I have a 2013 f350 with the 6.2L gas and automatic transmission...when it sits idling in gear or park it starts to whine or squeal for about 30 seconds then stops and starts again. it makes a horrible sound if you shut the truck off while it's making the noise... Ford has had the truck for 5 weeks and checked the motor for vacuum leaks and changed the torque converter...but it's still doing it but less frequently now but according to them it's louder. I have a video but don't know how to upload it. if you go to YouTube and search ford raptor whine it shows a raptor making the same noise also.

Brand new to diesels with an 02 F250, 7.3 auto, 149k, 4R100. I have been hearing a whine (not the turbo...) for the last few days and after searching the web I'm freaked out about transmission issues. The whine is mostly present in gear while accelerating, I can slightly hear it in park/neutral as well. The sound is a little higher pitched than a power steering pump, pitch rises with acceleration but doesn't FALL as fast as the RPM with shifts, it lags for just a second then drops and starts the climb again with the next gear (i feel like this is indicative of something?). Runs fine and drives like what I would think is normal, only leak i see looks to be from valve covers making its way to everything. Transmission fluid looks great on the dipstick.

I have an issue with a truck I just bought. Sometimes, it doesn't go to Park when I shut it down. In order to start it I have to sometimes put it in neutral. Once in a while it will start when in the Park gear. What I should look into to fix it? It doesn't seem like a big deal.

I've been having an ongoing problem with the gear shifter jammed in park after startup. I changed the brake switch and installed a new ignition switch to try fix the problem. Later, I noticed the battery indicator gauge was flat lined even though the truck was running. Out of sheer frustration, I banged the bottom of the steering wheel and suddenly the battery indicator jumped to life and the truck went into gear again.
I took off the panel beneath the steering wheel off to look for any obvious loose wires but found none. This sounds strange but at first, the problem occurred more in the mornings when the weather was cold outside. No, it seems that the battery indicator will flat line while I'm driving in all weather conditions but jumps back up when I tap the steering wheel. I've included a video on youtube to illustrate the problem.

My truck was in 4x4 and would squeal all the time on and off. Here is the situation today, this has happened prior but i just didn't post on here until it lasted for 30 miles on the highway.
4x4 system:
-MM hubs
-all stock minus the hubs
-Pass side vac hose melted against tire (doesn't matter with the MM hubs but too much info is not a bad thing)
-Replaced u-joints in November
-the screeching when not engaged predates the MM hubs that i installed, it occurred when i had my auto hubs locked last year because they would not disengage
Trip:
-average of 45mph
-30 miles from NH to MA (route 3)
-truck was operating up to temp
When it occurs:
-Under Acceleration
-15-45 mph
- when going from stop-30 it makes a hollow tapping noise instead of the screech
- when hubs are locked and t-case is NOT engaged it screeches for about 1 miles and then stops
Sound in the video occurs within the first 8 seconds, its faint in he video but very loud in person. Highway didn't look that bad in the video but i was in a plowed sctretch other than that the last 25 miles were through about an inch of snow and slush.

While engine braking I started hearing a squeal under the hood , when I started accelerating it became a little louder, I pulled over and when I rev it up it gets louder and has a little rattle sound, sounds like it coming from the turbo....

The truck is a 2012 f250 6.2 flex fuel from alberta canada. This isn't the first tranny form out there that I've heard do this. Tranny seems fine shifts all right just a whine while accelerating.

My 2003 just doesn't drive right anymore. I bought some new tires and all of a sudden it crabs when on the highway 70-80 mph. I have new ball joints. Hubs, and a few other front end parts to rectify the issue with no luck. Alignment shops haven't been any favor either. Tire shop replaced the tires with sweet michelins that worked minimally. So I went to measure the wheelbase, center to center and sure enough there is a 1-1/2" difference between the left and right side. I have had a few minor bumper dings, one at appx 20 mph, but nothing earth shattering. Can something be loose in the rear end? It does feel like the rear wants to swing around and be in front.

My tuck has been making a whining noise very similar to this and only when it's below freezing out. At 5 degrees it's even louder. Just noticed it the other day. Sounds like power steering whine. I have the 6.2 super duty.

At low speeds, I notice a squeel sound in all four wheels. Ford tells me that it is due to the type of metallic pads they use and is essentially brake dust noise that warrants no repair.
Any after market pads that are good quality for towing heavy loads, yet aren't metallic in composition? For instance, are porcelin pads a good choice.

So it was -10 last night didn't have my truck plugged in fired it up this morning took a few cranks but started heard a wine under the hood figured it was cold let it warm up for a half hour went to a buddy's for a party left a few hours later driving home truck was up to temp running fine then I thought I heard a wine again turned my music off rolled my windows down and it sounded like a Cummings lopping shaking like crazy lost power couldn't make it up a hill and bogged out and died look under it and has some oil on the axle tube called for a tow truck ten time no answers so I tried to fire up again and stared and ran fine made it home no problems. My question is is it a fuel issue I use anti gel every fill up but is it still possible maybe water? Or could it be my hpop it hasn't thrown any codes or lights all pressures and gauges read fine. Also my rear main leaks along with oil pan was it just some water running through or should I be worried...

I have a 2011 F-350 Diesel. It started making a strange whining sound when I start it in the morning. Very random and only does it when it's 0- -4 c. Took it to the dealership and they said its the cooler fan clutch. Got it replaced yesterday, and this morning I started it up and the whining sound was back. It also had a weird vibrating sound. What it could be?

So today pulling out of the gas station I turned my steering wheel to the left and I heard a high pitch squeal from the drivers side. It wouldn't do it again unless I was just creeping, nothing going down the road. I did a few searches on here but they all are if the truck is moving say 30 mph or better. I know I need to replace my ball joints. 99 F250, V10, 4X4, extended cab.

I have an 2001 Ford F250 V10 CCSB. I installed 3157 LED Brake//Turn light. Now when I turn in my left turn signal it blinks fast which I can live with that but it would be nice if it blinked at the regular phase. Here my big problem. When I turn on my right turn signal there's a loud squeal in the cab of my truck. !!!

I have a 2004 F350 Crew Cab DRW 4WD 6.0L.
The front drive shaft is making a high pitched metallic squeal while the truck is in motion. I thought it might be the universal joints but after lubricating the joints, I can still hear the squeal and it sounds like it is coming from inside the drive shaft. I also hear this squeal when I spin the drive shaft by hand.
I have quite a few questions about these drive shafts:
- What would cause a squeal from within the drive shaft?
- Are there any replaceable parts or do I have to get a new drive shaft?
- How do I identify the correct drive shaft part for my truck? Seems like there are a LOT of different models on the web.
- Are any of the aftermarket drive shafts any good? Any to avoid?
- Is this a DIY job or will I need to take it in to the shop?

I have a 2004 Ford F250 Turbo Diesel, egr delete, headstuds, intake, dual stacks, etc and when i turn my wheel a loud whining noise comes from under the hood, I noticed it put tension in my brakes. When I accelerate it gets louder and when i let off the gas it goes away... i checked my fluid in my steering pump and it was low so i put some more in and the next day it was all sitting under neath the truck.... any quick fix or do i need to replace the whole pump?

I'm having an issue with my 2001 F350 V10. A seriously annoying high pitched whining noise appeared a while ago, then disappeared, and has now come back.
It happens as soon as I start my truck, whether it's cold or warmed up already. it increases in pitch and loudness as I increase RPM, it also does exactly the same in neutral. As soon as I put it in gear (R, D, 2, 1) it completely disappears and will come back as soon as I shift back to P or N. Strangely, if I drive around town for a few minutes, when I get back home and shift to park the sound doesn't really come back, sometimes it will be faint but usually it's totally gone. But if I shut the truck off and turn it right back on again then it's there again.
It's coming from somewhere in the engine compartment or close but due to the nature of the sound it's very difficult to locate. I got underneath using a screwdriver as a stethoscope and listened to the transmission, transfer case, starter, oil pan and even the gastank and it doesn't sound like it's coming directly from any of them. While underneath I noticed power steering fluid leaking from the pump behind the pulley and dripping off the hose. Somehow though I don't think it's related as the sound disappears in gear and doesn't change at all when turning the wheels. I cleaned the fluid off and drove around a bit and it doesn't seem to be leaking too badly and my reservoir is totally full.
The truck otherwise is driving as good as it always has and whatever this sound is doesn't seem to be having any effect on performance (yet...) ...

I bought my 06 F250 with the V10 just 2 months ago. I have just a hair over 100k miles on it. A few weeks ago I started hearing this low pitched whine coming from the rear end - and my mechanic found metal shavings in the oil for the rear differential. It starts around 15 mph when I accelerate and it kinda sounds like a real low pitched turbo winding down as I come to a stop.

This week was our first nice week of the year. Monday I got in my truck at lunch time turned the a.c. on and it blew ice cold. Today my truck sat in the sun all day and I got in it and turned the a.c. on. I noticed instead of the normal "click" you hear when the clutch engages in the a.c. compressor I got a wine and wimper kind of noise. The system never cooled the air after this happened. Is the compressor shot? Is it safe to drive or is the compressor going to tear itself up and send metal pieces thru the system?

My 05 f250 5.4 has developed a whine that is easy to hear in low rpms. I don't think it goes away with higher rpms, but instead is just masked by the sound of the engine. It will do this in drive, reverse, and also when it is revved in park. What this could be?
