I need to identify these random plugs under my dash. I think they might be for some sort of alarm or remote start unit and they seem to be tapped into the ignition wires. Suspiciously like remote start plug wires but I can't figure out what unit they would be for?

Do the 6.2l plugs have problems breaking like the 3v engines did?
I think I'm going to pull the passenger fender liner to get to the lower plugs in the head.
How does the coil pigtail unclip? I looked at them briefly earlier and it looks like you pull the red tab back, then press down and pull on the pigtail but that did not work and I did not want to break anything.
Went to hook up my trailer today and both the trailer plugs do not work. I checked the fuses and all is well. They worked fine the other day but now they don't work at all. I confirmed this by hooking up to another trailer and nothing. Also got another truck and went to trailers and it worked.
My truck has 19000 miles so it's practically new. I have never seen this. I called dealer but they can't see it til next week and I need the trailer brakes and lights. Where could I look or what could the problem be?
Got a 2015 6.2. No where near time to change plugs, with alot accessories i have installed it would suck if the cab has to come off. Can the plugs be changed with the cab on?
View 12 RepliesI have a 2002 f250 super duty 4 dr w/ full lenth bed. has v10. had oil cooler problem, motor oil in coolant. fixed that, then rad started leeking, replaced that. now blowing freeze plugs on block. replaced i on drivers side rear, now popped one on pass side. whats going on? i know oil pressure is more than water, did the oil cooler leak losen the freeze plugs? What size freeze plugs they are? no parts house around here knows.

1st, fouled spark plugs on passenger side. All of them have a carbon glaze. That side of the engine seems dead. I checked the pcv valve and its fine. I took the head off to have fixed a broken exhaust manifold screw. After reinstall when The engine started and there was a lot of white smoke from the exhaust. Then it quit smoking. I was hoping it was from the new exhaust manifold i put on, guess not. I took the intake manifold off and noticed that there is an extra hole past the back of the manifold that the manifold gasket goes over but not the manifold itself. The pictures Ive seen make me think the setup is correct, but what is the extra hole for?
2nd, high idling. Around 2000rpm's. I am guessing its because of the right side not working for smoother idling?
I have an 01 F250 with a v10. Driving through heavy snow in 2013 a plug blew out. Should I expect this to happen again if I do some heavy hauling and should I do something preemptive?
View 14 RepliesOK changing plugs and boots on 2003 f 350 5.4 (I have a bad miss and mis-fire code) First time messing with these things. When taking out the coil over plugs it looks like somebody put die-elect grease up underneath the boot at the top where the spring and the metal prong touches together. I thought I just needed only to grease the plug on the sides to keep the boot from sort of melting onto the plug. And some boots had maybe a drop of water in them is this common or any concern? Might be condensation and water does conduct elec, so not that concerned, but these C-O-P's are new to me and thought I'd ask. I've searched here and read posts about changing of the plugs and C-O-P's but don't remember any water boot coming up.
View 6 RepliesMy '99 was running rough - coughing/spitting/sputtering when under a load - especially at lower idle/rpms and going up inclines.
Brought to mechanic and he put it on "the scope" which told him the #1 pack was bad. Replaced. Got it back and it ran better, but, then went back to the coughing/sputtering.
Replaced the spark plugs - OEM Motorcrafts. Seemed perfect for a wee bit, now I notice an occasional cough/spit but all in all not bad.
Curious: was it foolish to not replace ALL coil packs at time of plugs or is it ...acceptable to do just the plugs and then come back and do packs if needed.
The other day I was under my truck and noticed electrical plugs behind the front splash guards. What these might be for? I have a 00 F250 superduty XL model with the 5.4.

Anything else I should look for or do? Is there anything I need to know about changing the fuel filter?
Bought a dealer demo last may. Truck has been wonderful. Had less the 1500 miles on it. Noticed when I was installing the lock on my tailgate that some of the plugs that cover up the holes in the plastic piece inside the tailgate were missing. Maybe some of the screws, not sure. Dunno if it's supposed to be that way or what. Just started to get a horrible feeling about it, Taft maybe something major happened. Any way to find out or round they have told me? Mebbe I'm over thinking this.
View 6 RepliesMy second Super Duty, a 1999 7.3 at random leaves the starter engaged after starting! Turn key off, starter disengages. Solenoid or ignition switch or? Batteries are good, and crank times are quick, but a while ago before replacing starter there were some periods of long cranking.
View 12 Replies2006 F350 V10 and what was a random noise after sitting for long periods and starting has become a much more common noise, start the truck and just when you're ready to put it in gear it makes a snarling noise for 1/2 a second that first few times I thought was a cat in the radiator fan.
It is completely random when it will do it now hot or cold and sounds like it's coming from the front passenger side of the truck or possibly in the center and haven't been able to have it produce the sound with me outside the truck.
After listening to the sound hundreds of times and comparing it to other things it sounds to me a lot like air in a high-pressure oil system, almost the same sound as my farm tractors with air in the hydraulic systems.... No leaks and all fluids are full and clean, The truck runs like new other than the random start up noise and I don't like not knowing what going on exactly on anything mechanical!
I have a 99 f450 4X4 I'm having brake problems. Without warning when I go to stop my peddle will go right to the floor and I can't stop, at other times I go to stop and the peddle is stiff and I have to put all I have in to it to stop. The abs light comes on and off occasionally at random but as the brake failure has become more and more frequent so has the abs light. Also my steering does seem a bit off, a little tough N jerky and the power steering pump is whining.
View 6 Replies99 F-250 SD 6.8 had an issue with it while moving from Del to Phx, Az. Found collapsed air cleaner element. It looked like someone stepped on it. I replaced it as well as the MAF. This fixed the issue. This was 350 miles into the trip. The truck seemed to be down on power as it didn't want to pull my trailer up any type of grade except with OD off. Around 2K miles into the trip in developed a random misfire with no codes. I am at my final destination and the misfire is worse. I am not showing any codes at all or pending either. It is a bit toasty outside to be out there diagnosing issues, and I won't start changing parts randomly either. I have a NGS scan tool with the proper cards.

I had diagnostic done at Autozone and no problems from check or OBD. The battery light has been coming on for a few minutes then going off at random intervals. Today I was towing trailer and quads, around 3500 lbs, to go riding and it was on most of the time running on interstate and highways.
Seems like the serpentine belt doesn't have as much tension as I would expect. Is there an easy way to change the serpentine? That looks to be a real pita.
I have a 2002 F250 SD V10 4x4, that just started to randomly misfire [does not matter if the vehicle is in motion or in park]. I scanned the OBDII and found pending code P0720 (Output Speed Sensor). The CEL, O/D light, nor the ABS light illuminate. The speedometer functions normally.
This occurred Saturday after we got 12-18" of snow. I cleaned out the driveway, took a short drive (~ miles) & parked the truck (no symptoms). Later we went to 2 stores and then on the way home, the misfire started. The next day the misfire continues.
I have been searching & come up with the same posts that say the issue is not the OSS. It's usually a bad COP or bad wiring @ the OSS. The symptoms are not the same as when I had a COP go bad (only misfired under load between 1500 & 2500 rpm).
Personal issues: My truck does not fit in my garage, it's dark (and usually below 30 F) before I can get to look at it in the evening. Also, we are supposed to get another foot of snow tomorrow night.
I have an 02 250 5.4. 103,000 miles. My truck at random times will not start in below freezing temps. Turns over just fine but Acts as if a frozen fuel line. I can get it running by pouring hot water on the fuel rail or a shot of starting fluid or sometimes both. It's been going on about 3 or 4 weeks now and I have ran through 4 bottles of dry gas with about 15 gallons each time. Also have replaced fuel filter and fuel pressure regulator. I'm 99.9% positive the pump is working and there are no leaks in the lines or holes in tank that I can see. My next step is to drop the tank and clean it out but trying to avoid that.

Started getting a P0300 and various misfire codes for random cylinders. Truck has 95,000 kilometers so figured I would change the plugs. Several of the plugs on the lower bank on both sides were pretty much toast. Most of the plugs on the top looked good. All of the plugs had a small deposit where the spark hits the ground probe. Picture is typical plug from lower side. changing the plugs should make a big difference in how she runs and eliminate the codes.
Took right on 4 hours same as dealer said it would. I would have got it quicker but it was not a race.
