Looking for some info on wiring up some Day Lights Running Lights on a 2016 F250 with diesel engine? Thinking of adding LED lights to front of vehicle for day time use.
View 13 RepliesI am a trucker at heart and I like to add running lights to my running board / step bars. As far as installation of the lights, done it several times, no problem there. However in the past, I have just ran a wire back to the trailer plug and used a scotch lock / snap connector to feed the running board lights.
If I do the same on a 2012, will that cause havick with the computer? Most likely I will be running 7 lights, all 3/4" diameter LED style. If this isn't' the best solution, then where to get power for marker lights.
I read in a thread about how fog lights need the auto light sensor or something in the kit to be installed and flashed.
My truck is a 2012 f250 XLT that I bought left over from a podunk town IN illinois. It does not have fog lights but it Does have automatic head lamps. So Im very confused on what kit to order to add fog lights to my truck.
I recently purchased an 06 F250 XLT Crew Cab. I want to add the factory automatic headlights to it. Is there anymore to it than the photocell and the light switch that I need to make it all function? I'm adding the factory driving lights and getting the automatic headlight switch with the driving light option. I tried the search function but came up empty.
View 12 RepliesI was adding some more running lights today and tried to tie in to the front running/turn signal light. Next thing I know I hear a pop and now no turn signals, hazards or brake lights on my 99 F250 SD V10. My 3rd (center) brake light does work though when I press the brake, it's just the tail brake lights that dont work.
I can't find a blown fuse for the turn signals or brake lights (not really sure which fuse box it's in since the manual doesn't tell me what fuse is what)
I however did find what I'm guessing are the flashers behind the radio. What might have went wrong where before I start dumping money in to flashers and relays.
The next question is, can I jump in to the marker/turn signals and add another single LED light to them off the front? If I can which color wire does what?
Just bought an 02 Super Duty 7.3 that has day time running light. Is there a way to disable this feature?
View 5 RepliesThe rear tail lights on my truck have been out for a while now. I wasn't doing much driving at night so it wasn't much of a bother but the new job is getting me home a little later and having to drive with my hazards on is getting old fast.
My radio wasn't working either and I disconnected it a while back hoping maybe it had something to do with my lights shorting out but no luck. It remains disconnected. Just in the past few days my front running lights have went out as well.
I've tested all fuses multiple times (and replaced a couple of them) and checked and replaced bulbs. My brake lights, headlights, dash lights and hazards all work fine. I have the trailer light hook up on the rear bumper and disconnected it at the wiring harness as well hoping it was the problem but it wasn't.
I have a 2005 Ford F-250. I have checked power to the rear harness and all is good except for the tail/running lights.
Is there a fuse for the tail lights? I have checked the manual and don't see one called out. And the relays under the hood are labeled stop lights/turn signals and those are working fine.
I will see if I can trace the brown wire from the rear harness backwards, but it may be a simple fuse.
I have a 2005 ford f250 with the factory installed brake controller and towing package,until recently all was well,I tow a fairly large travel trailer and last time I hooked the trailer to the truck I noticed the running lights on the trailer were lit, I checked to make sure that I did not have the parking lights turned on or the headlights. I did find posts about the running lights not working and was surprised to find there is a relay somewhere on the central junction fuse block that was integral to the cfb and not user serviceable. Could my problem be that this relay failed in the closed position or am I not going in the right direction in my quest to find this problem. Also looking for a diagram of where this relay is located on the central junction fuse block? I would also consider doing a work around solution rather than having to replace the entire fuse block.
View 7 RepliesJust bought a 2002 F-250 Crew Cab. It has the factory style running boards with the lights at each end. None of them where working so I changed the bulbs and still nothing. I decided to follow the wiring to make sure everything was good and found that neither one of the boards are plugged into anything. They both have about a 2' loomed harness with a plug on the end of each board and it is zipped tied to the frame. But there is no wiring nearby to plug it into, I have checked everywhere. I can run extra wiring no problem if I can find out where they are supposed to plug at.

View 6 RepliesI have a 1995 Ford f250 Powerstroke and i do not have turn signals, rear running lights, brake lights or reverse lights. i checked the fuses and they seem to be good but i dont want to tear everything out to check the harness if it could be a bad ground. any insight?

Since the vents and everything is there, what all and how hard would It be? I have an extra dash control that I can put since mine doesn't have the ac option on it
I've been looking at adding an additional diesel tank to my F-250, since the stock tank only holds some 38 gallons. However, I do not want to lose the space on the bed and have been looking at tanks that are mounted under the bed.
Most tanks I see are welded steel, completely overkill and accordingly priced. I'm wondering if a second stock tank pulled from a junkyard might fit in well, but haven't lowered mine yet to check the complete dimensions.
The latest addition to the driveway (2012 F250 XL 6.2) is getting ready to be geared up for it's tour of duty. The one thing that was on the would-be-nice but not must-have list was cruise control. This truck doesn't have it, which wasn't a deal breaker because the truck was way inside my budget.

Is this all I need to install the speed control? I would assume the dealer would have to get into the logic and enable something, but is this switch really all the hardware I need to buy?
Have an 08 f350 xl and was looking to put oem foglights into the bumper where mine has the block out 's, guess what I am asking is if the wiring is already there as it was on a different vehicle I owned ,basically it was a plug and play ,have only had the truck for a week and with the hours I'm working I really haven't had a chance to crawl under and look for the wiring.

I would love to add the towing mirrors (preferably heated with signals), but what I am wondering is if the connectors for the mirrors are the same. Also would my truck that came with the standard paddle mirrors be wired for turn signals and heated options? How would I test for this? Also do all XLT's come prewired for the hardwire keyless entry pad if they have keyless entry?

I looked under the front to where the stock fog light would get mounted but I don't see any wire harness in that area. What is involved if I pick up a pair of replacement fog lights like the offer at LMC Truck. Would i need buy a harness? And what about a switch?
View 11 RepliesI would like to add an LED light to each running board and tie it in with the dome light wiring so that when the door(s) are opened it will come on with the dome light and light up the factory running board. Any info on where a good place to splice into the wiring, and will the wiring be able to handle a couple extra lights?

Noticed the other day that the engine fan on my 2013 6.2powered F250 runs all the time. It's like it has two speeds- really fast where you can hear it running with the hood closed and a slightly slower speed where it still turns fast enough that you can't make out the individual blades. Is this normal with outside temps in the single digits.
ETA. it does this with the heater off also.I've noticed since it's cooled down this winter that when I slow down to drive through town or hit a stop sign my coolant temp needle drops a bit. Thought maybe the fan running is overcooling the engine or maybe it's always done that and I've just never noticed it before.
Actually a couple of questions. I've had one oil change in my F250 6.7. Getting close to the second one. So, my question is, what is the computer using to decide when to tell you that you should change the oil? And, if you changed to a synthetic oil, could you go longer between changes? And, if so, would the truck's sensors be able to tell the difference in the type of oil being used?
