Last week our F250 suddenly stopped running. We had it pulled to the house, about 2 miles, and found it was the AC Compressor Clutch (took belt off and it started fine) Today we replaced the AC Compressor and now it wont shift into drive. Reverse is fine, fluid is fine and there is no warning lights on.

About a month ago, i started seeing some strange shifting issues with the transmission. While driving normally, it would suddenly hard shift (slam itself into gear), the entire truck would shake it shifted so hard. It would also cause the Tow/Haul indicator to start blinking. (my understanding is that the Tow/Haul light indicates an error code).
I drained/flushed the transmission, installed the larger pan/with the improved filter. I put Mercon LV back into the transmission (what type of fluid was in there before).
The problem still persists, and got a bit worse. The truck is almost un driveable at this point. Still getting Tow/Haul flashing messages. Can the error code be read by an standard ODB2 reader ?
I own a 1999 F350 CC SRW w/ 7.3L PSD engine. My turn signals stopped working suddenly. I've checked the fuse panel under the dash but it doesn't show any fuse for the turn signals.
My hazards do work although I noticed something very strange. When I tilt the steering column down the hazards stop working and when I tilt the column all the way up they work again. Still no turn signals though.
My '01 recently seized up and a buddy determined it was the AC pump. Replaced the belt with the bypass version. A month later, I moved across the state to Iowa. A couple weeks into living here I turned the truck on and it was idling really high (about 2500-3000) but would settle down to around 1100 when put in gear. However, shifting into gear is causing a progressively worse "jump" into gear. Hadn't really had the money or the time to take it in so I let it mostly sit unless I absolutely needed the truck.
Today, the idle is still high and does seem to cycle a bit in that it will rev up close to 3000 then settle back down around 2200 or so and then rev back up again and so on. I backed it down the drive into the sun for a little warmth and it darn near jumped a foot when I shifted. I turned the heater on defrost so I could clear the windshield and absolutely nothing came out.
I can't get into a garage for a few days to get it hooked up for diagnostics. So I thought I'd try here. My research leads me to think part of my problem may be a vacuum leak and/or maybe a sensor somewhere.
2003 7.3 powerstroke won't shift out of park when running. When my plugs are warming I have to shift into neutral then start truck. Works just fine after that unless I go in to park again. Brake lights work just fine. So I am guessing brake light switch is fine. What's next to check?
View 5 RepliesSo I was traveling thru the grapevine on the 5 Fwy and no problems. Made it to the top didn't over heat. Then all of a sudden it lost power. Pulled over and it stopped running. Won't start. Fuel is pumping, I took off the fuel filter and turned ignition on and it filled up.

View 1 Replies2015 F 250, less then 5k miles. When towing travel trailer, weight 7500lbs, on occasion transmission will not shift out of gear. Happens in first, second, or third. Very intermittent. Take off from a stop engine goes to 6k rpm. Let foot of the throttle goes all the way back to idle, still no shift. Accelerate back up to speed still will not shift. After doing this a couple of times finally shifts. Have had this happen in second and third. Not a lot of fun with cars behind you or trying to merge on highway. No codes
First trip to Ford dealer they re calibrated computer. Still happened towing. Second trip to dealer they put a flight recorder on it and I towed again. Did not hang up in first or second ,but would not shift out of third on highway doing 70mph, even when I lifted from the throttle and coasted. I finally shifted to manual and shifted to fourth and was able to upshift After reading flight recorder mechanic said it appeared normal. I explained that having to shift the transmission manually is not really normal and they agreed.
2014 F250 automatic- 35k miles... just started having an issue. Noticed when the transmission is cold, the shift from 2nd to 3rd is almost delayed. It's enough of a pause you can feel it then it shifts. Weird thing is it only does for the first 3 stop signs leaving my house. Once the trans starts getting some temperature to it, it shifts perfect. I checked the fluid while hot and it showed a little low. I drove it after adding fluid but will have to wait till it's cold to see if it's any better... Think it was the fluid? But why just 2nd to 3rd gear only?
View 3 RepliesI have a 93 f250 4x4 with a 5.8 liter with 69 thousand miles.. the problem I'm having Is if I put It in drive it won't shift out of first but if I manually shift it from 1st to 2nd to drive it works but shifts very hard. Sometimes it will shift in drive but It shifts really hard. I don't know what It could be. We just put the transmisson back into the truck due to having to change a broken flywheel. It just don't Seem like it has any power...
View 5 RepliesI bought this truck with 60,000 miles and have had about 3 months. I don't drive it very much but when I do I have noticed that when it sets for 4-5 days or longer the transmission makes a weird noise as you take off and does does shift into gear as it does when I use it ever day. The problem goes away very quickly (not even a 1/4 mile driving) and everything is fine after that. By the way I took it to the ford dealer who did a complete 60,000 mile service on it that was suppose to include changing the transmission fluid and filters-could they have screwed something up (I did not notice this issue until after the 60,000 mile service?).

I ran out thinking someone was stealing it but nope,? As far as I know it does not have a remote start either,i have owned it for the last two years and it has never happened before. It is a lariant edition also .
View 14 Repliestoday I went out to start the F-250 2003 6.0L, and since I have a head cold and i was supposed to go to some job meeting and there's this weird beeping from a smoke detector in my house I can't turn off and it's keeping me awake= I was a total dip you know what and cranked the truck without warming up the glow plugs. So now it won't start. I don't know EXACTLY if that's why, or what. The batteries are fine. There don't appear to be any wires that jiggled loose. I drove home just fine last night.
I don't want to keep cranking it, obviously. Could this be because I forgot to turn the key and warm up the glow plugs? It's not that cold out, but, I know sometimes with my VWs you really had to do it no matter what.
Given that I may have made this stupid mistake, what are my options now? I don't smell diesel when I open the hood. Should I just wait a while, or should I try to open something up, or what?
So now my window won't go down.. Any clue if it's the regulator or the motor? When i push the button it makes a click noise but nothing happens.
View 10 RepliesCarb rebuild and tune-up on my 370 and took for a test run. All of a sudden oil pressure was lost. I know catastrophic happened but was conned into dropping oil pan and put in high volume oil pump. now at 2000 rpm I have enough oil pressure to keep rods and mains from rattling but lifters are collapsed. At idle oil pressure drops to zero. It is a mechanical oil gauge. I know the tune-up had nothing to do with it but I did drive the truck about an hour before. A machine shop said the only way he knows oil pressure can be lost like this is for a cam bearing to come out [catastrophic].

No start, no lights dash was gauged was acting odd, and clicking under the dash from behind fuse box. did get it to start after a while, put my foot on the brake to go into drive, never made it ... truck died I do have remote start system thought it was that with the brake pedal issue. disconnected complete system. no change Had it towed, home now no nothing, connect the battery and just clicking from under dash no start ? not a battery, won't even jump Battery is good, the power to starter, Posted this also in light-duty trucks wrong place think this is the better place. View 7 RepliesMy v10 when air is running every few months all of a sudden spike to hot and got to reduce power, i turn off air and in 2 minutes it goes to normal, i can start air back again and not have any more issues to a few months later it will do same thing again, it will not does gradual climb and fall it will spike all of a sudden, turn off air and it will go back to normal in 2 minutes...

I kept diving with my fog lights on and several minutes later the headlights came back on. Then the next day they went out again, came back on and then went out again and they haven't come back on. I have checked all the fuses and they are all good.

View 10 RepliesI recently purchased a 2000 f250 with a 7.3. I'm new to diesel motors and new to super dutys so
Problem; had been driving for an hr and truck, which was running fine shut off like someone turned the fuel off. Check engine light came on, motor cranked but wouldn't start Back up. After an hr or so it fired back up and ran fine. This happened several times until now it will not start on it's own. I use a quick shot of starting fluid it fires right up and runs fine. Have run the truck for 1/2hr or so driving it and no issues except check engine light staying on. Shut it off and it will not start again without starting fluid, which I've only used 2x and sparingly. Generic code reader says no codes.
Is it vapor lock? Under valve cover plugs connection?
