I have a 2002 GMC Yukon with 195,000 miles. The oil pan is now leaking and it needs a new gasket. It has 40psi oil pressure at idle. The lifters knock when first started. Should I replace the oil pump when the pan is pulled to replace the gasket? What else should I change while the pan is off with this high mileage vehicle?

View 6 RepliesWhy a 2004 Yukon Denali would not start. It's leaking coolant. The battery was replaced less than 2 weeks ago and it doesn't jump start. I was told that the water pump is cracked and when you turn the key the lights and radio come on but that's about it.
View 4 RepliesI have a 2005 Yukon XL. In Oct 2010, my front A/C started blowing hot air even though it was set to cold. Nothing has happened since then, except that about a month ago, the A/C in the front stopped working but the A/C in the back still works great. The one in the front works when it wants to (once or twice in a week) and when it does, there is cold air coming out of it. We live in FL so it is getting pretty hot to not have A/C and we are going on vacation soon. What can be causing my A/C to work like this?
View 1 Replies2003 XL 5.3L with a leaking fuel line between the tank and filter. Mechanic says that this line is only available in a kit that includes all fuel lines for the truck. Hard to believe you can't just get the one line.
View 4 RepliesI've got a 1999 Yukon with a new (rebuilt) engine ad a new (rebuilt) tranny, both only about 3-4 years old. Within the last 2 years it has started to 'snap' to the left or right when I move the wheel just slightly. My husband tightened the steering and that worked a little but it still does it. It's pretty scary when your on the highway and go to adjust your lane placement and the wheel jerks out of your hand in the direction you're turning! Also, the truck has also developed a nasty habit it simply shutting down while I'm driving. The last time it did it I was on the freeway doing 65! It always starts right back up but I'm worried that one of these days it won't and I'll find myself in a real pickle! Nobody I've talked to (including mechanics!!!!) seem to know what these problems are.
View 1 RepliesI have a 99 olds Alero. recently my engine started to knock. I had it brought to my mechanic who told me its a connecting rod or a Bearing in the engine in cylinder 3 or 6. He put in thicker oil for now and the knock isnt as bad.
I want to know if it would be worth putting a used engine in to replace the one now. Would it be worth swapping it?
I bought a 2002 camry xle a couple of days ago. The oil light was flickering so I had the oil change yesterday. I drove it around for a little while and everything was fine. The oil light only came on if I had to hit the brakes harder than normal.
So today I decided to take a drive outside of town and everything was fine until I was going up a hill. The car lost power and the engine started to knock. I was able to get it off the road and shut it down really fast. Decided to check the oil and it was hard to tell where it was at on the dip stick. With the dipstick pulled out I notice that there was steam/smoke coming from the dip stick tube.
After I let it cooled down and waiting for a tow truck to come to the rescue, I tried to start it. It ran for a few seconds and then died. During that time I had no power when pressing the gas and it sounded like it was knocking. It was hard to tell the type of noise it was making. Not one did the oil light, check engine light come on until it stop running.
2002 5.4 super duty. My truck had started to ping, and knock worse over time. I did some research on this site, and I decided to remove my K&N air filter. Replace it with a traditional paper filter. Then I cleaned my mass air flow sensor. The results were great, no more knock and ping.I will check the MPG next to see if I get any improvements.
View 1 RepliesLeaking exhaust manifold? The truck has a much louder than normal "knock" when accelerating. At first I thought and had some bad fuel in the tank. I eliminated that with a full take of good fuel and some STP but the "knocking" continued. Then I thought that perhaps it wasn't firing on all cylinders but it felt like it had full power. I took it to my mechanic and he said it as a exhaust manifold leak. He said that he has never replaced the exhaust manifold but that it was a "nightmare" and expensive. He also said that it's not a safety issue but on the long run the leak would cause the truck not to pass its emission test. He said the problem was with rusted bolts that would be difficult to remove.
View 12 RepliesI have a 2000 Silverado with the 5.3L V8, 138K miles, it never leaked oil until an oil change a few months ago, it started leaking right after the change, like night and day. There is nothing wrong with the filter I have removed it and tried a new one. I have replaced the valve cover gaskets and still have a leak. I have read where the 5.3 Vortec has inherent problems with oil pan and rear main seal gaskets. The oil is dripping on both sides of the oil pan toward the drain plug and at the seam between the tranny bell housing and rear of motor block, so it's not confined to just one side of the pan.
View 2 RepliesTook my 4 week old Santa Fe through the car wash (touchless) this morning for a rinse. Not sure if I'm the first in this forum to experience it, but my windshield started leaking! 6 or 7 streaks of water ran down the inside of the windshield. I was only 2 blocks from the dealership so I went straight over.
Anyway, obviously covered by warranty and I was sent around the corner to an autoglass place so the guy can look at it. Going in tomorrow morning and they will reseal or completely remove and re-install the same windshield. Needless to say, I am NOT impressed by this!
I was told I needed to replace the rear struts on my car since they had started leaking. How much does something like that run?
2007 Honda CRV 2 Wheel Drive
So I bought my 03 golf 2.slow about 10 years ago used and it came with a moonroof... not a sunroof. I never really thought about it and just assumed it was a option from the factory but the seals have been leaking lately and I was looking for a replacement seal and could not find anything only sunroof parts. Is this an aftermarket moonroof where they cut a hole in the roof and added this?..I really hope not. Or did someone take the sunroof assembly out and put this in its place.

I looked under the hood and could see a steady leak way down on the bottom driver's side of my engine. What's the problem and how can I fix it? No matter what, getting rid of this car is not an option.
View 11 RepliesSo over the weekend my 2000 jetta VR6 started leaking coolant and getting way to hot. So i parked it at work and eventually got it towed to a friends shop. I haven't looked at the car since then so bear with me on the descriptions I'm giving as they are just what he told me over the phone. I'm going to try and get to the shop in the morning to check it out some more. He says I have a leak in 2 hoses that look like they are just rotted out.
First hose he says "Comes from the back of the head and is about a half inch wide. it goes into a Y and then the top half goes into a smaller hose." The 2nd hose he says "on the top of the coolant bottle there is a line that goes across the back of the firewall then comes into a rubber hose and from that hose their is a T going into other places."
Obviously that's not a lot to go on. and when I'm looking at replacement hoses at shops online I'm not seeing ones that match these descriptions really. I've been looking for a diagram or some kind of illustration of these hoses so that i can send it to him and he can figure out which ones they are but I have not been able to find one.

I am assuming I need to replace some part/tubing that has a leak in it, but I am not sure what any of these things are called. How to identify what leaking part here is?

Low and behold - with weekend my oil pressure sender circuit started leaking.
I actually tried to replace it myself - once I got the intake mani off I could not get any tools to work to remove it.....bummer.
Also - - - we have recently replaced the rear electronic clutch for the rear differential - - the seal went and fluid was leaking into the clutches - - - another warranty repair.
Coworker's 2000 Focus's heater core started leaking on his 50m commute this morning. He is ready to donate the car at this point. Any stop leak product (i.e. Bars) that would stop the leak without clogging the cooling system.
View 5 RepliesI have a 1995 Dodge Caravan with over 300,000 miles on it. There have been no repairs to the Power Steering system and it made no noises and did not ever leak prior to July 2011. The power steering system started leaking somewhere, so I went to a chain store shop. They replaced the pump citing that it had rusted through. However, the leaks continued. I took it back twice and they found nothing. An affiliate store determined that the problem was the steering rack and they replaced it and the recently replaced pump. They also said one hose that had a crimp clamp had worked loose and the rack seals were shot. My question: is it likely that the pump and rack failed within a three month period independently? That's what the chain store district manager concluded.
View 3 RepliesMy 2000 F150 started leaking from a small pin hole in the coolant bypass pipe that is located on the top / front of the intake manifold, it is the pipe that flows toward the heater core. I decided to remove it without pulling the intake "being lazy". I almost had it and it snapped, while trying to retrieve the piece that was still in the hole It broke and part fell into the intake, I assume into the head in one of the coolant ports. I have removed the intake and still cant seem to see it or retrieve it. I have tried a shop vac, and a magnet wand, still nothing. While pulling a vacuum I noticed that I had flow / suctions from all my cooling ports on both heads, the line from the heater core, and even my top radiator hose.
So I guess my question is, If I cant get this out and it fell into one of the water jackets in my block will it hurt anything??? I know rust and other things end up in there anyway. I still haven't given up on removing, I am really in need of answers,, in case I cant remove it. I do know the flow of coolant is up through the pipe I was trying to replace, and either through the heater core (hose), thermostat, or maybe the bypass back to pump.
