2011 F250. My radio's audio settings are resetting back to default when my truck sits a couple of days. I know there is one member that has(d) this issue. I am still under warranty but thought I would ask what or if there will be a fix.

View 8 RepliesMy truck at idle sounds like it has aftermarket cams and the exhaust coming out of the tail pipe smells really rich. when driving down the road my heater controls default to defrost. Also when I fill up with gas it takes forever to get it to fill all the way. I am lost on where to begin with the problem [ I did check the tank vent hose and their is no blockage] Possible vacuum issue?

View 7 Replies2002 - f250... I originally posted this issue in July of '03. Nothing has changed.
1. At max ac, regardless of how hot it is, the ac clutch cycles due to low pressure once the cabin temp reaches about 78 degrees. This is not acceptable or expected in my opinion.
2. I have run extensive tests, done this for years, and the conclusion is that there is too much pressure drop in the evaporator. I'm seeing 5-7 psi drop measured using a Fluke digital temp probe, insulating the probe tip around the pipe. Compare outlet of orifice tube several as far away from orifice as possible and comparing to outlet temp of evaporator where it comes out of the plastic shrowd. Convert temp to pressure.
I've seen many posts over the years of people not happy with '99 to '04 ford truck ac operation at cruising speed. I have confirmed that the compressor is cycling way too much to cool the cab down. I even ran an experiment where I completely blocked the condensor to raise the head pressure and the compressor still cycked at 1500 rpm's with the cab above 75 degrees on a 90+ degree day.
My next step is to blow out the evaporator and see how much oil and junk I get out of it. I'm also considering taking the evaporator out and trimming the rubber gasket that is around it. It is blocking about an inch of the coil face all the way around.
My conclusion still is that the evaporator just isn't loading up enough as if it's partially clogged. There is only about 2 psi drop between the outlet of the evaporator and the compressor.
The compressor cuts out at 21 psi so the low pressure cutout switch is working properly.
What should I use to flush the evaporator out? Will mineral spirits do it as long as I blow it out real well and make sure I get all of it out? Also wondering if I should blow out the condensor thinking maybe there is something clogging it up.
In spite of some folks on this forum saying it is normal for the compressor to cycle at cruising speed, that is a correct statement depending on many factors. In my case, the cycling is not normal or expected. I have also tried:
1. VOV
2. Larger orifice
3. 14 oz charge over what the sticker says
I recently purchased this remote starter and I installed it and had a local dealer program/cut the key.
I have an XLT without the message center. Do I have the manual temperature setting for when the remote starter is used? It has not worked either way as far as i can tell but it has also been very mild temps in illinois at 55-65 in the morning.
If I do have it, is it a setting i must engage somehow? I looked in the manual but could not seem to find anything.
The left Warn Premium hub has started rotating out of the Free setting, this seems to happen at or near highway speeds. A tell tale sound is then produced, I assume from the splines contacting. It does not rotate all the way to lock. There seems to be less resistance on this side now than the other when locking. Hubs have been installed for 3.5 years, problem started a few days ago, haven't been locked in a couple months.
We've had torrential rains for the past week with no end in sight due to the tropical storm bearing down on us so I figured I'd ask here first before pulling the hub in the rain (no garage).
I tow a 5th wheel with my 2014 F-250 that has an factory TBC. I just installed Electric over Hydraulic disc brakes on my 5th wheel and was trying to see if there was a setting I needed to change on the TBC to tell it that is now E/H versus E. In the Information section of the dashboard display it talks about the controller actuating electric drum brakes but the manual talks about it being able to do electric AND E/H. What I need to do here...if anything?
View 6 RepliesI recently purchased a Prius. I had Sirius set me up with a trial membership and send a signal a number of time to my radio, but it keeps resetting to zero. I've tried turning the radio on off--the "tech support" at Sirius told to take car to an audio shop to check it. I frankly do not think it could be a problem with the radio--everything works on all other channels and channel 1 works with the previews. I don't know what an audio person could possibly do--I think the issue has to be with Sirius.
View 2 RepliesSo my dad just bought a 2008 f250 xl with a single cd head unit and mp3 hookup. When you press the aux button on the head unit, it displays ' no aux audio". We have tried unplugging the radio and plugging it back in for a few minutes, but that has not worked .. Any way to get the aux input to work?

View 11 RepliesRadio locked up. Dealer says $800 to replace which seems way out of line to me. Are there any aftermarket solutions that retain the Bluetooth phone integration and don't look gawdy once installed?
My radio has the CD player, a digital display and steering wheel controls but no large screen or touchscreen for mapping or backup camera or anything like that.
Or if there is no good aftermarket solution perhaps I would be better off replacing it with a higher end Ford radio with inputs for a backup camera, etc?
My factory radio will not work. The person who had the truck before me installed an after market radio and it works fine, but the factory radio will not power up when I plug it in...is the radio shot or is there a way to fix it.
View 1 RepliesI just purchased a donor wheel from ebay... it was the right price, and I'll turn around and sell the shell and the switches when I pull the wires out.
I'm looking forward to the wheel getting here. I expect to be able to swap the wiring harness inside the wheel and then be able to add the redundant audio control switches. This should leave me with the impossible setup of having a black vinyl wheel with cruise and audio controls.
How do connect the oem subs on my 08 350 with an after market audio system which has an RCA line dedicated for subs? What are sub wire colors behind the dash?
View 3 RepliesI have a 2004 F-250 SD, Crew Cab, 6.0L diesel. Out of the blue, when opening the door with the key off and out, the dome lights stopped working, the radio wouldn't shut off and I would get no warning that I had left my lights on (nor any other warning coincident with the door opening). Just as if the truck is not detecting the door being opened.
One would immediately suspect the door switches, except that this was a suddenly occurring problem that affected all four doors, by sheer odds, pretty much negating this problem as one to do with the door switches. Still, I did spray the switches with WD40, couldn't hurt, right?
I have replaced relays (#306) with known good relays, I have pulled and looked over every single fuse. I have read of door post wiring issues with F-150's that speak to this issue for that model, but am not convinced that translates to the F-250. I'm at a loss, and almost perfectly convinced this is a computer problem (the GEM, though it's called something different now). But before I go replacing expensive computers, I would like to know how to diagnose this.
As it is, I've learned to live with the fact the radio will stay on when I get out of the truck and will time out after 10-20 minutes. I've learned to live without the dome light coming on and have counted my blessings when the foresight of some engineer saved me from a dead battery by knowing that I would leave the manual dome light switch on from time to time. I've learned to look back at the truck to make sure I haven't left the headlights on. In other words, I've learned to live with this problem.
Hearing some static on my radio. Dealer said Ford aware of problem but nothing they could do. This was a couple of days ago. Just passed 36k. Have always owned Ford pickups but have always hated dealing with their service people. Hear it on satellite and FM. It slight but noticible.

View 5 Replies2005 F-350 diesel... When I first got it the radio was shutting off by its self, my 02 did the same thing so I wasn't to worried about it.
But things have advanced , radio shuts off , windows wont work? Goes on and off at will , does not seem to be road bump related as they go off and on when Im not moving.
Will stay off until I restart truck sometimes and other times it only stays off for a few minutes.
