I'd like to be able to have the key in the ignition and still have the door open without the incessant dinging of the key alert. Is there any way of shutting it off without having to cut wires, etc.?
View 1 RepliesAll of the sudden ignition stays on aux when the key is removed. Starts and runs fine with key , also shuts off with key. However when key is removed all aux functions still work ie touchscreen reciever will not turn off, and door chime continues to ding. 2000 excursion 4x4

View 3 RepliesWhere I should start looking to solve this thing. Got in my truck to drive home at the end of the day today and noticed the radio was on. Started it up, seemed normal. Shortly after the thing started incessantly *BONG-BONG-BONG*-ing at me. Drove home, turned it off. Started pulling fuses, find the culprit, silence it.
It's no longer constantly on and it seems to have flattened out and is only doing it now when the key is in the off position, otherwise silent when running or in the normal on position. I know it's not this contact (the one in the tumbler above the release pin) that's making the problem happen, as mine is disconnected. It's definitely something in the ignition tumbler or similar that's making at least a couple of the circuits think the key is in when it shouldn't be.
I don't even have the factory service manual for this thing yet with all the electrical diagrams to figure it out. Truck is a 2001 F250 PSD Lariat CC, for what it's worth.
2005 F250 superduty 5.4l crewcab. When I shut the truck off and remove the keys from ignition, the chime keeps going off like the keys are still in the ignition until I turn the ignition back to the off position again.(about 1/8 of an inch.)

Tried wiggling the steering wheel, (noticed it wasn't locked), wiggled the shift lever (auto trans). After about an hour of "beatn and jiggling, it just started working!?? What caused this, neither does my dealers service dept. It's working fine now.

So I have a 99 F250SD, earlier this year my wipers started going on by themselves, switch didn't seem to effect them, wouldn't turn off with the switch but would with the ignition off. Then they stopped working all together along with the washer. Checked fuses and relays, put a new switch in and still no dice. When I move the switch the wiper/washer relays do not click at all.
I've tried tracing the wires but haven't been able to find any issues there. The gem is as clean and new looking as one made yesterday. Is there a pinout test I can run on the plug into the motor? or which color wires coming out of the fuse box to check? I'd really like to get this fixed so I can drive my truck this winter.
I have a 2002 F350 V10 and one night I turned the headlights on and when the ignition switch was turned to the off position the lights would go off. When the ignition switch is turned off the lights come back on. I changed the ignition switch but the problem still exists.
View 3 RepliesOkay, I've done a few topic searches and see some variations on this, but not this specific scenario. 2001 F-250 (5.4L, 4x4, auto). My daughter's truck and I wasn't home so this is the best info I have as relayed by her.
She turned the key off, the engine shut off, but all the "electrics" stayed on -- radio and a/c fan to be specific. She said that morning the truck had a dead battery so she got a jump start, leading one to suspect that the electrics stayed on the previous night as well. (?)
I had her disconnect the battery and let it sit until I got home. Of course, when I got home and reconnected the battery, everything works normally as it should. And has worked normally for a few days.
So.. any words of wisdom out there while we wait for "the next" occurrence?
Since yesterday, every time I turn the key off and remove it from the ignition the truck just keeps running. Engine, radio, according and everything just like the key was still there. When I press the unlock button it shuts everything down. It is a 2014 F250 with 4500 miles on it. I don't know if I did something or what but I am confused.

When I turn my ignition all my lights come on and I have power to dash and etc, battery is strong, but when I turn the key I get nothing even when I do the shifter trick for the slip we get on most fords nothing took ignition lock cylinder out and blasted it with electronic connection cleaner, when key is turn i loose all power to everything and there is no "click" or i gage from anything under the hood or the starter rally confused!
View 13 RepliesI've noticed that when I insert the key in my 2013 F250 I hear a humming noise, if I pull the key out it goes away. What is this noise? It seems to do it as long as the key is in, but is quiet enough that you can only hear it when there isn't a lot of back round noise.

View 1 RepliesJust noticed something funny yesterday while flushing my radiator. I have an 04 F350 with the 6.0. When I have the heat set to come out both high and low vents, the A/C compressor also kicks on. The pipes by the passenger side firewall get cold. If I set the heat to just come out high or low, it turns off. This is not with the defroster on. Why does this happen? Is it supposed to happen?
View 5 RepliesOk i have a 99 f250 with a 6.8 v10 that is not turning over at all. I have checked the battery and its good. I have replaced the starter and the starter relay and have tested the starter and its good too. I have also used a volt meter on the batter, starter, and relay and looked at the relevant info and they are all in the correct volt range. I have also taken the starter off and looked at the flywheel and it has good teeth so thats not an issue. I am completely stumped now as to what it could be?

View 5 RepliesI'm looking for a way to eliminate the door chime when the keys are in the ignition and the door is open. I know there is a way to disable it but I don't want to permanently disable...just sometimes.
A friend found a wiring diagram and installed a toggle switch in the drivers kick panel that basically cuts the power to the chime. His F-150 was a different year than mine and I don't know if the F-150's and F-250 use the same color wiring.
I want to do the same thing but need to know which wire that operates the chime. Which wire or have a wiring diagram for a 2006 F-250.
