Ford Transmission :: 1986 - Gear Ratio On Transmission?

I have a 3 spee Od out of a 1985 F-150 2wd . I was wanting to put it behind a Onan 6AT diesel . The engine came out of a P-350 bread truck . I runs great . I was wanting to know what the gear ratios are on the transmission . The engine has about 135 ftlbs of torque . The tranny was behind a 300 6 cyl . Iam trying to find out if this tranny will work or will I have to go to a N<!-- -->WC or TKO 5 speed .

Replaced Troque Converter, Truck runs engine runs fine transmission won't shift out of 1st gear.

Was doing some errands this morning and on the way home the transmission shifted a little strangely into 2nd. I had to let off the throttle for it to shift.
Fluid levels are correct and not burnt with no residue floating with a pinkish red color. Using Schaeffer's All-Trans Supreme.
I have read all of the threads related to the P0732 and the mechanical diode issue. Does the e99 4R100 have the mechanical diode? If not, what else could it be?
I also have the P0500 VSS sensor circuit fault which an old Ford mechanic stated could be related to a bad fuel sending unit which is definitely bad on this truck.
Am planning to go out and clean the sensor on the differential. Speedometer is working properly. I have also noticed what appeared to be a small slip when in reverse a couple of times that I initially attributed to tire spin. Is any of this related? Should I be prepared to rebuild/replace the transmission?

My 1986 F150 in my signature has new 33" tires, up from the old 31" tires, and the even older 28" or whatever the stock size was. Needless to say, it feels pretty sluggish lately. First, I want to change the gears to get the engine back into a favorable RPM area while cruising. I used a calc and figured 4.10 gears would get me back to where it was with the 3.55 gears and stock tires.
There are several different spline counts and carriers and all that stuff. I need selecting replacement gears that will work, and first off, knowing if my carrier will even accept them. It has the stock Dana 44 front and 8.8 open rear...

I have a 1986 Ford Bronco straight six 300 4 speed manual NP 435
She grinded a bit when shifting from a stand still but nothing terrible for an old rig but leaked oil bad from the rear main seal so I took out the tranny/t case to put in new clutch, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, and rear main seal. When I put it all back together shifting into 1st would grind like CRAZY. So would reverse but not near as bad. So I took it all back apart inspected everything even torqued the clutch to specification. Put it back together and same result. So I replaced the slave/master cylinder thinking the clutch wasn't pushing enough bench bled it and still no luck.

Just picked up a 2002 golf 2.0 auto for $200. Get the car home start it up and it runs great but... transmission shifts all kinds of funky. Starts in first then shifts to third. If I give it some gas it shifts down to second but has nothing there, just revs. Will not go into 4th at all. Throw my little mac scanner on it some codes come up. Only one that mattered was p0277 if I remember. Do a little search and it comes up as the g68 under the tranny mount. Change that out and had not cel. Still shifting the same but no code at all. Throw my scanner on just to see and get p0730 incorrect gear ratio.

Rebuild on the Mazda 5 speed transmission. My 1986 Ranger 2.3 Four cylinder has 280,000 miles and the clutch has never been replaced. It's not slipping but I'm having trouble getting it into gear from neutral. Was told that the release springs on the clutch plate have weakened causing the clutch to not release completely so figured it's time to replace it. It's done well the last 280,000 miles. The question I have : overhauling on one of these Mazda trans and how difficult was it. Any special tools required, etc...I see Autozone has a rebuild kit which appears to have bearings, seals and gaskets. Figured while it was out I would go ahead and rebuild it myself if I can. Rebuilt a few engines but never touched a trans.

I just purchased a F250 Gasser with the 6.2. I made sure to get it with the 4.30 rear to babl to tow a little better when i upsize the tires a little. Where I can find the drive output ratio from the transmission?

I have a 2000 F150 5.4L with 157k miles on it. I think it has the 4r70w trans. The transmission has started holding 2nd gear too long before shifting into third. Throttle position doesn't matter, it does it even under light throttle. I do not have a check engine light. I have owned the truck since new and the trans fluid has been changed 3 or 4 times. The fluid looks pretty good now, not burnt or anything. The truck has been sitting in the garage a lot over the past 2 years, I drive it at least once a month and have put maybe 2000 miles on it this year. It shifts fine through the other gears, just 2-3 has an issue. Truck has the towing package.

Just put the 6.0 back in the truck, engine working good now. Went to take it for a test drive and the transmission will not engage in any gear. I don't have any codes coming up on my scanner. Can not figure out why the transmission is not working from engine R&R.

- Swapped wiring harness from my other truck and still nothing

Is it somehow possible to change the (standard 50/50) Front/Rear Power Ration of the 4x4 Transmission? I know the Porsche Cayenne uses something like 40/60 (as well as the BMW X5) and as the Touareg and Cayenne are supposed to share the same hardware I figure it must be possible to adopt the Cayenne settings.

I have a 1986 351w with a C6 sitting in my 55 F100. Its a project in progress, rebuilt 351 etc. Have not really driven the truck except for around the block a couple times, still work to be done however I do start it on a regular basis. Recently after the motor gets to operating temp around 190 or so the transmission start screaming, sounds like belts slipping or bearings. I first thought it was the water pump and replaced it last week, started it up today and same issue. No noticeable noise until she warms up, then sounds bad. How many miles on the tranny, over 100k I suspect. To rule out slipping belts and pulleys etc, I removed all the belts and same noise. I did notice after installing the trans and driving it around the block, that it shifts really hard into drive and reverse but the trans has not been used in probably 8 years or so. I've not drove the truck since it's started making this noise. I have the column out, but should have it back in tomorrow and may take it for a quick run around the block to see if noise gets worse.

1986 F150 3spd Auto 300 v6. My truck will not shift out of 1st in Drive, to shift into second I have to column shift to 2nd. 20mph top speed and idk what to do to fix it. I would like to put a 5 spd manual in it cause I would like to drive over 50mph.

I'm swapping a 90 E4OD into my 86 6.9 F350 and find my injector pump won't take the usual throttle sensor. I'm wondering whether the controller (from a 90 E350) cares about intermediate throttle settings or is it only worried about coast vs wide open.
My options appear to be rigging some sort of linear travel pot, or would limit switches with something cobbled together to give two resistances be enough?

I have a Ranger that I have put a 302 engine with an FMX transmission in...everything seems to be working correct except the transmission will not shift in to 3rd gear... don't know alot about transmission.. could this be a linkage adjustment issue?

I have an extracted T18 transmission and it appears to be stuck in gear, preventing the Shift Control Housing (top part of trans.) from being removed. Would pulling the shifter remove that top plate? As it is I can get that plate lifted about an inch while I notice the in/output shafts turn, which leaves me to believe it's stuck in gear.

In Drive the engine revs but wont accelerate more than 25mph. D1, D2, and reverse work as usual. Fluid is dark, but no debris, no burnt smell. Should I change the fluid & filter? The shop said that would make it worse.

1986 S10 blazer automatic transmission won't go into reverse OR neutral! It goes fwd in both reverse and neutral. It goes into park just fine. The fluid is full and not burnt. It will drive forward when in reverse and in neutral. I turned the engine off and checked neutral, it was not in gear but tried to go forward as soon as I started the engine.

My 86 diesel mercedes has a history of a bad transmission. Could not drive it for 2 years before having the transmission rebuilt only to end with no 3rd gear. Very loud metal sounds(not grinding) when changing gears as well as having to build up muscle tone to change gears. Anyway, driving along around 55mph when the airbag deploys with no collision. I pulled over safely, not sure how. After cutting away the airbag my husband tried to drive the car home. The stick would only move up and down but not into any gears.

I have a 1986 Volvo 240. It has a button to push on the stick shift to put it in 5th gear. It drives and works fine except when I downshift from 5th gear. ..then it seems confused and has a hard time getting back into gear, it kind of hesitates and lurches forward. It will not go into reverse after it has been in 5th gear until I turn off the ignition, and start it again.
