I have a 2003 AE and my keyless entry doesn't work. I have tried all the instructions that i can find on the internet and my manual. I replaced the key in my fob and had a locksmith check and its sending the 315hz signal just like it should. before i take it to the dealer is there anything else i can do? is it my car and how and what do i need to check? what part of the car accepts the signal?

View 6 RepliesSo my 20th runs completely fine until rain is involved.. Once it rains and I bring my rpms high or use my turbo it almost staples out and the gas doesn't work.. Also I notice it shoots out a puff of white smoke and my. Turbo doesn't spool at the way.. It basically tries and just does something like psh psh psh psh like second spools? Could water get in my. Turbo or something.
View 19 RepliesI just picked up a Black 20th tonight. All stock with 48,000 miles. I'll get some pics up asap. But for now I'm gonna be lurking around trying to work out the kinks of the car. The Temp gauge doesn't work and the passenger door only opens from the inside when first unlocked.
View 15 RepliesWhen I hit the buttons on the remote the red light blinks so I assume it has power. But doors dont unlock, lights dont flash, and it can't open the trunk. Is there a fuse for this?
View 9 RepliesI have a 2005 Pruis and the remote entry does not work. Changed the battery in the remote and I still have to put the remote key in slot to start the car. Been working fine for ten years.
View 5 RepliesI don't get it. Usually after I've driven the car, either of the remotes (I've changed batteries on both) do not work. However, if I go into a store and come out 10 minutes later, both remotes will lock, unlock, open the trunk, sound the emergency horn without any problems.
I've even replaced the Keyless Entry Theft Cont Module, which is basically the Remote Entry receiver located in the trunk. I still have the exact same problem with the new receiver.
The remote fobs have new batteries, and one is brand new and programmed with a GM Tech Tool II. The system's receiver is new.
What else could it be. Why does the remote entry only work when the car has been sitting idyll for a while.
It's cold and of course when I need it the factory installed key fob doesn't work. I took the car to one of those fancy car accessory stores and they said my alarm was working just fine. The power locks work fine when locking the car from inside the car. Just not using my remote fob. Searching Google I found an article about a similar condition where they said the solenoid was faulty and this was common for my model.
I know little about cars but this sounds expensive. What is a solenoid and why just the car fob. What is the point of having a remote start if you can't use it in 18 degree weather.
I just bought a 2013 GLI Autobahn 6 speed manual. Ive owned a 6 speed Mazda Speed6 before but I'm having issues figuring out when to shift as this transmission seems different than any other stick I've owned. Usually my shifts would be right around 30 for 3rd, 40 for 4th, 50 for 5th, etc. Seems with this its a little higher and it doesn't want 4th until 45, 5th until 55.
But it seems like at 55 The car is telling me to shift to 5th but if I do it almost doesn't want it and feels like it struggles. Same thing in 6th, I don't feel right until I'm going 70 but that seems too fast to be first going into 6th since in 5th I am over 3k rpms and in my Speed6 I was in 6th at 60 mph. Feel like I am constantly in between 5th and 6th on the highway and its annoying.
Just curious what other are experiencing and when they tend to shift under normal driving.
First off i couldn't get the car into reverse to back out of a convenience store and then i let off the clutch to try and pump it again and the car just dies. drove just fine up until i parked. Now when i try to move through gears it sounds like it's shifting but the car doesn't move. The car does have a stronger clutch and unitronic chip if that would have to do with anything.
View 13 RepliesSo my parking brake doesn't engage when the lever is pulled. The light lights up on the dash saying the parking brake is engaged but the brake I not engaged. It hasn't been a huge problem for me since my Jetta is a 6-speed but I would like to fix it some time soon. Looking for a DIY? I did a quick search and didn't find anything really.
View 3 RepliesI have a problem with my 20th anniversary gti. My 1st and 2nd gear won't work. Every other gear works fine, the gears never grind before or any unusually noise. I was pulling off my driveway and they just stop working. Even when the car it's on I can move my shifter to 1st and 2nd without the clutch and nothing happens.
View 3 RepliesSo I picked up a 20th today. The clutch has 30k on it its an oem luk. Drove fine most of the ride home then i went to shift and it wouldn't grab. Got it towed home. trans goes into all gears fine. When you put it in first and try to go it starts to roll but just makes a grinding type noise and doesnt go into gear. I didn't hear any chatter until maybe 10 miles before this happened. I still have pressure in the clutch pedal as well. when the car is in neutral running there isnt any noise which makes me think it isnt the throw out bearing.
View 2 RepliesAir condition will not work in my car. The A/c button will light up but will not do anything. The fan speed will only work on high and not on the other settings. I mean when I set it on 1-3 it will not kick on the fan. When I switch it to 4 it will kick the fan on but no A/C still even at that setting.
View 1 RepliesMy headlight bulb is out on the left side. Tt's just a regular bulb, not HID's or anything. I got a new bulb and it still doesn't work. I checked the wiring and it seems intact. The other lights which are connected in the housing work fine.

Came out of the shop after inspection and now i can shift into first or second gear but not the rest, its stuck in those two and they do not work. do i need a new trans or is it a shift fork and or linkage?
View 11 RepliesCar ran perfectly normal. come back out start the car, the EPC light comes on, and my gas pedal doesn't work. Doesn't do a THING...first 3 times i killed it and re-started it, the rpms shot up to 4500 for a second then fell to around 1100 and stayed there. now i start it and it just hangs at 1100. car has 47k miles on it, a 3in DP 2.5in magnaflow catback, short ram intake, TIP, 710N DV, stock N75. Only thing I can think of is TPS but I don't have access to a vag com.
View 2 RepliesThe shift lever goes into the gates fine, if a bit easier. No weird noises. 1st and 2nd gear don't work - they act like neutral.
3rd-6th and reverse work fine. Clutch hadn't been slipping. It's the original clutch.
Local mechanic found no issues between the shift lever and the transmission itself. 3 weeks ago replaced timing belt and water pump and the car has been running well.
Yesterday I was driving home from work in light stop-and-go traffic. At one point I put the car in first and it acted like it was in neutral. Engine revved but there was no engagement of the drivetrain. 2nd gear was the same story. After experimenting, 3rd-6th and reverse worked and I was able to get the car limping off to a parking lot by starting in 3rd.
I got it towed to a local mechanic who services my car who said he doesn't crack open transmissions but would look to see if there was something obvious wrong between the transmission and the shift lever. He didn't find anything.
So I got this car for 750 and I did choose to take on the problems of the car for the miles on it and how much life I've seen these jettas go for I thought it was a pretty good deal runs and drive great except front left wheel bearing. Onto the lighting so found that the low beams only work when the car is in the on position and when the car is started and running the low beams do not work the bulbs are good because I replaced them and they work when the ignition is in the on position and I have check the fuses all seemed to be fine I also noticed that the only lighting I get on my cluster is the two display screens down on the bottom not even rpm/mph cluster? Could any of this be symptoms of faulty headlight switch? Or too much resistance somewhere?? I also notice my high beam switch also doesn't stay on I would have to hold the switch if I wanted to keep it on....
View 2 RepliesMy radio does not work kinda... when i turn the car on it works for a minute just fine, then the volume goes off and i cant put it up or down, but i can use and other function cd/casset fm, change stations and all that i just cant use the volume, or hear anything if i turn the radio off and then back on it works for like 5 sec then same thing happens.... I know sounds like fuses, but why does it work then shuts off?
View 3 RepliesFor some reason my headlights and fog lights dont work as well as the turn signals, however the marker lights and 4ways do. The ac and fan also dont work. This all happened at once yesterday. I checked the fuses and they are fine. They must not be getting any power.
