Is there some sort of reset to turn off the Check Engine light? I had replaced the TPS sensor, and after a day the engine seems to have stopped the high idle and returned to normal, and now it still has the check engine with the same error code, but the problem seems to be resolved. View 14 RepliesThe truck belongs to a very good customer of mine and is a 05 f350sd 6.0 td with 5r110 torqshift tranny. The vehicle presents with these symptoms and codes....
-there is a delay from p to r and its intermittent, sometimes it will be in a weak reverse where it wont creep unless you give it some gas, sometimes it will hit reverse hard after this. sometimes it bangs reverse
-there is a delay into drive intermittently with the same symptoms as reverse where sometimes it bangs and sometimes it will take a little throttle to get it moving
-once the trans is hot (operating temperature) it has trouble downshifting. my solus tells me sometimes it tries to start off in 3 or 5 then sometimes it will bang back down into first and almost chirp tire with little throttle input
-tow haul light will flash after several miles and then it only has 1-2-3-4 no 5-6. then the starting off symptoms get worse
-throws codes for
p0766 shift sol d performance/stuck
p2701 friction element b apply time range/performance
p2703 friction element d apply time range/performance
p0700 trans control system fault.
So far the ideas i have are as follows
replace solenoid D
direct clutch replacement and seals for corresponding drum
torque converter replacement and pump replacement
harness rub through between pcm and transmission
The truck has had similar issues a year ago. Upon testing line pressure i found it was out of spec and replaced the epc. (electronic pressure control solenoid) and this cleared most of it up . I have had the pan down many times and the fluid has not been burnt and there is little debris in the pan. nothing i would consider beyond normal wear. Tomorrow I will be dropping the pan again to inspect the magnet and fluid as well as the condition of the harness. i will post my findings at that time. I am hoping between now and then some of you will be able to point out a few possibilities to get me on the right track.
So on my way to work this morning taking off from a light on a smooth blacktop my message center lit up with "tire pressure sensor fault". is there any way to tell which sensor it is without a scan tool?
View 11 Replies99 F250 7.3 everyday worker, just recently my tranny slipped as I was taking off from a light, I thought hmm that's odd! Pulled away from the next light , it did not slip! Later in the day did it again, so I ran by the transmission shop to have a service done, to my surprise I was told service would not work, and a rebuild was going to be 3200-4k. truck has been used lightly for the last week or so, slips sometimes and not others. I still believe I need to have it serviced? can I do this myself ( I haven't a clue)....
View 7 RepliesThe warning in the title has been appearing for months. Push reset and the display message goes away but the orange light stays on. No rhyme or reason. Sometimes it's gone after a restart for a day or two. Sometimes it stays on no matter how many times the truck is shut down and restarted in a day.
So I finally took it into Ford for service today because the truck is still under warranty. They ask if the tires have been replaced. Obviously they have because I've got BFG KO2s that are a size or two bigger than stock. But I explained that the tires have been on for several months and that the issued did not present itself when the truck came out of the tire shop. It didn't happen until a couple of months later.
So they tell me that their tool can't even detect that any sensors are present and that they'll break down a tire to check and see that a sensor is there. Two & a half hours later they tell me that they've ordered a body control module and cut me loose with the truck. They'll call when the part is here.
I was running tire chains on my front end and broke the wires going to the wheel (I know ,not smart) . Immediately Service AdvanceTrac, Hill Descent fault, ABS light came on. I took it in to a shop and they repaired the wires but lights are still on and won't clear. Buttons on the dash wont work either. Messed up the sensors maybe?
View 1 RepliesWell I went about 20mi to pickup a door for my inlaws. Get about a mile from home and my tow haul light is flashing. Truck starts shifting strange then I smell it trans fluid. If course I get stopped by a red light shut it down. Started and had to rev to get it to move now four houses away from home coast into the drive shut it off and trans fluid is covering the entire bottom of my truck. Even the rear tires inside are covered. I had the wife crank it and I blew a trans line near the ext. trans oil filter. What are the chances that I did not toast my trans? No prior shifting or slipping problems before this mishap.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2006 6.0. It's hard to put into to drive and for you to get it moving you have to just about floor it. The tow haul light is flashing but my bullydog won't pull the codes. It stops moving after like 30 to 40 ft after you got it moving and acts like it's in natural. If you turn it off and back on it sometimes will move another 30 to 40 ft sometimes. It also sometimes if you put it in reverse won't let you give it gas. Like you can push the pedal but the rpms won't climb for this reason I'm thinking something to with a solenoid or fuse or something along those lines and also because if you restart it will move again. I don't know much about transmission. I'm taking it to a shop tomorrow for them to try and read the codes. If they say the transmission is toast i already located another one 2 hours away to swap in which I'll do myself to avoid the high cost of the shop which also I'll look to yall for guidance. I drained some of the transmission fluid and didn't see any metal flakes. Should I pull the pan as well and look if nothing is coming out in the trans fluid ?

I was hauling a car the other day and all of a sudden all these lights and faults came on then my speedo quit working and also the odo don't calculate mileage. I changed the speed sensor at the top of the rear end and still nothing. Cruise control also don't work..

Flashing light will clear in k/o position and remain off until placing selector in drive,after two feet or so of travel,an audible clunk and the trans acts like it is in third gear. Reverse is no change and highway will not shift into o.d. The iss "A" is listed as the culprit but ford doesn't list a iss a.
View 2 RepliesJust got the transmission rebuilt in my truck and other then shifting hard sometimes it has been doing great, Hooked it up to the goose neck this evening and everything was fine then went to back it up and pull it forward and after a short distance the od light was flashing and when i ran a check on it it was p0720? The transmission has less then 1000 miles on it?!?!? 1999 Ford F-250 7.3 Automatic....
View 5 RepliesI have a 2004 F250 Torqshift trans, 155,000 miles. It has had a slight hesitation when trans is engaged for about 4 years, not a problem the dealer has no fix they said.
Now today for the first time I had a tow haul light come on while driving on the freeway. It would not go into overdrive and the light keep blinking. Later in the day, I let it cool down and it drove fine to the store about 2 miles. When I got in to drive home it had tow haul light go blinking and check engine light came on this time.
I hooked up my code reader and it's giving codes: P0720, P0751 and P0766.
Should I take it to the Ford dealer, a Transmission shop or have a friend who worked at Ford Dealer do the Work? I see that some people have changed out the TFT sensor and corrected the problem. While the pan is down should I just have all the shift solenoid sensors changed?
I have 99 f350 v10 4x4 and trans shifts great under light rpms but 2-3 shifts very hard. At wide open from about 35 mph it will shift down and take off like a bullet but wont shift until I lift my foot and then it bangs hard from 2-3. All other gears are smooth. I did some searching and have found some threads saying it could be an accumulator spring that is broken? Truck has 115,000 miles on it. love the truck but want to fix this before it does some damage.
View 1 RepliesWe are in Montreal and are getting a "TBC Fault" message from the tow command brake controller. The owners manual is a little fuzzy about it...says may experience degradation of braking. The message displays each time I start the truck and clears if I hit the reset. I get a good connection if I hook up, and can hear the brakes activate on trailer...just have not tried to tow.
View 14 RepliesI have noticed that in the past 1-2 months my trans probably has just get to 150*. Even on warm/hot days. Lately its just been 120-140 all day every day.
Can this cause any problems? It used to go up to 150-170 when warm, now it takes a hot day to get there.
I assume its fine, but just checking because I have, admittedly, neglected my trans fluid.
My tranny only goes to 3rd gear in 4x4 lo is that normal? 2014 6.2 xl f250 ....

View 10 Repliesfirst heard it a few weeks ago after the wind storm hit us here in nj, my girlfriends grandmother has her fifty foot pine tree rip out of the ground in her front yard. since it was only thirty feet from the street. I said hell ill drag this sucker to the road and cut it up there instead of dragging everything by hand. I figured 4wd high was good (don't know how heavy a pine tree this sized weighs) and I hooked the tow strap to the tree trunk and started to pull. first 4wd high was struggling but the real problem was this high pitch howling i was hearing, went about ten feet and the noise started to bother me, so I stopped and put the truck in 4low the noise stopped and the truck drug the tree with zero effort.
So I didn't think much more of it till today, got a little dirty trying to take the dog swimming and needed 4wd, as soon as i started to hit the skinny pedal and the motor made the tires turn that dam howl came back! rocked the truck a few times and ever time the motor lugged from trying to spin all three tire the same howl came back. switched to 4low to get out and the noise went away?????? Went back to 4high and sure enough the howl was back? regardless i got out but now i have this howl when using 4high and I am really working the truck hard in 4high. I am thinking torque converter is slipping making the sound and4low multiplies the power enough to make it go away from the ease it now has to spin the tires? I am gonna go tomorrow and climb a few hills and see if i can get the howl to start again in 4high...

I put in the X codes and it doesn't show. The icon is on the screen but no reading for temp shows up. The truck is a 2008 with the 3V V10. Maybe verify the codes for me?
