I have with my truck is when i pull into a parking lot or even my driveway on a angle the truck sounds the like the bed is loose and the body is creaking.
View 14 RepliesI have a 2001 F250 Super Duty 4x4 with the 5.4L I bought it cheap and runs well. While going through doing the stuff that needs attention I noticed the 4x4 isn't workijg. It has whatbappears to be some cheap maybe plastic locking hubs and the manual pull stick onj the floor for engaging the 4x4.I can pull it into 4H and 4L, the dash lights confirming come on but the front wheels will not lock in.
One of the cheapo hubs looks like someone clamped vice grips on it to try and turn the and doesnt seem to totally lock in. The drivers side hub sounds like it is lock in but makes a terrible lound clicking noise.
They may be the stock hubs, have no markings to designate the direction to lock and unlock and do appear to be somt sort of plastic hub.... Are the hubs my problem since I can manually pull it into 4x4 and I can see the 4x4 shaft spin but the tires are not engaging?
In forward drive or reverse, I hear a rotational noise that almost sounds like the bed creaking when you're getting it on. As I go faster the noise goes faster until drowned out by road and engine noise. The noise is unaffected by applying the brakes. I jacked the truck up and spun tires as fast as I could by hand and got no noise but when I lowered it back to ground and had the truck roll the noise was back. Noise is not affected by turning wheel.
View 13 RepliesI have a 2003 f250 superduty v-10 -- 4x4 -- when turning with 4wheel drive disengaged I have consistent thumping sound coming from front end -- more so when turning to left but still prevalent on right turns -- I put new hubs in due to the grinding noise when driving slow to mid speeds -- like axles not totally disengaging and grinding on teeth. but this is a secondary noise -- replaced left front axle with dorman unit -- tried to replace u joints on oe axle but rusted so badly couldn't get c clips to separate from ujoints --
this one is kicking my butt and making me look like a novice -- don't think it is ball joints or anything suspension related but I could be wrong -- sounds like thump thump thump as turning in slightly tight circle or going around corner in the parking lot.
Have a 02 v10 125xxx miles have had grinding noise on drivers side sounds like driving on rumble strip took out the unit hub everything looks good changed out the needle bearing because it was frozen still have sound after needle bearing replacement sound goes away if hubs are locked so question is it the unit bearing or stub shaft...
View 2 RepliesI put on a pro comp 6" lift a few months ago and every week or two I have to crawl under the truck and tighten up that damm pit man arm nut...I can tell when it starts to get loose because the steering wheel gets sloppy...I have put red loctite and have gotten that nut as tight as I can get it with about a 3ft tube on the end of my wrench for extra leverage and still comes loose! I'm just about to grab my welder and fix it that way but there must be a better way!
View 14 RepliesI have a whistle from my 2000 f250 super duty when driving over 60 mph. windshield is new, seal around windshield is good (looks good to me).
whistle sounds like its on right side when driving, and left side when sitting in pass side. wife narrowed it down to the over head console sunglass pocket is where whistle is loudest.
Could the clearance lights be whistling? How does one tighten them up or add sealant to the bottom of them to seal them to the roof. Do I have to drop the front of the headliner to access them?
I have a 05 f250 diesel 6.0 with 173k. Between 35-60 mph it has started a humming sound and when the throttle is released the sound stops. I still have power boost etc. Someone mentioned degas cap, turbo pedestal or turbo pipes cracked.

If I use the remote to unlock the doors then everything works as it should, no alarm.
If I unlock the doors using the key pad the alarm sounds?
I have read thru many of the threads I can find but most are reprogramming the keypad. I am suspecting that a door open switch may be the culprit but wouldn't that affect the remote as well?
I've got a 2008 Ford F250 Superduty Crew Cab. My problem is that the center console of the front bench seat is loose. I keep it folded down nearly all the time and any pressure on the front left corner causes the rear right corner to pivot up.
View 3 RepliesI crawled under my truck today (2011 6.7 w/delete kit, straight pipe) and found a black rigid hose had signs of oil being blown out. The hose was about midway towards the back on the drivers side. There was fresh oil around the outside of the opening of the hose and some on the frame around the hose opening. I traced it back up into the engine into something that I'm not sure what it is and couldn't find it on any engine diagrams. So I've taken some pictures, what it is, what it's connecting to in the engine and why it might be blowing oil out. There isn't a lot, I haven't seen any on the ground where I park but it's obviously coming out, I guess when I drive. Pics attached.....
View 4 RepliesMy steering is "loose", All front end parts are in good shape but I can move the steering wheel 4 or 5 inches back and forth without the wheels moving. Ball joints and tie rod ends are good. Truck only has 185000 miles on it.

When I turn my ignition all my lights come on and I have power to dash and etc, battery is strong, but when I turn the key I get nothing even when I do the shifter trick for the slip we get on most fords nothing took ignition lock cylinder out and blasted it with electronic connection cleaner, when key is turn i loose all power to everything and there is no "click" or i gage from anything under the hood or the starter rally confused!
View 13 RepliesMy 2010 6.4 F250 seems has a loose steering wheel. The steering of the truck hasn't changed nor has there been uneven wear on the tires. It doesn't drift if I let the steering wheel go. Had the front end inspected and was told it's all good under there.
YET, my actual steering wheel is loose. I can grab the wheel and wiggle it front to back and side to side. It FEELS like the bolts that hold the steering wheel to the column are loose. What was the cause/repair? Is this something I can repair myself or a local shop? Or is this a dealer fix?
I recently graduated from a 2010 f150 XLT with F250 tow pkg to a 2015 F350 and am not liking the steering. I have owned the F350 for about 2 months and I have about 2500 miles on it. The more I drive it the more I hate the steering. The steering just seems loose and "squirrely" to me. I even took it to the dealership at a 1000 miles saying something is wrong and they said everything checks out. They, of course told me, it's because I'm used to the steering in my F150. I even told them to check the alignment because it didn't seem right.
I don't know if it's in my mind, but I keep feeling/hearing like something is loose on the front end, especially when I brake on road bumps. I thought maybe it was the ABS kicking in, but I don't think that it. I cannot pinpoint the noise and it's hard to replicate it, so it'll be difficult to get that across to the dealer. Any problems with the steering?
I have a F250 SD with a 6.0 diesel. My steering wheel is loose. I tested and know for sure is not a problem inside the cabin. Fallow the line thru the linkage to the steering box by the left front wheel. I found an adjustable switch there. Just on top of the steering box. It has a lock nut that must be loosen to adjust what it looks like a hex. Very hard to reach. I have watch some Youtube videos but on different vehicles.

What it could be??? Loose bolt or nut or the steering column?
View 2 Repliesmy dads front drivers brake caliper was dragging so last Thursday he had the local Ford dealer install a new one WHY i don't know since i always work on everything of ours plus my friends Fords. Today he said he pushed the brake and it went to the floor then he let up and pushed it again and they worked?? I haven't looked into it yet but the dealer cant look until Friday morning so my dad asked me to do it today after work..... what should i check for? leaking brake line, maybe air in the system still?
View 4 RepliesI have a new to me 05 F350 dually with 6.0. When I open the door with the key the alarm goes off and the truck won't start. How do I shut this off so I can get in the truck with the key. I can't just leave the door unlocked all the time. It has the key less entry, but I have not set new numbers yet, and if I give the keys to a valet, I don't want to give them the door code too.
View 14 RepliesI bought a 99 f250 super duty with v-10. Ran great then I decided to hose off engine compartment. No pressure washer just running water trying to get all the dirt off now the engine sounds like its missing. Could I have a coil pack that got wet or is something else wrong.
View 3 RepliesI think the gear shift lever is loose and so I get a no start every day or two. I remembered seeing somewhere here that there was a way to tighten up the grearshift lever to fix this problem. I did a search to no avail.
