I have a 2003 super duty crew cab 4x4 with V-10 auto w/167k. Awsome truck. I recently have noticed alot of slop in the shift lever on the column. Everything is tight on the tranny end. It appears to be under the dash. Is there a part that may be replacible? And if so... is it fairly simple to repair?

View 1 RepliesI think the gear shift lever is loose and so I get a no start every day or two. I remembered seeing somewhere here that there was a way to tighten up the grearshift lever to fix this problem. I did a search to no avail.
View 5 Replies2000 Super Duty 2wd. My truck has a lot of slop and wanders down the road. My rotors are also warped and after they get warm they shake like crazy. So I plan on new rotors, bearings, calipers, pads, dust caps and rear rotors, calipers and pads for the rear. I will also be doing factory wheels and new tires and shocks all the way around.
My questions is to rebuild the front suspension and do it to last what all will I need? I see some moog kits but I do not think they are complete for what I need. I only have 126,000 miles with a sound motor and tranny so I feel she is worth it. I know how to work on the truck but the suspension is my weak spot. At 126,000 miles I feel it is a good investment
My 07 has developed a steering gear issue.....it suddenly developed about a quarter to a half turn of slop......mechanic checked the front end and found everything to be tight and right so......I ordered a Redhead rebuilt box and will replace it upon it's arrival. My question is How often do these boxes go bad and if and when they do is it at all safe to drive the vehicle with that much play? I have to drive it about 15 miles to get to my mechanic ( far too cold for me to do it at home) and I also plow a couple of yards commercially and will need to use it there in the event of a snow storm.
View 8 RepliesStarted my truck the other day no problems,minute into the start truck shuts right off like someone turned key. Checked fuses , #30 fuse under the column was blown, replaced it and tried to start truck. No luck fuse keeps popping. After changing again i was able to get truck started for a second and POP goes the fuse?

My brand new 2016 F-250 Super Duty has a misalignment running down the steering column. Looking just over the top of the airbag cover, the shroud that protects the gear shift and upper steering components is depressed on one side... and further back, the shroud for the cluster is depressed a different direction. Certainly nothing earth shattering, but it annoys me every time I see it.
View 2 Replies1999 F-350 . My shifter lever is extremely loose, it will not go into park at all. I tightened the two torx bolts, adjusted the needle but its still bad. Im thinking the cable is loose, I saw that there is a small rod attached to the end. Is there a way to tighten it or do I need a new cable assy.?
View 5 RepliesMy steering wheel is loose as in moves back and forth if pushed or pulled right at the wheel.. everything else seems tight and still turns and drives fine.. took off the airbag and the center nut is tight.. it's been getting progressively worse since I bought it.. What it could be??? Loose bolt or nut or the steering column?
View 2 RepliesI have a 2002 F250 diesel, the key will turn to acc. but not on. It feels like it is hitting something in the column. I tried moving the shifting lever back and forth with my foot on the break, as I turned the key but it would not turn. I am thinking the tumblers are OK because it goes into acc. It feels like their is some lever that is not releasing the shift lever, because if I turn the key hard the shift lever jumps. What is wrong, or how the interface between the lock tumbler and the shift lever works?

View 1 RepliesI started having a issue with getting my 00 f250 power stroke to start. It started out I could move around the gear shifter in park and get it start and today I had several times I had to put it in neutral to get it to crank. I did notice that my shifter on the column seemed to have some play when in gear but then again my 99 F250 V10 also has some free movement when in gear. Is there a neutral safety switch I could replace or any way to adjust the shifter?
View 14 RepliesMaybe its just my freaking OCD but on my 2015 f250 that I've owned since new the trim around the steering column doesn't line up directly with the dash! Not the steering wheel to the steering column trim but the column trim to the dash/instrument cluster. When I lock the tilt/tele lever in, the right side of the column lifts up maybe a 1/16th to maybe closer to 1/8th of an inch and it irritates me because the two lines to match up evenly. Is this normal for this design tilt/tele steering column? Is it normal? You can see the right side is just a little higher than the left side...
View 10 RepliesI have a hard shift between 2-3 that is somewhat violent. It doesn't matter the rpms or how hard I'm accelerating, it will always do it. At wot, it sometimes throws a code that stays on for a few minutes, then goes away. When I hook up a code reader, it shows no record of it and it never throws a blinking OD light ever.
It has an ATS transmission, but I don't know how the controller works, if it is wired correctly, or if it could even cause this issue. Currently the truck has 210k and unknown on ATS.
So it appears as though my shift lever (automatic) will not shift into the 1st gear position? However when I drive the vehicle, the transmission seems to shift through 4 gears, then into Overdrive? What could be the issue?
View 3 RepliesI have a 2003 F350 Super Duty 6.0 L with the dash mounted 2H-4H-4L switch. I was using 4wd and the light went out by itself and now I cannot shift it out of 4wd. Fuse 31 has no power to it, and the drivers book says it is the fuse for 4x4. Where the power for that fuse comes from? There is no power to the switch as well, of course.

View 3 RepliesMy 05 superduty is in the shop because it won't shift in or out of 4Hi. Ford garage says I need a new transfer case shift motor, and 4wheel drive module. They said the shift motor was full of oil. I am not really up to speed on how the shift motor works, other than it bolts externally to the transfer case, that's why it confuses me about the shift motor being saturated with oil. My truck has never leaked even a drop of any type oil, ever.
View 6 RepliesMy two oldest sons and I have a 1999 SD F250 4x4 with the V10 automatic. My boys burnt the trans. We had a spare that was pulled from the same year truck with the same motor. The boys installed it without me. Everything seems to work as it should, EXCEPT! 1-2 will not shift until 2800 rpm. 2-3 is the same. When I checked the install I found that the new trans has a speed input sensor on top of the housing behind the bell housing. It is Not plugged in, my harness does not have that plug. Old trans does not have that sensor. Is this the cause of the high rpm shifting?
View 14 RepliesWhen I shift into 4Lo I get no 4 wheel drive. 4Hi works. Did have a/c redirect to defrost a couple of times. I remember something about the air redirecting having something to do with not having 4x4 but don't know just what it was.

Have to start in neutral. was fine yesterday, now it doesn't work. if it wasn't snowing like crazy id just crawl around and find out. do our trucks have a linkage? or shift cable? I imagine I am just out of adjustment somewhere. any advice what to look for or where to start when the snow finally stops??
