I have a mostly complete 1999 F250 XLT I'd like to salvage the power mirrors, locks, and windows from to install on my 2001 XL. I know the door harness and therefore the dash harnesses will be somewhat different. I'd like to see if there is a difference in the other ends where they connect to under the dash.
Looking for the wiring diagrams for those components so I can see what else I need to change?
I have an early 99 F250 that I'm putting 08+ mirrors on. I'm not real sure what year they are, but no wiring diagrams I can find match up. See, my mirrors have 12 wires. All diagrams I find have 10. The colors don't match either. I wanna wire these up but I can't decipher the wiring.

When I drive the truck and give it gas everything works. Let off the gas and I lose everything. Sometimes after about 20 minutes of hey driving it will stay on. Any reason a dead battery issue might affect the power locks and windows?
View 10 RepliesTroubleshooting a problem with friend's 2000 F250. His power windows aren't working and are causing problems with his door locks and interior lights. When he tries to use his drivers side power window, his power door locks quit working. If he puts the switch to raise, the interior lights flash. From what I've read, it sounds like the GEM to me, we've inspected the wiring and it all looks good. I pulled it out today and it looks good inside, no sign of water leaks on it. If it is the gem, how much do they cost and do they require programming?

View 14 RepliesWhile cleaning the door handles the switch to extend and retract the side view mirrors hung was depressed and evidently got stuck as it was still pressed in. My hope is that this just blew a fuse and not burn up anything. The mirrors still fold and can be adjusted just not extended. Is there a fuse specific for this that may be blown?
View 2 RepliesI can move the mirror adjuster switch and I can see the mirror trying to move and can hear clicking, but it won't move. It's like when the mirror has gone all the way in one direction and can't move anymore. But it does it in any position. I have hand-moved them to different positions and no matter where they are, the switch can't make 'em move into a different position. This happens with both mirrors. In case it matters, they are the power towing mirror that have the turn signal integrated on them and also they are heated.

I know it is a lazy person question but with automatic seats and mirror/peddle position wouldn't automatic folding also be a good idea?

The mirrors work in every way except they will not fold in or out. You can hear the motor start but then stops right away. It does not sound like the gear is stripped just that the motor is stuck some home. It happened to both mirrors about the same time.
I was going to take one apart and see if there is a issue. I can't see there being a electrical issue, but maybe, since the driver side starts then stops within 1 second. It's hard to tell about the passenger side since the switch is on the drivers side.
I have a 2011 F350 with the towing package. I got it used as it and it was a northern truck. My towing mirrors won't extend in or out. They fold and unfold just fine. When I press the button to telescope them I can hear the motor running so I know the fuse is good. I took the glass off the mirrors and scraped some salt out of the joints. I sprayed some lube on the joints as well but still no luck. I also tried forcing them but not too much to avoid breaking them.
View 1 RepliesI am wanting to swap out my mirrors from the adjustable "egg-shaped" superduty on my 2004 to the newer style square type mirrors. I like the newer style mirrors, because i drive an F-550 at work and it has those mirrors on it and it makes towing and seeing in general a heck of a lot better and easier. The question is, Is this conversion possible? Will the newer style mirrors fit on an older truck like mine?
View 14 RepliesI just got my truck recently, when I purchased it the power mirrors do not work. Already checked the 5A fuse and it is good. Tried putting in a new switch from O'Reilly's and still did not work. Are these switches supposed to light up like the window and lock switch? Thinking it might be a break in the wiring or motors are seized but I've read that is not as common.

View 3 RepliesI have a 1999 F250 Superduty with power tow mirrors. Both mirrors are having this issue. It seems both motors moving the mirrors are trying to run at the same time. I tried replacing the control switch since both mirrors are having the issue, but got the same results. Holding the switch to move the mirrors out causes it to move down and out. Moving it in and it goes up and in. I know from experience with electric on a vehicle that when funny things happen, its usually because it lost the ground.
