1999 ford F250 SD V10 ... When this goes on the truck misfires and tries to die. Usually I can key the ignition in nuetral and the clicking stops and the truck starts and runs better....
View 6 RepliesSo I was trying to put led turn signals in my truck then I decided not to because it was getting too dark. Earlier today started without complaints. Then after I was done with the headlights I tried to start my truck, nothing besides rapid clicking. First thought was battery was dead from me leaving the dome light on the entire time while working on it and also having the headlights on a good portion, so I decide I'll jump it. Get it all hooked up and and start the donor truck then wait 2 mins and try to start my truck still nothing but rapid clicks. I got the voltage meter out to check the battery and had 11.97 volts (that's not great but either way it wouldn't start when I tried to jump it). Put it on a charger? Bad starter? Solenoid?
View 11 RepliesSo my truck is making a rapid clicking type of noise out of the vents when the ac is turned on.
The noise sounds like a thin piece of paper getting hit by a fan (that's what I hear) It started during this past winter when I would cold start the truck. but as the heater warmed up it went away completely. well now since its warm out I am running the ac now, and it blows cold but doesn't have a lot of volume to it it seems. but being the problem was when the truck was cold running the cold ac makes the noise permanent.
The blend door acutator is working as should (i can only assume the blend door is ok) the vacuum lines are good and vacuum signal is good.
My neighbors 02 250 6.8l the turn signal/hazard relay is clicking with key off, sounds exactly like a turn signal when truck is off and switches are not engaged. Here's the weird thing, if you hit the brakes the relay stops clicking, if you engage the turn signal or the hazards the lights on the dash are in time with the relay as it should be, but when the turn signal switch or hazards are turned off the relay keeps clicking except when you hit the brakes. Also the turn signal will work with ignition off, if you pull the relay out the turn signals and hazards are inoperable but the brake lights still work. I swapped in a new relay and same thing...

View 14 Replies1999 f-250 super duty... okay, here is what i have going on. basically no power to the fuel pump. For the last 2 weeks the fuel pump relay and 1 of the relays behind the radio (next to the blue relay) would chatter and the truck would die. Wait about 5 minutes and turn the key on and if the chatter was gone then it would fire up and run... So NOW no chatter on either relay and not cranking up. - motor turns over just fine- just no power to fuel pump. So I changed out the relay- both behind the radio and the one under the hood. still chatters and no start. i have checked the Inertia switch and 12 volts there... Here is my question, when i turn the ignition on, i have no power to the base of the Fuel Pump Relay.... Where does the power come from to power the relay???

My truck is an 2004 f250 crew cab work truck with 5.4L. it seems that the relay can be mounted anywhere from behind the radio or in the engine compartment as well as built in to the fuse box under the steering wheel.
View 14 RepliesThe #8 fuse under the hood was blowing on my '00 F-250 every time I turned on the healights meaning I would lose power to my park lights. The brown wire coming from the back of the headlight switch showed a dead short to ground that I traced to somewhere between the switch and the firewall.
Anyway, I got tired of trying to pinpoint the ground fault, so I cut the brown wires at the back of the switch and under the hood at the top bolt-on electrical plug and replaced the bad section with a new wire. It works fine now with the only exception being I do not get the park light flash when I hit the remote lock button the second time. I do still get the horn chirp.
My Haynes manual indicates there should be a relay box with a Park Lamp relay, Driver Unlock relay, All Lock Relay, and All Unlock relay. The park light relay looks like it sends the blip of power to the park light circuit. Where this relay box is? I'd like to splice into the brown wir coming out of it to restore the light flash when I lock the truck since sometimes it's too noisy to hear the horn.

Has a starter relay (solinoid) behind battery... put a new relay in there- no go- cleaner terminals... then I put key in start and shorted the 2 terminals in the relay and she cranked right up. That would mean the starter is still good correct?? something in the ignition system?

The turn signal (left or right), it would make a buzzing noise, so I located the relay under the steering wheel (by putting my hand on it and seeing which one was buzzing) and replaced it, I bought a replacement at Schucks, then the buzzing noise went away, and the clicking noise is back.
But.... I don't see the turn signal lights in the dashboard and the turn lights are not working, I checked, what could be the problem ? I read the owners manual, in the fuse box under the steering wheel, fuze #18 is used for turn lights, but it is not blown.
Its it true, that the fuel pump relay is hid in the fuse and relay box, and non serviceable ?
View 6 RepliesI see several threads regarding engines that wont start for no apparent reason. My reason was a failed fuel pump relay. This sucker is hidden in the dash below and to the left of the radio. I got to it by taking out the ash tray. There are three relays under the cover. The upper left is the fuel pump relay. The one to the right is the turn signal relay. I don't know what the bottom left is for.

When I turn on the ac or heat It blows a 10 amp fuse that goes to the blower relay. It was occasionally now it's all the time.Blower ok, fan speed resistor ok. What or where to look.
View 8 RepliesI've got a 2012 F250 XLT with AM/FM/CD/AUX radio, and the display is not working. The radio functions fine, as do all other electronics on the truck, but the display is dark. I've tried pulling Fuse #29 in the passenger kick panel, and it looked fine. Is my radio toast?
View 3 RepliesBasically I have a 2008 f250 (6.4l if that makes any difference) That wont engage into 4x4. When you go to turn the switch to engage the 4x4 all you get is a click click click click click. Is that a problem with the 4x4 shifting solenoid on the transfer case? Anything else to look for? The truck has 95k miles on it....
View 2 RepliesI just bought this truck and for some reason sometimes the power windows and radio will not work for awhile then it will start working. I replaced the relay on the accessory and I still have power to the dome lights and instrument cluster. I am kind of at a stand still on this matter. I have read that there is quit a few problems like this and not very many explanations to resolve it.
View 5 RepliesSo, yesterday when I got home I stopped at the barn to unload a few bails of hay and when I got back in to crank it, nothing happened. I turned the key and nothing, so I figured I would just worry about it today. However, when I turned the key back to off and started to take it out all sorts of stuff started to happen. There was a clicking noise and a dinging, not like when the door is open. It was quicker. Also, when I turned my key back on none of my dash lights or radio came on. Nothing happens now, except the strange clicking when the key is off or out. The first thing I thought of was the GEM or fuse box.
View 3 RepliesMy 1999 f-250 7.3 has been sitting for months, and I went to start it and both batteries are dead. Replaced both batteries and at first the alarm went off like normal. Turned the alarm off, hit the unlock button and it beeped like normal. Got in and stuck the key in the ignition and tried to turn it over. Completely dead. Now I cant even get the alarm to go off, showing no signs that its even getting any power. And all I'm hearing is a low clicking noise in the cab.
View 5 RepliesFunny thing - had the truck in the body shop for several weeks and when it went in, everything worked. Got it back, and some of the radio buttons don't work. These are rocker style buttons, and when I push the AM (left side) that works. Press FM, and it won't go to FM. Press the right side of the tuning button, and it won't go up the dial. Press the left side, and it will go down. Same for cd. Left side of button goes backward through the tracks, but right side won't advance. Bass/treble button: Press bass (left side) and that works. Press treble (right side), and nothing.
View 2 RepliesMy 2004 F250 has been having issues with the radio. Its been randomly changing stations and volume. I think its due to moisture in the dash. Its stops when I run the heater thru the dash vents.
