Any way to disable the reverse sensors by maybe adding a switch to turn off power so it does not constantly go off while plowing and the sensors are snow covered? i thought maybe by just unplugging the switch would do it, but that did not work. truck is an 02 diesel with auto trans.
View 6 RepliesOk I ended up buying a 2011 F250 XLT. it has the reverse aid sensors. it worked great till i washed it after plowing. what should I look for or diagnose? also mt my dash says my tires need air. I filled them and reset but it comes back.
View 7 RepliesI remember seeing a post a while back stating that the reverse sensor would make a clicking noise (when you're ear is up against the sensor) when working properly, I only had one working but I figured I'd replace them all since the 4th one was sure to go out . Fast forward to using two different sets of sensors, and not a single has worked or made that clicking noise like I would assume it should be. Can an aftermarket head unit cause these sensors to not work properly or have I just gotten two bum sets?
View 3 RepliesI recently bought a 2008 F250 with the 6.4 diesel indirectly from a dealership. The truck itself has 220,000ish kilometers, but the engine (as well as the turbos) are Ford reman that had about 12,000km when I bought it and I have only put about 6500km on it. It is already leaking oil but that is for another thread.
The reverse sensors, steering wheel controls and part of the stock 6cd radio have never worked. The towing system has errors as well. The fuel level sensor often has problems reading the new level after I put in fuel, but that is always fixed by disconnecting the batteries and forcing a hard reset.
I figured the steering wheel/cruise control problem was due to either a broken clock spring and/or the brake pressure switch. I replaced both those as well as the airbag because the horn relay failed closed when I put it back in the wheel. It did not fix the problem. The steering wheel buttons still intermittently illuminate, but the radio controls and cruise control buttons do not function regardless. The truck isn't giving any codes either.
The towing system will activate lights and brakes on a trailer as well as set the gain, but it will not detect that it is actually hooked to a trailer. I cleaned the pins, but I haven't looked any further into it. No codes for this as well.
The reverse sensors/system does not work. It will lock itself in "off". I am guessing this is because one or more of the sensors have failed, but I am skeptical that it would be just that given the trucks other problems.
The radio does work, but the auxiliary input/mode will not work. I ran the diagnostics on the radio and on 'Test 1' I got "SELF FAIL B1342 ECU" and "B2477 CONFIG". I tried to clear the codes, but I can't. I think this means the radio is kill.
Is there a way to disable the Tire Pressure Monitor System? I want to drop the pressure in my tires when it is not loaded but annoying sensor keeps going off.

I know about the intensity wheel but it does not have enough to overcome the auto-dim feature. Can the auto-dim be disabled, ripped out, sent to Iran, threatened with a .45? Anything to get rid of it.

View 5 RepliesAny easy way to disable the passenger window control? Being a 2 door supercab, I do not have the "window lockout" button on the drivers control. I would like to be able to control the passenger window only from the drivers side. The problem is, my 2 dogs will put there paws on the passenger arm rest to look out the window. Occasionally, they step on the window down button. Once he stepped on the window up button, while window was down and would have gotten his neck stuck in the window had I not pushed the driver control to stop the movement of the window.

View 13 RepliesPurchased my 2012 6.7 about 3 weeks ago. Driving yesterday the CEL light came on. I took and had the code read and it was determined that EGT sensor # 4 was bad. Also how far can it be driven before it leaves you stranded since the closest dealer is 35 miles away.
View 2 RepliesJust picked up my F250 a few days ago and it's been great up until yesterday when I hopped in to start her up and nothing. It's a brand new battery and all lights worked, but the dash was dead. I attempted in vain for an hour or so to diagnose as to why this was happening and just happened to open the door with the key in the ignition and hit the door lock button....all of a sudden the truck starts beeping and the message on the dash said "to disable alarm start vehicle". I turned the key, the dash lighted up and away I went. What I may have done to cause this or has it happened to you? I'm thinking it's something with the key fob but not sure.
View 6 RepliesPicked up a project truck for the spring..... single cab 99 4x4 7.3 with the 6 speed. 1st through 5th work perfect...... however reverse and low are non existent.
What I am sure of:
1. I'm positive its not a clutch problem.
2. The shifter goes into the position of reverse and low just fine but there's no engagement at all.
3. I can put the shifter in low or reverse position whether the clutch is engaged or not... makes no difference at all.
Once i was messing with it and somehow by moving the stick sort of to the side it hit reverse and the gear worked fine but then it remained in reverse no matter what position the shifter was in until i was able to move it around enough to get it out.
I'm thinking bent shift fork? Looking at a few writeups on rebuilds it looks like i might be able to replace the fork without dropping the tranny.... just divorce the t-case and remove back half of trans?
So I had an ABS light going on and off on my 05 250, finally got it read, and the computer said right front speed sensor. I changed it and the light stayed on all the time then. I had someone plug it in and drive it and the left front sensor was reading nice and flat on the graph, while the right front was spiking all over the place. I then assumed I got a bad sensor. I changed it one more time and now the light still won't go off. Now what?!
View 11 RepliesI have been trying to find a new sensor after my truck popped a P2285 code. I can't find ICP sensor at any auto parts store. I found this but it was labeled as a fuel pressure sensor on RockAuto: More Information for Standard Motor Products ICP103... Is this the same thing?
