Any limited number of lights the factory trailer harness on the truck can tolerate? I'm looking to add some extra running lights on my trailer, also want to put a couple of lights on each running board on the truck, they will be tied in with the trailer harness since it is not monitored by the BCM. I did a search on this a few different ways and couldn't find anything.
View 8 RepliesI have a 2006 F250 and my 7pin and 4 pin connectors are just hanging loose. I'm not sure what happened to the factory bracket. What is the part number for this bracket? Also, where does it mount to? I looked under the truck and couldnt tell where the factory one mounts.

My camper and boat trailer do not have turning signal or brake lights when plugged into the round seven pin trailer connector. I have tried both the connector in the bed and under the bumper. I've also connected the trailers to other trucks and the lights work fine so I know the problem is in my truck.
I have a 2005 Ford F-250. I have checked power to the rear harness and all is good except for the tail/running lights.
Is there a fuse for the tail lights? I have checked the manual and don't see one called out. And the relays under the hood are labeled stop lights/turn signals and those are working fine.
I will see if I can trace the brown wire from the rear harness backwards, but it may be a simple fuse.
I have a 2005 ford f250 with the factory installed brake controller and towing package,until recently all was well,I tow a fairly large travel trailer and last time I hooked the trailer to the truck I noticed the running lights on the trailer were lit, I checked to make sure that I did not have the parking lights turned on or the headlights. I did find posts about the running lights not working and was surprised to find there is a relay somewhere on the central junction fuse block that was integral to the cfb and not user serviceable. Could my problem be that this relay failed in the closed position or am I not going in the right direction in my quest to find this problem. Also looking for a diagram of where this relay is located on the central junction fuse block? I would also consider doing a work around solution rather than having to replace the entire fuse block.
View 7 Replies03 f350 7.3L. Have no power for the trailer running lights at the connector end. No power when the end is split and no power at the next connector above the spare tire. I have power at the fuse (38) and the fuse is good. What is the best connection to check next? Is there a common culprit that might cause this problem somewhere? I know 3 more connectors are in the frame by the fuel tank but pretty much lose track of which one might have the wire for the trailer.

View 6 RepliesThe pigtail from my bumper mounted 7-pin to the factory connector is all hacked up from the previous owner so I'm looking to replace that pigtail. Also wondering if there should be 2 connectors down there to add a connector for my gooseneck or do I need to splice another universal 7-pin into the bumper light pigtail? Also, is there another (preferably slightly cheaper) option besides e-trailer for such a connector?
View 3 RepliesI'm still fighting tow harness problems on my '01 F 250. I started by replacing the 7-way pig tail with a new one which didn't work. Then I undid all the butchering of the harness that was done previously. The factory harness had scotch locks all over it that were used to splice in a 6-way and a 7-way into the bed. I liquid taped all the nicks in the wires. Then I checked for power at the factory harness end where the pigtail plugs in. I have park/running lights, and one of the ports flashes for the left turn signal/flashers/stop lamps. I got rained on before I could check further up the wire. If I have no power to the wire further up is there another place to check?

I have looked in the tech folder and searched and searched. could not find wires that are the same color as mine. Yes, mirrors are OEM. I need to know what color goes to what color.

Side note these are in no particular order as far as pin location.
I recently purchased a 2011 F550 Super Duty with a flatbed mounted on it. Turns out, the trailer wiring harness is totally screwed up and I am getting tons of shorts whenever it rains. Going through it front to back, we are finding multiple problems like missing fuse box covers, damaged fuses for starters. The Ford dealership in Texas that did my prepurchase inspection for me totally missed all of this, so i am stuck holding the short end.
IN the rear of the truck we detected shorts in several areas. One of them is in this adapter pictured along with this. Is this a Ford part, or does it appear aftermarket? Is it just an adapter or is it more than that? I am just now getting to l know this truck more specifically. given the date of manufacture on the label it would seem to be from Ford??? Part # is 99-004 and 71-012-A...
I am having a problem with trailer lights and an 03 350. When the truck is in reverse the fuse for travel trailer running lights and tail lights blows immediately. Changing plugs on the truck did not work. Truck has been hooked up to 4 other trailers including another travel trailer with no problems. Our travel trailer has been hooked up to an 08 and a 2011 truck with no problems. Fuse 38 20 amp. 7 post rv plug.
View 3 RepliesWe bought a 2012 f550 chassis and had a utility bed outfited. As far as I know the truck does not have a tow package (major F-up). They did install a receiver and electric in the rear. The 7 way pin in the rear does have the appropriate wires (including blue). I can not find the harness in the cab under the dash. I have looked near the radio where I have found the harness on our other trucks. I specifically looked for the red white and blue wire under there. Where is this harness? Is the harness still in the cab even without the tow package? This will be for the old school plug in controller, not the ford intergrated contoller.

View 9 Replies2004 ford f 350 super duty, 6.0 Liters international diesel, 4door, 4x4, long bed, dual rear wheels. Over 200,000 mileage. I have no power to the trucks brake lights and no power to the tow plugs trailer brake lights, which is the center left and the center right tow plug blade style contacts, while using a 12 volt test light! All fuses are showing good and I replaced the brake switch at the brake pedal, and I also replaced the towing plug with the short wire and connector at rear of truck which is under the rear bumper and the frame mounted tow hitch bar
- Are there any relays that control the truck brake lights and the trailer brake lights ?
- If yes where are the brake relays exactly?
- Have I missed or not done something else to correct the problem?

View 4 RepliesI was bummed that my 2011 King ranch F450 would not show the actual speed limit for the road I was on unless I had a destination entered.
I was trying to find how to delete an address and I stumbled on to the fact that on the "info" screen (an "i" with a squire box around it) showed the speed limit for the road I was on.
It's not a convenient as having it displayed on the map screen, but at least it is there.
I finally got around to installing a transmission temp sensor in our '06 F250, and I have noticed today that it seems to be at 180 degrees regularly driving around town unloaded. It has been around 80-85 degrees outside today. We just got this truck about a month ago, so I'm still getting used to its little quirks. On our old 7.3 with a 4R100, it wasn't at all unusual to see 180 on a day like today around town. Is this normal on a TorqShift?
View 13 RepliesThe rear tail lights on my truck have been out for a while now. I wasn't doing much driving at night so it wasn't much of a bother but the new job is getting me home a little later and having to drive with my hazards on is getting old fast.
My radio wasn't working either and I disconnected it a while back hoping maybe it had something to do with my lights shorting out but no luck. It remains disconnected. Just in the past few days my front running lights have went out as well.
I've tested all fuses multiple times (and replaced a couple of them) and checked and replaced bulbs. My brake lights, headlights, dash lights and hazards all work fine. I have the trailer light hook up on the rear bumper and disconnected it at the wiring harness as well hoping it was the problem but it wasn't.
