were on).
And now my city lights will not turn on at all! It is a fuse that is causing this problem?
Both the front headlights do not turn on. I checked the fuses on the side panel and they all seem fine. I removed my battery to start another car. Do not know if that is the cause for killing the front head lights. Day time running lights are not on either. Lower fog lights work.
View 8 RepliesI've been hearing a "clunk" like noise here & there when I turn the wheel on my GLI all the way to one side then turning it back. I've heard it when making u-turns and when reversing. It seems to be coming from somewhere on the bottom of the drivers side and it doesn't happen all the time. I've brought it to the shop twice but they can't seem to figure out what the problem is & the car won't make the noise whenever they seem to test drive it. What this might be?
