The electric windows in the front seem to be very lazy. When you depress the button, it goes down slowly and eventually stops halfway. Does it need a lube?

For the past couple of years now I have had a strange grinding noise which is coming from the front end of my truck, it sounds an awful lot like if i was driving over one of the strips on the road that is made to warn drivers they are veering off the road. It first happened a couple of years ago and I took it into les schwab to have them check everything out, of course it never made the noise for them while test driving and after a visual inspection of the front end no conclusion could be made.
After about a month it completely stopped making the noise when going over bumps and i thought that "hey maybe it fixed itself!" well it did not, about 6 months after no strange noises at all it started to happen again, and once again it stopped. Now after about 8 months of it not happening it recently started again and i am determined to figure the problem out this time, it doesnt seem to be any worse of a noise or vibration but is the same as when it first started about 2 years ago. It stops when the vehicle stops, or when i switch it into 4 wheel high on the dash.
After taking it to les shwab again a few days ago they found no problems in the front end, no wheel play or noises when making tight turns (possible signs of bad wheel bearings?) and overall everything checked out well and said that the hubs do eventually need to be replaced in these. 2 days later I took it to 4 wheel parts for an inspection, after all of 10 minutes of driving they assured me that i needed new hubs and that was the cause of the problem, after installing the new hubs (warn premium manual hubs) the problem seemed to be fixed.... 3 hours of driving after the istall and no problems! Until today when I ran over a sewer drain and sure enough the grinding came back, flipped it into 4wd with a quick flip of the switch and no more noise.
I found a few similar on this board before but with no definitive solutions..... Possibilities that I have heard of that would cause this:
-- spindle bearings
-- wheel bearings
-- auto hub hydraulics
-- stock hubs (replaced)
Again this truck is all stock minus the new hubs, taking it into shops has proven to be a giant hassle because it never seems to make the grinding noise while they drive it so they check for wheel play and tell me everything seems fine.
2011 F-350 XL, I can hear a squeal coming from the front brakes when rolling forward slowly, believe the pads are dragging on the rotors. If I touch the brake pedal the squeal stops as it does when I turn the wheel. Took the calipers off and greased the slide pins and put it all back together, still got the squeal. What don't I know???

View 3 RepliesI had a can of fuel at home that had been siting around a while but I put it in my 02 F350 with the 7.3. hind site being 20/20 I shouldn't have done that. The truck only made it about 2 miles then started chugging and eventually quit. So I pulled the truck home and this is what I have done so far. I assumed that I had bad fuel so I started with a new fuel filter. I did notice that the fuel in the bowl was a milky white color. Not sure what that means. But the new filter did not work as the truck will not start. So after reading some other posts I decided to drop the fuel tank and clean everything.
I did that including cleaning out the 2 screens in the fuel pick up. After re installing the tank I put new clean fuel in the tank and primed the truck. But before starting it I drained the first amount of fuel out of the filter bowl just to make sure I got all of the bad fuel out of the lines. So after doing this I put a new filter in and primed the motor again. I appear to be getting good fuel pressure and the fuel looks very clean now at the bowl. But the truck does not even attempt to start. It turns over just fine but will not start. Some advice I can get before I have it towed to a shop. Also, the truck currently has 305,000 on it and has run great up till now.
I put new batteries in the fobs, and my electric locks work using the buttons in the door.
Checked the key fobs at autozone.. they are ok.
Is there a training procedure for Ford OEM fobs?

Ok back at this problem. When I say she won't fill... I mean I can't get more then $0.10 -$0.20 for gas in before the pump shuts off! I'v read all the tips and tricks of holding the gun upside down, tilting the gun up, changing different guns or gas stations, and even pulling the carbon canister filter blowing it out with compressed air... not one of them worked! Yes air passes through the canister but at a restrictive rate.
The only way I can get this truck to fill like every other car I'v filled is to unplug the vent line to carbon canister filter. Then I fill the F250 as fast as I want. Obviously the problem is in the carbon canister (plug up media or faulting canister solenoid) but what is the fix other then buying a new one?
Okay, I've done a few topic searches and see some variations on this, but not this specific scenario. 2001 F-250 (5.4L, 4x4, auto). My daughter's truck and I wasn't home so this is the best info I have as relayed by her.
She turned the key off, the engine shut off, but all the "electrics" stayed on -- radio and a/c fan to be specific. She said that morning the truck had a dead battery so she got a jump start, leading one to suspect that the electrics stayed on the previous night as well. (?)
I had her disconnect the battery and let it sit until I got home. Of course, when I got home and reconnected the battery, everything works normally as it should. And has worked normally for a few days.
So.. any words of wisdom out there while we wait for "the next" occurrence?
Just got an inexpensive LED Stop/Turn/Taillight Bar my problem is it has (3) wires Red, Black and White while the available connection from the old bar has only (2) wires Black and White with Red Dots.
The wiring instructions for the new LED bar says (1) Attach black wire to tail lamp circuit(+), (2) Attach the Red wire to the stop/turn circuit(+) and (3) Attach white wire to a good ground(-) location.
How I should hook this up? My thought is Black to Black , Red to White with Red Dots and White to Frame metal.
2008 F 550 6.4L Diesel 2wd... Truck has a few interior elect systems not working. ALL fuses are good. Message center not working at all, HVAC fan not working, key/lights chime not working, and radio lights very dim. All of these problems started at once. Everything else on truck works fine.

View 5 RepliesOn my '99 F250 PSD 4x4 the speedometer climbs very smoothly (normal) until I hit 54mph and then it just stops going up. Reviewing other posts I have changed the DSS (differential speed/ABS sensor) and the VSS (tranny speed sensor). Disconnected both batteries for several hours to see if it would clear.
Doesn't bounce, peg, go to 0, just won't go past 54mph. No power loss. Tach continues to climb and speed continues to increase. No strange symptoms except this 54mph thing. It is completely repeatable. All fuses under the dash and hood check out ok.
I bought a 1999 Superduty 7.3 6 speed and went out to drive it yesterday and noticed my speedometer stops working at 40mph. I saw many posts about this but no fixes. Bad cluster or vss? No abs light on dash. Still runs and shifts good. Only one yellow airbag light illuminated on dash...
View 9 RepliesI have a '12 F250 w/ 6.7 diesel. Lately when I turn off the ignition after a few seconds I hear a noise that sounds like a small electric pump coming from under the hood on the passenger side.
This also happened a while back but at the time the service people said they could not get it to do that and it eventually stopped.
I have a 2000 F-350 diesel and the electric vacuum pump went out. I bought a new one from napa and it would not stop pumping. Checked for leaks and found none. If I unplug the hose from the vacuum can the next day, you can hear it suck air so it seems I am holding vacuum. Problem is I burnt out the new pump in two weeks from running all the time. Bought another one and same problem.
So now I plug the electrical in and let it build up vacuum for a couple of minutes and then disconnect it so it won't burn out and I am good for days on vent controls and 4x4. If there has been a bad batch of pumps out there? I also unplugged the hose from the pump to the holding tank and put my finger over where the pump sucks and it still did not shut off.
I have a 2009 f 250 5.4 v8 trition motor my coil packs are slowly failing. I want to replace all 8 of them. Which coils and plugs I am going to need. I guess I'll replace the plugs also, how are the accel coil packs and ngk plugs....
View 1 RepliesMy Bump Stops have completely dry rotted and fell off the truck. I have an 08 with a 2 inch leveling kit, I already did all the body bushings, as they disintegrated as well. Should I bother replacing them? I highly doubt that I would ever bottom out that bad that I would need them?
If I should replace them, then where did u guy's get them and should I go with the Neoprene like I did with the body bushings?

I was pulling my trailer this week with 2 horses in. I was going downhills in 2d gear, to avoid using my breaks too much. When I reached the bottom of the hills, and I was almost at 0mph at the round-abouts, my engine stopped!
This happened twice this week, for the first time ever. Almost like if the exhaust pipes where full of gas, and forced the engine to stop or an electronic issue.
Very dangerous, I lost my assisted steering-Wheel, and my breaks... Need to what may have happened ?
2004 f350 lariat Key fob slowly started not to work until it finally quit. Thought it was the battery but changing it had no change. Do the fobs go bad and need to be replaced?
View 11 RepliesAll week the truck was acting like the clutch was slight depressed when first taking off and then today i was driving and the underside of truck started smoking like crazy and slowly lost all the gears could put it in any gear and nothing just was acting like it was being revved. does this mean clutch is bad?
